- Veggie Quest Demo Part 3 - the final levels of Veggie Quest's demo are beautifully challenging. The puzzle design impresses me even when I can't figure out the solutions. I can't wait for the full game's release, coming early 2024!

the fact that it's a demo is so amazingly ridiculous when the non-demo screenshots on the store page show off 4 characters we've never seen yet, they're even showing waters and lasers, the full version will be so complex hahahaha

Around 10:30, the problem is that entities teleport when moving *onto* a portal. That means if you place a bunny on the left portal, it actually bounces off the wall and moves right, causing a breeding chain.
I don’t think that’s the whole story. An entity can also spend a turn teleporting without moving, like the level with one column of walls and a bunch of portals showed us. The real issue, I think, is that whether the bunny on the entrance portal chooses to teleport or walk, both options end in a collision, either with the bunny one behind it or the bunny two behind it. I don’t know if bunnies have the ability to choose in that scenario, but if they do, that adds a second option that would be blocked by the formation he had. I could totally be wrong on the bunny being able to teleport while standing still, but I don’t see why that wouldn’t be the case. Please correct me if I’m wrong on that, though!

@arcanelizard4646 Technically speaking, an entity teleports if they *end their turn* on a teleporter. The bunnies that start on the teleporter need to take a turn first, on which they will always bounce and move right.
I am genuinely surprised about the level that spomps everybody. It didn't appear THAT difficult when I was making it.

I haven't played the game, but I'd assume it's an unintuitive solution that just seems obvious when you already know it. When you were making the level you knew what you were trying to do, but the players don't know what you were thinking. With unlimited bunnies and portals, it seems very hard to predict how the maze is going to behave.
You know how good the game is when this guy makes a *THIRD* video on it. Truly a testament of quality.

@trollar8810 I know! I'm not saying Tyler couldn't beat it. It just stopped being entertaining for the audience because nobody understood what's going on because of the difficulty
@@mloxard He dropped the key game for a similar reason. It just stopped being fun and he spent more time explaining the puzzle than actually doing it. You can see on the parts where he goes quiet that he chewed through the puzzles but then would have to go back and explain and it just killed the pacing. When he got to the world where it was nothing BUT that, he just quit.
I had a great time at the stream yesterday, if you didnt see it I would highly recommend watching at least the first half of the VOD! I watched the whole stream with every single dog in it and had so much fun so thank you Tyler for your great amazing content!
A demo is actually out now! And it has a few levels and a new mechanic which Tyler doesn't have.
Wait really? I tried redownloading it and couldn't find the new levels, I'd love to play them.
@@Aliensrock Yeah, Steam doesn't allow to have a demo when you technically own a full version. And there is no convenient way for us to add those levels to your version. If you want, you should be able to download and play the public demo from a separate Steam account.
@@SmartAIGames-- Could you include the demo as DLC or a beta version? Or possibly as a completely separate instance chosen by a launch option (like how some games ask if they should be launched with different directX versions or in VR)?
For the puzzle with 1 wall, have 3 loops that each stay on their own row all going the same direction with a single gap. Shorten the middle row by 1, placing the wall on one of the edges. Then fiddle around to find the optimal locations for the gaps to stay unaligned for as long as possible.
The difficulty of this puzzle is officially equal to Baba. It's so hard, Tyler skips it.
baba have only 1 solution, this have a lot. So mathematically it has baba difficult * a lot

Second, the presence of multiple solutions doesn't imply a harder puzzle - in many contexts, it implies an easier one (though this context, where some solutions are better than others, does not make that implication because going for 3 carrots reduces the amount of valid solutions).

What stands out to me to that one level Tyler couldn't beat is that the room is 7 tiles wide, so if there were an alternating 7-5-7 pattern, so the path would only be accessible once every 35 moves. Or perhaps a 11-9 pattern.
This is the first time I have payed attention to a TH-camrs schedule to catch the new videos when they come out! I had a 3 month break where I didn't really watch TH-cam, but the second I came back I went straight for your channel haha
With the puzzle that has 1 wall, but infinite bunnies and teleporters, is it possible to change the direction of the middle row, have the bunnies only stay in their same rows and use the block to make the middle row shorter?
I'm thinking that if the guy needs to wait until there's an empty spot, you could use the difference in length of rows and direction to force him to wait a lot longer that way, but it would eventually line up?
No cuz he just follows them down, goes in the first row, and follows it then waits for the gap in the second, follows it, so on so on
Having the teleporter loops be different lengths is a good idea. You can't make a line of bunnies reverse direction, but even if you could the gaps would line up at two tiles per turn rather than 1 tile per loop. Unless the gap can pass by if it's off by one? I can't see how to make that happen more than just waiting for a slower loop anyway.
Love this game! Definitely one of the first puzzle games you've premiered for a few months now that had me riveted to the screen watching. I hope you continue it when the game is out!

This is just a theory, but i think the idea that the level you didnt get was to have a full length portal, a portal with the left portal off the wall by one with a wall there, and a full portal, that way there is variance between the lanes and the onion can’t cheese it by teleporting back and directly moving to the portal below it. I’m not sure exactly how it will go from there, but that might be how you use the wall, and maybe it will lead to the solution

i have an idea of how to beat that level but it looks like that level isn't in the demo game? or at least i can't see it rn
5 length between portals up top, 4 between portals in the middle, 5 between portals on the bottom, one block on the middle row so that the character can''t wait between 3 portals
basically this way the gap in the bunnies is desynced (oh, each row has enough bunnies to have 1 gap) and you have to wait for 4 laps for the onion to move to the next level, causing in total like 10 laps of the entire screen so like 50-60 moves i think?

I think the 1 wall level is impossible when there is a bunny starting on the left portal because 2 bunnies enter the portal at the same time at the beginning, causing them to mate and cascade when they exit.
I can't wait until this game is released it's such a good one

or the bunny could be a Ruse and its a Just Teleporter Level where you have to find the Longest Path using the Teleporter.... Hmmm....

glad to see A part of the veggie show
This game is unique, and fun to watch, but as a puzzle game fan and I might give it up. It's so complex, but there is not much clue to you can follow, since the only "hint" is how many carrots you get. For a difficult level, I might enjoy the eurka time getting the first or second carrot after thinking a lot for a long time. But more commonly, the gameplay is making tons of trials and redesigns to grind 1 or 2 steps for the third carrot, it's just not my cup of tea.

He said in the life stream that billy did extremely poorly, with most viewers quitting half way. I'll admit I tabbed out half way too and listened to the commentary, the game just isn't that interesting to watch someone play and the gimmick gets old quick.

I feel that in the last level it would have been easier to fill the entire thing with walls and then remove walls piece by piece.
I am not a expert but i think being on top of a portal means that you are on the both side so that mean there is two bunnies on top of every portal and that will cause a breeding chain

You know, I'd REALLY hate to be in the puzzle solver's shoes, with all the game updates and changing the puzzle so that my solution was no longer valid!
I wonder how this game would implement the characters failing. The level should at least play with the character standing still to see the bunny patterns. Is there anything sane the AI could actually do other than that?

I imagine the issue is how the game would choose a path for the characters.
There's not really any way to optimise what the path should be to provide the player with useful information.
as a possibility they could let the player control the veggies step by step so the player can see what would happen if the veggies take the path they thought the veggies would take and see for themselves why it's impossible
I wouldn't think it would be that hard to just choose whichever path got them the closest to the goal before dying
