  • Hi all! In this video, I share how I do a quick excel sheet to organize my job listings for job hunting. It happened to me before that I would forget where I would apply, when I applied, and where the link would be. This format is easy to use for any level of excel experience! I hope you enjoy.

Nice video. I have been using Excel for tracking my job searches since 2014. I just use one spreadsheet that I have set to autosave so I don't lose anything. My columns for searching are Company Name, Position, Date (app date), City, Contact Type, Site, Email Submission Address and Comments. I use a tab in my spreadsheet to have list data that I can use in a drop-down. For example, the Contact Type field has a drop-down list that contains Application Submission, Interview-in person, Interview-phone, phone call, and Resume submission. This is a great way to keep track of jobs long term, which is helpful for someone who does contract work and changes jobs regularly. It's also helpful for keeping track of resume submissions as well as submitting job searches for unemployment. I also have my email set up to put job application confirmations in a separate folder in case unemployment needs to do verifications as a result of an audit.
