The last 2-parter of the series. Apparently they were proving difficult to schedule and often the 2nd part wound up proving inferior to the first. Still love Two-Face's voice and his scheme feels like something Rupert Thorne would have pulled off.

Frank Paur has called Part I his favorite episode, though he wasn't quite as fond of Part II. "The whole second episode comes along and it didn't live up to the first one. I would have preferred less of things blowing up and more skullduggery going on. A lot of our sequels don't live up to part one. I don't know why that is. If anything, they should be better, and this is actually one of the better ones."
Oof, that was not comfortable to watch. I don't know what is worse, Batman and Barbara or what Joker was doing with her. Maybe it could have been implemented well, I get the supposed "upping the controversial aspect", but it did not work. "Fridging" is already an overused trope, and they made it worse in the animated movie.
You should definitely react to Batman: Mask of the Phantasm immediately after S1 of The Animated Series. I know schedule is tight, but some other animated shows I HIGHLY recommend: - The Spectacular Spider-Man (my fav) - Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes - X-Men: TAS - TMNT (2003) It’d be cool if you guys checked out the rest of the main 90s - 2000s DCAU cartoons: - Superman: TAS - Batman Beyond (+ Return of the Joker movie) - Static Shock - Justice League - JL Unlimited
I’m both with you on that but also think we just need to leave it at the happy ending we got because the show would likely stay permanently dead if “spoiler” was dead and if they killed off any of the legacy characters or the story went for a Dark Apokolypse war kind of storyline then should just stay dead with the happy ending we got
I hope you guys react to TMNT: Mutant Mayhem after Across the Spider-Verse. The art style is gorgeous & the story has heart! The Dark Knight Returns is an amazing comic book adaptation & a top-tier DC animated film. The Long Halloween & Crisis on Two Earths are really good too.
@@DrWatson4Agreed, Crisis was my 1st DC animated movie & it handled the multiverse concept better than a lot of current projects aside from maybe Spider-Verse & EEAAO (Loki & NWH were fun too). Owlman is one of my favorite villains. I love the animation style of The Long Halloween and Two-Face’s origin. I read the comic beforehand & got completely hooked. The Flashpoint Paradox is another one of their best movies & a great adaptation from the comics. If only the live-action Flash was anywhere near as good with less controversy. Under the Red Hood is definitely up there for me as one of the best Batman films in general. It instantly made Red Hood one of my favorite characters with his motive & plan being completely understandable. Whether villain or anti-hero, I actually like him more as an antagonist rather than part of the Bat Family because Jason represents the dark side of being a Robin & how it can go tragically wrong.
I think the fact that they’re doing the whole “One episode of One Piece a year” thing means they won’t be doing the live action. It would be kinda crappy if after how much people want them to watch the anime they get spoiled by watching the live action instead.
Love how they introduce batgirl in this for a 2 parter it’s pretty well written it is weird tho that they jsut wanna pair Barbra up with older guys like even her dad suggested her dating the Councilman guy , & then she blushes when Bruce is getting undressed like their in there 40’s & she’s around the same age as Dick

See classic Batgirl in the 1960s Batman television show and you'll see the proper portrayal: Barbara Gordon is brunette and wears a red hair wig as part of the costume. Good runs of the comic books follow this tradition as red hair being in both identities is poor OPSEC by the character.

Crisis and The Long Halloween are great peak DC animated movies and peak DC animation of recent times.

He definitely isn't in his 40s during BTAS. At most 30s.
The Justice League series is probably where he gets into his 40s.
