Force axe gives a huge reduction in your psychic powers. It is a must have for me when i am running the librarian.
This is true! Must of got changed in the testing phase, I'm sure it wasn't like that before :O
i was so sad when i grabbed the chaplaain and couldnt use the crozius with most weapons

good combos I rarely see:
-apoth with redemption bolter upgraded and with armor penetration perk (hellfire is great but can blind allies in the thick of a fight)
-tactical with storm bolter armor penetration perk/power fist attack speed buff (gives storm bolter II dps similar to un-upgraded assault canon.
-heavy weapons with assault canon/vengeance with armor penetration perk (highest dps in game, vengeance canon gets full armor pen)
What about the librarian? Any tips for perks, sword or axe?
Apoth with upgraded redemption is my preferred setup as well!
Stormbolter mk2 and axe is groovy. When it comes to Librarian I can't really settle on any particular perk. He has a weak armor penn upgrade for bolter, which helps, but the rest of the perks feel a bit weak. He really plays as a melee/ranged hybrid who takes out turrets instantly.
So did you afk all day to reach lv 380 one week ago or? because Im 98% sure you are afk leveling up.

If you are wearing state of the art armor the nids will stutter for a second lamenting they have to eat such a beautiful well-fitted suit of ancient armor so you get a tactical advantage

But ive been maining chaplain and ive noticed hes best for drawing aggro of the most dangerous enemies and tanking their damage while the squad takes it down. Heavy flamer is my favorite but its range is its ultimate drawback. The crozius is decent enough most of the time though to get the job done.
Great video as usual, Valrak! Glad to see I'm not the only one who's enjoying the hell out of an accuracy-upgraded assault cannon - it's a beast! Putting 600 rounds down a long and narrow corridor at (what feels like) a bajillion RPM is utterly satisfying. :D
As others have pointed out though, Force Axe and Power Sword both grant a 66% and 40% reduced skill cooldown for the librarian, which is amazing. Makes the Force Axe pretty much a no-brainer, since this class isn't supposed to do the Assault's job, anyway.
As for the Narthecium, I am fairly certain the Apothecary doesn't actually need it to perform his healing skills (unless we're talking the AI Apothecary in singleplayer here); but I believe it does give a fair bit of cooldown reduction? (Not sure about it, though.)
XTRMNTR2K Sadly yes the Narthecium is basically mandatory since the heal cool downs get tripled.
Do wish the sword was better than the axe for the librarian so it would be dmg/cooldown for the choice but oh well.

Awesome video. Would be cool to see a more in depth guide to each class. Such as good armor perks to take and what each power does for that respective class
Cause its dark angels shoudlnt they have some volkite or rad guns available??
Question, do you really need to hold Q for the Storm Shield on the assault to have an effect? I've found that if I'm facing the correct direction I can just tank rocket hits on the shield, and it seems like holding Q just readies the shield for a shield bash. Am I crazy, or do you really need to actively be pressing Q for the storm shield to protect you?
Question about the thunder hammer: i think one time i killed myself with the aoe from it, and a guy on the team said it's lethal to teammates, is it only true with friendly fire on?

Apoth with redemption
Chap with redemption/flamer (if
FF is off)
Assault with purgatory sword and ultimate adornment
Setup covers all ranges, melee, close, far, covers revives, heals, blocks, dakka

I ended up using the assault cannon the entire campaign lol, definitely an amazing weapon.

I know this is kinda late but I'm just joining the emperor's armies today. Thank you very much for this informative video. I'm going to run apothecary and master it. Glad to know I can let my fears of not doing any damage subside.
Bought this game on sale now and I'm enjoying it, just need to find myself a proper class to play as.
i dont have that skin for the chaplain do I need to buy something else for that ? using the enhanced edition i just bought on steam in sale
For me the Chaplain is where it's at. I perk him with toughness, boost armour and take the trinket that protects from the exploding tyranids. This plus his skill set make's him very tough. I play him as the vanguard, he is well suited to take the brunt of the attacks with some solid panic buttons.
Weapon wise I generally go flamer, he can suppress hordes while team mates focus targets. Also handy to cover allies while they back-off from dangerous situations.
I take the spear on missions I know will have a lot of brood-lords or larger warrior nids. It's armour penetration can make relatively short work of these, combined with your toughness makes brood-lords pretty easy.
For fun I take lightning claws for maps that have a lot of corridors and small spaces. Take the lead and mow down foes. Possible the only class with using the claws with I think. Probably not the most effective but satisfying.

Solid recommendations here, thanks Valrak, I wanna try assault using the Mace of Absolution now lol. I main Chaplin using Power Fist and Spear of Caliban. I personally think it is the better combo, I wish I could use Crozius but honestly the Spear of Caliban when upgraded its OP for a lot of general purposes (Heavy class with upgraded Plasma canon is way more OP tho). The heavy flamer I generally only take on missions like chapter 5 where its just endless waves of close quarter fighting, cant play heavy flamer a lot though, its too blinding as you accurately described.
It's downright heresy to the lore for the Chaplain to not have access to his Crozius no matter what weapon you're using

im a big fan of the spear of caliban. closest i can get to plasma cannon without killing everyone in my party with friendly fire on.
One thing I wish the Chaplain had is the flaming braziers on the armor backpack, especially since the apothecary can get the back-mounted searchlights.
Anyone know how to get that mace for Chaplin?

What is the significance of the levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 do on the bottom left and how do they work? You neglected that section

Hi good video there I looked at it 2 or 3 times now and could do with some help only new to this game and when I go to play it online I am ask to play as Apothecary and I just don't seem to get the hang of it so could you make a video on the apothecary and made the Chaplin
The apothecary has a "heal over time" perk as well.
I would add something critical about the Spear of Caliban, its 30 round mag recharges 1 round at a time at a fairly reasonable speed. This means if you are sparring with it you never hit a reload however you can rarely afford to be less than generous with your fire in this game and that means you can spend quite a while with a low ammo count hitting a 1 round reload timer at the bottom of the mag and it still has an overheat. The Spear desperately needed a balance pass from the devs and never got it. Plasma Cannon all day. It can stun reliably and its ammo goes 100-0-100-0 with each shot and each shot trucks. With reliability perks its truly a gift from the Emperor.
Might also have went into weapons being in 2 categories in this game, faster with more bullets, or slower with more damage. A lot of weapons pairs in that vein. Stormbolter 1/2, Assault Cannon/Vengeance, Plasma Cannon/Spear of Caliban, and some of the melee weapons too.
Master Valrak: I recently got back in to Eternal Crusade, to glorify The Emperor, after playing it quite a bit in beta, and think that the game still has great potential. I noticed in a recent video you published where you stated that you have stopped playing. Would it be possible to make a detailed and constructive video explaining exactly why you left and what the developers might do in order to get players like you to return and continue their support? It would be helpful for citizens like me who have come back recently and are out of the loop as far as any development problems.
Sure I'm a bit behind for the video, but keep up the good work. I love the space hulk series. I have both space hulk and SH: Ascension. It's fun to play, and also challenging. I also have both deathwing and the enhanced edition as a free upgrade. I've also been playing the dawn of War 2 series and dow III. I've played the latest level in Dow II where you explore a space hulk, and I equipped all my units with the highest level defense of Terminator Armor. I would love a space hulk game using the dawn of War II mechanics. Make a sqaud with any of the weaponry.I gave my sergeant the missile pack, which is pretty cool.

How do you fix your own armor?
well be fair Valrak, in reference to the heavy flamer, a lot of the areas are tight, flames are pretty bright, even the hellfire rounds can block screen with the purging goodness of the yellow stuff, and the chaotic mess of flashing etc, its to add to the atmosphere, personally don't mind it, is meant to be chaotic
Could we see which Chapter's of the unforgiving you can play as.
That HUGE ass shield does nothing if not actively used.
My issue with the shield is that it does not exist unless you actually block with it; even if you bash the enemy (placing the damn thing in front of you)
NO dmg will be absorbed.

Chapter Master Valrak do you know when roughly they looking at release? Maybe you can't say, but let's say the game was a song would it be the beach boys, or a song about autumn, or a Christmas single?
Mate, what is the best pick for 2 players coop? We will start the game tonight as a two men team. Is Apo and Heavy a good choice, or should we change some of them for Chap/Ass maybe? We will not play 4 players coop, so your advice is very much welcome.

Uhm, why would go anything other then Force Axe with Librarian? 66% CDR on spells is insanely good.
Some people do, some people prefer the sword, always axe.
Possible reasons: It's a bad weapon, paired with a bad weapon. The sword has much better reach.
Sorry for being silly but can you get renown for solo campaign as I did the first mission and didn't get any. So is it only online I can get it, or do I have to play on higher difficulties? Sorry for silly question. Also more Deathwing content the better :)
Qwest Multiplayer & Special missions give you XP to level up, each level up gives you renown.

But seriously, not trying to bash anything here, I love the game, but I was hoping you could tell the devs about the one handed weapons not working with some of the melee. No reason the redemption shouldn't work with the librarian force weapons or chaplains crozius.

Yeah wish they buff the Crozius with like a cooldown bonus or added effect bonus to the Chaplain’s powers, similar to force weapon cooldown for the Librarian. Other wise I just go Flamer/Spear of Caliban and powerfist.

Convince the Devs from Neocore to add the chamber militants from the Ordos as playable characters in Inquisitor Martyr.
Ordo Xenos > Deathwatch, we get to play as SPESS MEHREENS, Imagine playing pretty much ANY chapter, infinite variations for cosmetics and money for devs.
Ordo Hereticus > Adepta Sororitas, to balance all the amount of wangs we would have in the game.
Ordo Malleus > Grey Knights, mix between psycher/crusader gameplay
It's easy money for the devs to release these guys and gals as DLC for future patches, I'm counting on you to deliver, to make them listen to you, to bend them over impregnate them with ideas and them birth our space bois in glorious gory fashion.

A very cool game. Just tried it tonight. After chapter 1 of single player, I tried multiplayer, which was great, but seemed to have connection problems. Was freezing up for several seconds at a time, which killed me once, and ultimately dropped me. All games were showing a ping of 9999+. Weird.
was it just me or did your chaplain not have a hood? How is that?

Soo why would you ever bother taking a tactical when the chaplain seems to have the same abilities but waaaay better?
- Revive 1 person vs. Revive the entire team
- Put a shield on 1 person that reduces damage vs. make the entire team including yourself invulnerable
Seems terribly inbalanced to me
because you have a servo-skull fetish
One thig which make Tactical true beast specialy for no mercy difficulty but most of ppl dont notice that... Eternal Warrior perk which is exclusive for him and make him immume to score critical hits on him which are biggest and hardest to mitigate spikes of damage even for Vanguard with storm shield.
...and identicle weapon loadouts (minus Crozius on Tac). Hopefully they make the Tactical class more unique with future patch, as well fixing the numerous bugs and server issues.
tbf, Chaplain DOES have one problem, compared to tactical his cooldowns are stupidly long if he never brings the Crozius (but for fools like me with the mace of corswain im laughing with both cdr, a decent melee, and teh spear of caliban)
even then i do think chaplain is still better to bring, full team revive, full team invuln, the ability to make a broodlord kill iteself by hitting you with your 3 up....yeaaah
i like him as this cleric but they should pump down his weapon options...maybe give him a plasma pistol instead of teh spear of caliban, or maybe combi bolters...or a rosarius?
something to fit him into a more buff heavy support like he should be, and then maybe change tactical to be someone in everyones cookie jar, like he can revive, heal and reduce damage, and then keep the servo skull because that rocket skull is stupid good tbh.
Chaplain does not get a cooldown reduction for using crozius.

Turn down muzzle flash settings in the menu and I find the heavy flamer isn’t so blinding.

i would like to say, in my opinion? there are a few weapons that i honestly things are like 'end all be all' status right now (im gunna say right now any class that CAN ONLY GET mace of Corswain, uses mace of corswain for me, because its a miniature Mace of Absolution with Cooldown Reduction for EVERYONE! so i dont use fists on anyone, i say this now because if i didnt, mace of corswain would be in every class im about to speak of)
for Assault Terminator; i think its his purgatory sword upgraded (4 shots broodlord), thunder hammer(AOE) , or the mace of croswain (CDR).
Heavy Assault Terminator; tbh anything but the Redemption Bolter, you bring dakka for heavy things not the trash, thats covered BY your other guns anyway.
Librarian; honestly basic bolter is good but i can see MK. II as well. and force axe because it gives lib the highest CDR out of all (66%) and brings his lightning to a 5-6 second cd.
Apothecary; Hellfire Bolter, i mean cmon...and the narth, nothins else, that Cooldown on the narth is something not even the mace of corswain can compete with.
tactical; i would say anything in his disposal, since i see him as what would REALLY fill a hole in what your team needs filled...however not many are played because of...
CHAPLAIN! holy shit chaplain, the better tactical. honestly? again anything he has can be viable, crozius for cd and flamer for crowd control, spear of caliban for some more damage, or just the base bolter.
yes theres is alot of open choice still in my opinion BUT there are still....things, that even i after practice wouldnt run again right now. all the guns are fun but some just arnt good...and some classes (just one really) make others (again, just one really) useless.
It is a shame I missed out on the Mace, even though I get skins for it.
While this is nice but you haven't really covered the customization segment. This is just the basic loadout. I mean, you did cover the basics of some recommended perks but never put out why or what is preferable. I do myself like Heavy Assault for the same reason for the Assault Cannon, I just wonder what is entirely preferable to go with but so far I see that having the perk that would cause more anti armor damage over say... 2x reload speed, which 2x reload speed is best on Vengeance because it already does great anti armor penetration but that low ammo count demands it needs that reload speed to get back in quicker. You know? So hopefully you can cover that.
Also, if it's not too much to ask, could I add you as a budy on my steam list, that way maybe we could play Deathwing enhanced edition.

One thing i don't like about this game is how you die so easily, come on you are in terminator armor, even small weapons fuck you up. It makes you look like you are using paper for armor.
The progression has been frustrating for me, level 18 now and have "won" eight banners, and four weapon skins. I don't need anymore banners, i need some free buffs or a perk or two. This is why i dont gamble.

Is this game fixed? I want to play it so terribly bad, but it is just a nonstop crash fest and full of bugs that I just end up installing after trying to just finish one level without a glitch.
thehuntsman19 I still get glitches where the briefer muted himself 50% of the time on campaign but besides that, not a problem

Ps plus you need for online multiplayer on ps4 unless it's free to play but learning this is good but when going solo your stuck with the Chaplain
Am I really to trust a guy who can't even notice the 40%, and 60% cool downs on a piece of equipment and just say how it's stats and baller looking?
Nice idea for a video. Unfortunately, the game is HORRIBLY unbalanced right now, especially if you play with Friendly Fire off. I want to like the game but unless they seriously start patching and balancing I just don't bother. There is zero fun for me when 1-2 builds are ridiculously better than anything else.
Banners don't do anything, emblems don't do anything, 80% of the perks are not worth it, all upgrades that aren't maxed out are worthless and a trap for new players, several maxed out upgrades are worthless too, the game doesn't reward those who go the extra mile and play with FF on.
Seriously, the game is a mess right now but the potential is there. I'm disappointed that after so many betas and months of development we are STILL talking about Tactical being flat out bad compared to Chaplain and all of the things I mentioned above.
I really don't know why they failed so hard on this game....
