  • Howdy and welcome!
    This is a brief tutorial on my first (proper) attempt of macro photography using the Fujifilm (Fujinon) 80mm f/2.8 Marco lens. I had such a good time using this lens and trying macro photography, although it is something I would like to try again when the weather is a bit better and not so windy! I hope you enjoy it and if you have any thoughts on macro photography I would love to hear them!
    I hope you enjoy!

    It's great, every video on this channel is just a miracle, every time I watch a new episode, I am convinced how harmoniously the heroine of this channel herself, her camera and nature, Bravo merge into one.

    Your videos are so dreamy and relaxing. Love seeing Eric with you on your photo walks; I take a camera with me every morning on my walks with my dog. I wished I could let him off the leash but he would just bolt (lol). He's very inquisitive and will get into any and everything. Anyway, it just brings a smile to my face seeing the both of you enjoying nature. Reminds me of when I was a kid lying in the grass staring at the sky without a care in the world. Innocence at it's highest form. Another great video as usual and thank you for sharing.
    On another note, I have the Laowa 65mm macro lens and it's an awesome little lens. If you want to lighten your load, try it out and you won't be disappointed with the results. Cheers!!!

      Thank you for such a touching comment, it was lovely to read a small insight to your morning photography adventures with your dog - even if he can't go off the lead :D I am quite fortunate that Erik is calm and happy to potter about with not causing too much trouble. Thank you for the part about lying in the grass as a kid, to be honest I still feel like a kid in lots of ways and it's nice to still hold that in your heart - I think both photography and Erik have kept that in me.
      Yes I have seen the Laowa macro lenses, maybe I will get to try one in the future that would be great! they have such a cool selection of kit!
      Thanks again and enjoy your week :)

    Bingo. Well done Victoria for starting macro photography. It is one of my favourite subjects. Please carry on as there is so much to see and do . I’m currently on the Isle of Mull having a go at Landscape photography so will now get down to the sea shore and try a bit of Macro although I haven’t got the correct lens. 😢 Loved the photos and videos especially Lying in the Garlic. 👍😂😂

    I have an obsession with tree bark , I spend hours in woodlands seeking out different textures , shapes and colour; I use my phone so I can print a mini instax print for my inspiration book. Fab video as always.
    Your video about macro tubes got me started in macro photography, but I always hankered after a proper macro lens.
    After looking at the macro lens options for Fuji, instead I bought a used Nikon D700 and Nikkor Micro 105 f2.8 G which is a superb set-up for creating dreamy stills.

    I have this lens too and I don’t find it’s the easiest one to nail the focusing. Any trick on your side? I noticed you kept the lens hood mounted the reverse way, so can I conclude you used autofocus only?

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree and I do touch upon this in my review - which will be out later. I found the AF would pulse or struggle with the sweet spot and it was frustrating at times. I did do manual focus as well, (just removed the lens hood) which was better but I always find MF tricky with macro photography on moving subjects i.e leaves bugs as the focus point drastically moves with macro. So AF was most of the time but yes, had some issues with it and couldn’t figure out what was causing it

    It is of course not possible to see - because you are posting video on TH-cam in 4K (with its inevitable downgrades), so the best we will ever see is 8MP photos. This is fallacy of people trying to post their photos of over 8MP they take on high mega pixel cameras on TH-cam (pretty much the same as if they share on social media or messaging apps) - we can't actually see it. But can you see the difference between that lens on the X-H2 and X-H2S when you look at it yourself?

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I never know how the pictures come out as I always view it on my laptop but in theory in 4k you should still be able to see good quality images - but I am not too sure. I think they both worked pretty well to be honest, I still prefer my 4k slow motion filming on the XH2s. The XH2 can get some very crisp images which I was amazed by but I think both of these cameras performed great with this lens, I would be happy with shooting photography with either of them :)

    Funny that it’s called “macro” and not “micro”

      I agree, it’s always baffled me! 😄

      Nikon use "Micro" to describe their macro lenses.

      Although macro means large / long, it’s used in the context of photography to make something very small recorded on film, very ‘large’……hence macro….
