I'm a sucker for customization and seeing so many options really made my jaw drop. The devs nailed the look and feel of WH40k.
Default space wolves look great, but I'd love to create a raven guard squad.
Indick Baldreale imperial fist, alpha legion (pre heresy of course) the black legion, the shattered legions would be amazing for customizations I really want the shattered legions

I'm a bit disapointed that the Blood Angels have an apothecary instead of a sanguinary priest. Especially since the Space Wolves get their wolf priest and rune priest. He doesn't even get a blood chalice. What is this heresy?!

@@hehitmeinthekneegur1551 it's called the red grail, an artifact used by sanguinary priests to activate the geneseed of aspirants into becoming space marines of the chapter. It acts like a catalyst, aspirants drink blood of the sanguinary priest in the grail itself so that the recently implanted geneseed would activate.
Correct me if i'm wrong but they don't actually have one in their army? They do got the priest and the regular apothecary but I don't even recall them having a terminator apothecary let alone a termie blood priest

This looks like the best Space Hulk game so far by miles. I especially like the general stance and animations of the terminators, somehow they look the most lively and accurate to the tabletop to me than any of the other games we've had so far.
Holy emperor they need to remove the SFX as you move between options it's like torture.
The Sanguinary Priest gave me flashbacks from the dentist

@jdssnake and @AlekzHertz the army painter does tend to be a major selling point when it comes to 40K games, its one of the reasons why DoW was so great... at least until three came along.

Would love to see some more chapters added down the road. Also this level of customization options is awsome and should be done in more 40k games.
Ths customization is brilliant, now for god sake GW get with the times. Re master "Space Marine" for current consoles or somthing similar so we can cut up orks, duel chaos space marines, purge genestealers, shatter eldar, smash Necrons and overall develop a bloody good game.

Watching Chapter Master V. change the SpaceWolf to primarily black colors is extremely cathartic. I kept hearing Grimaldus on the high-walled ramparts of Helsreach shouting down to the advancing orcs below. If one day I find myself playing a WH40K game based on that epic battle, I'm going to have to check myself into a nearby hospital for a stress-test & an echocardiogram. That's the summit my battle-brothers. That's the pinnacle. We get a bloody, wartorn Helsreach in glorious 4K resolution, and there's not much else to live for after that . . .

Also, i think you can actually remove the cloak/cape or change it out for the Sergeants under the cloak tab/options...
I think the lack of emblem options on the left is fine. The crux terminatus is important.
They're actually not allowed to wear terminator armor without it.

Just looked at the steam page and you can get Heresy Grey for the space wolves if you preorder the game. They offer special emblems and colors fot each chapter as a bonus among the other bonuses for preorder

All black armor is described as an insult to Space marine armor actually, hence the reason Deathwatch have silver left arms and their right paldron Is the parent chapter color. That said I hope they expand the customization in the game, especially colors and chapter heraldry. Would love to play me some Storm Warden's terminators.

Disappointed there are no Salamanders, but I guess I can color Dark Angels all green and give them flamers.
they need to allow you to make Blood Ravens, but they get to use all the other chapter's customization options to represent them "liberating" lost gear :D
I enjoyed messing around with the customization. Some missed opportunities though the squads; for example, I would have expected the Dark Angels Sgt. to have some wings on top of his suit and maybe a Mace of Absolution as an option. Plus, all the army squads appear to get access to the same weapons; back when I was playing 7th, only Deathwing terminators for example could use plasma cannons - can they all use them now in 8th? I didn't notice anything akin to chapter tactics but to be fair, I only messed around with the customization and a single match last night, maybe that stuff is represented in the cards system. All I can say from the single match I tried is that in terms of first impressions, it has a higher production value than Ascension, but damn, it seems really hard! There are so many genestealers that spawn per turn now, I was dead by turn 6 LOL

Might be beating a dead horse, but Relic ought to take a look at this and see how 40k should be done.
Can you also edit the way your single player campaign Terminators look? Haven't found it yet.
Have you come across the option to run two full squads on a skirmish map for larger missions like in the board game or are you limited to just a single squad?

so the different between Tactics and Deathwing, what is the difference between the two games?
Am i the only one who thinks standard tactical space marines look more aesthetic than the terminator?
Also, if you aren't making a Blood Ravens squad with 5 librarians then are you even a 40k DoW fan?
The normal space marine armour always looked weirdly proportioned to me and the terminator doesn't have that issue. On the normal armour the arms and thighs always looked too small, the waist didn't look supportive enough and if they wore a thruster pack they always looked way too top heavy. The terminator looks perfectly proportioned and the helmet looks damn intimidating.

It sucks that the real Table top game doesn't allow the Ultramarine Terminator squad to use Plasma Cannons.😢
Is this only applicable to the multiplayer?
How do you guys feel about the pacing of the game? For me as a Space Marine player it feels rather slow, since you're limited now to only 4 action points per turn (unless you want to burn cards and even then you only get a couple extra command points shared across the squad). In the OG Space Hulk you could have your Sargeant re-roll up to 6 command points so things would go a lot faster.
My Skirmish battles are taking about an hour now :(
I kinda of like it, as a Terminator you're slow anyway, with Deathwing we were sprinting through missions, I kinda like having a game that takes sometime to play and purge in.

Grey armour for Wolf Priest? WP is combo of Apothecary+Chaplain in black armour. WP have Crozius Arcanum and Narthecium! (Good combo for Space Hulk: Deathwing) :-[
I hope they change the UI for the selection screen because it is super annoying with the speed and sfx making the selection process headache inducing...unless you are hopped up on speed and scrolling through at a frantic rate but it appears to be the UI so I hope that changes.
Sad thing that chapters have no gameplay differences based on their preferences. For example, Spacewolfs loves melee combat, while Sons of Guilliman prefer ranged combat (besides, genestealer wouldn't die because of thermonuclear alcohol's smell when get near of them XD. Is that a real reason of SW's power in melee? XD ).

How do you get to customise your characters, i bought the DLC but i cant find out how to do this, anyone know ?
When you goto to Skirmish, then create squads. After selecting a character, Then push the Y button on Xbox or triangle button on PS4. Not sure what it is for PC. Hope this helps you brother!
Forgot to mention, so far i dont think you can customize in campaign except for the weapons, cards and modules. Only in Skirmish and MP modes. But campaign does unlock custom parts and emblems to be used on custom squads.
One more important thing to add: for me i had to manually go under "manage game" and update the dlc. It was wierd but it was showing 1 update available and would not update when i highlighted the game, instead when i highlited the dlc, it gave me the option to update. Im on Xbox. Your customization should work without the dlc though. The dlc only gives extra stuff like new colors and extra emblems.

Yeah they look nice but you cant do any of this in campaign. Somthing that you cant read anywhere online. I bought the game thinking awe man the campaigns gonna be amazing with all the customization, but no you cant customize in campaign, if id known before buying it i wouldve understood, but no because of the lack of info online im left with buyers remorse and feeling like i got cheated. Space hulk ascension was better. Why couldnt they just do what they already did but better...
One year later, thank you for warning. I was starting to lose hair not finding just a simple answer to that simple question : can you customize your space marines in campaign. So weird I had to scour YT comments to finallly get a clear answer. Now I know, I'll try Ascencion instead
