"What's this? A strange cabin in the woods? I know! Let me investigate. Oh no! Looks like a horrible, bloody, crime scene. And look at those possible claw marks! And that huge knife! What could have happened here? You know what? I think I'll take a nap right here in the possible murder monster house. zzzzzz..."
Bruh nothing wrong with that, if I get up at like 6 AM and find out I don't have to go anywhere after all, I can fall back asleep in a werewolf's lap, not to mention some lowkey monster carnage scene. Let's be real here.
When you described the location I started to wonder if we would be seeing a wendigo or maybe a thunderbird. Turns out we got to have our cake and eat it too.
Wait, wait, wait, all your "camping gear" that you were using to hike cross country was inadequate for a rain shower? That's the real scary part of the story.
As a city person I can relate, howerver , if I should ever go on a hike I'd ask a professional at a store or someone - who probably hiked since childhood - what to buy/ take with me, while keeping the backpack light. Such things as a rainproof, lightweight tarp , a sleeping bag that withstsands low temperatures and doesn't soak easily AND start with 2 to 4 hour hikes - not a week long one - in well marked trails, to gain experience and get used to routines , before ever going on a hike overnight. (and even then on a "beginner" one, that's easy on the terrain and well marked) Or maybe go with someone who has years of groweing up hunting and hiking under his belt for my first more than 2 days trip.... Isn't that common knowledge, such as never have food in your tent and in locked special containers, maybe even up a tree and never put up a fight for it...better your bread than you for dinner) and bury scraps (best you don't leave anything left over at all ) at least 300 feet away from your campsite as to not attract bears, cayotes etc? And never leave a trace aka trash food wrappers etc. Carry bear Spray not in the backpack but on hand . Have batteries and chewing gum paper/ aluminium foil if you failed to keep your lighter/ matches wet or cover them in wax..... Waterproof bags/trashbags are useful for lots of things. Keeping things dry , collecting things/ etc. Don't try fruits / berries/ greens if you aren't a 110 % sure you know they are edible. Moss grows on the north side of trees. Berry bushed/ fields, high Grass near rivers around July/September is often where bears suddenly appear out of the thick brush.... Just some things I learned online. No clue if that's all true.
The Appalachian mountains don't even touch Colorado. The only state with both the Appalachias and plains, or at least a plain like plateau and near the Mississippi, is Tennessee. Which is known for Thunderbird and Wendigo folklore as well. Odd.
These are interesting stories, you did one before where a guy got saved by what he thought was an entity come to kill him but she actually was protecting him. Maybe a series could be done about these supernatural guardians that come between the monsters out there and mankind...
A Thunder Bird was a rather unexpected and nice twist. I liked the inclusion of two ancient spirits beings from the Native American Mythos. Other than to no rain proof camping gear on cross country hike it worked for me. Narration and story were really nice - thanks for sharing it.
The story takes place in the Appalachian mountains in the south eastern part of the U.S. yet , he ends up in Colorado on the other side of the state. I guess he means the other side of the country. Just sounded a bit odd since the Appalachian mountains are no where near Colorado.
I’ve found your channel yesterday and now I’m binging every single video while at work, you’re definitely one of my favorite horror narrators now!! I was wondering if you’ve got any social media to follow tho? I couldn’t find any on your channel or description
hey Nat welcome to the channel! Nope I spend all my time on youtube hah. Just youtube and patreon. I hope you enjoy the videos and thanks for the kind words!
I was looking for this story for a long time, I listened to it when it was uploaded but couldnt remember it's name. There are so many stories on this channel that'll stay with me forever. Like the one about the cat with the camera on it's back.❤
AWESOME! I've heard this once or even several times before and you made it scarrier and more suspenseful than any other narrator...honestly! Love you, LH! 🙂✌👍
I am now very confused, he started out in the Appalachian mountains, which has a famous hiking trail, then the ending says he is in Colorado, with a vague explanation of crossing a whole state. I know there is a mystical Thunderbird involved, but that is still a looooooong way to travel, and a totally different mountain range. Just struck me as a strange geographical mishap and reset my aesthetic distance.
Now that was an awesome story! Fantastic narration and a terrific ending with twist! What else could you ask for?! Thank you so much ,I enjoyed that immensely!
That dog was more sensible than those two people. You know this place sooooo well and know there suddenly appears a strange cemetery that wasn't there before but you decide to go investigate?
So cool I knew it was a thunderbird he heard in the storm though I'd never heard the story before there aren't enough references to them in modern fiction.
This man stumbled into a criminal minds episode, which turned into a supernatural episode and ended when he got isekaid to Colorado by a Pokémon, best story I've heard in a long time lmao
Oh Stephen, how did I miss this gem? Well, perfect way to unwind after work. While eating sugary sweets that will most likely cause me to lose a foot someday.
My theory is the Thunderbird was that little girl, both wanting to save someone from the beast that butchered her family whilst also feeling a kinship with a person who also lost their parents too young
And all this time I thought you were special, that 'the one who got away' could actually FLY! Wow.. LMAO! Now I know why your body wasn't at the bottom of that cliff, that you were just a scared little man who took a leap of faith that actually worked!? That you're just a lucky mortal who's still alive.. and I can finally finish the hunt 😈
I like this format where anything can happen.. bizarre and weird are interesting imo. But I definitely agree a 2nd channel is the way to go IF the keeper ever wants more lighthouses lol
Wendego: Takes two shot gun shots to the chest. "I'm built different." Thunderbird: Shoots lightning at it. Wendego: Stand like nothing happened. "I said I'm built different." Thunderbird: "That was a warning shot. Wait until after I isekai this human." Wendego: "Bet." I kinda want to know how that showdown went after the mc was brought to safety.
I thought there was only one bullet in the shot gun he found? Oh well maybe he found some in the cabin n forgot to mention it.. ok still good 👍 story... another awesome narration!

"I used to be a normal person-"
Wow, sounds horrific already.
"-that worked an average job in retail."
Oh sh*t....
LH: "Have you ever heard of a thunder bird?"
Me: Yup. It's called Zapdos
Or THE great thunder bird from terraria thorium lmao
Its a pokemon
Imma zapdos nuts
Nah, they start with Thunderbird 1 and then increase mostly sequentially
Isn't it a car?

I live in Alaska and I've heard one of those thunderbirds flapping its wings. It sounds like flags or a tarp snapping in a strong wind.

Poorly written
Honestly, that would make a great short film or movie. So melancholy and touching while being creepy at the same time. 🙂✌👍
I love thunderstorms. Especially listening to a scary story or watching a scary movie.
Same but this was not scary ^^

Who the hell decides to hike across country with camping gear that can't handle a rain storm?

The greatest stories ever real talk great work

So I'm kind of thinking that this is just a beginning chapter to a very long book.... fingers crossed lighthouse, fingers crossed.
not to bad i like the concept of one Criptid protecting/intervening/saving someone from another, interesting concept.
When will people learn that cabins are *BAD* ?
Agree - the bit about not having rainproof gear was a huge hole. Other than that, this was a great story.
Love love love it! Beautiful!
Cool creepypasta
The way this story started has a damn good shot at being a hit country song!!

I'm pressing downvote because you described my room at 3:27 and called it a crime scene. T_T
Am I mistaken or did he say he was in the Appalachian Mountains? Colorado has the Rockies.. maybe I misheard..
Irritating for sure. Same as when they get fixed up with he and she. This is a oh hell "no"
