Wow! What a boat. I lived aboard a Hans Christian for almost 10 years and really get what this boat offers. Also, as a couple you guys are great. Excuse me for saying., You two are the future of the world and will save our planet.
Beautiful. I used to work for island yachting centre back in the early 2000s. We where the closest to factory and would basically get the boat trailered to the nearby boat yard and rig it then ask what would you like on your yacht. Since we were the only broker that did everything in house and closest. We would be the standard for fitment of every new model that came out with every option available. Sadly that job went with the recession but it reintroduced to me the love of sailing and spoiled me with knowledge and the pleasure of working on such beautifully made boats. Best job I ever had
We visited the factory and got aboard this boat last week and my wife is excited -which is saying something! Now we have to find someone who’ll love our current boat as much as we do. Thanks for posting!
Im seriously looking at buying this boat. I have been following this build over the last year and as you have seen the addition for the work area versus having a extra cabin is a big plus of a boat this size. At the end of the day it has to be about the safety of being out on ocean and a yacht that can handle it no matter what the weather will throw at you! And this is a compliment, this is like a sailing version of a Nordhavn.
I agree. Sticker on this boat, equipped as it was was $675k. It was loaded. Watermaker, lithium’s, Gen set, performance sails, push button sailing, etc. All that and the size really make it a Goldie locks boat. That said, there are some 525/485s used for about 100k less(2012ish). They have the 3rd cabin/office and the huge aft locker with pass through from the owners cabin and those things are Sherman tanks. Their cockpits sit high, and they’ve got tons of volume. Good luck on your decision and if you get one, let me know.
Fantastic design :-) I love it. However, I would want a few changes (minor stuff) I have a "Danby" countertop dishwasher, which I think, would fit perfectly into the Microwave oven space (removing the woodwork). Then I would nix the Diesel Engine for a "Oceanvolt" sail drive and make the entire boat Electric. Mind you, Oceanvolt systems don't come cheap. They are the RR of electric motor systems. I would have to contact Oceanvolt to see if they can fit the system into the IP design. But I don't see why it wouldn't, looking at the design of this boat. I love the workshop area and everything else. I sail solo so the electric winches are a huge bonus :-) Great job Island Packet. I think this is my boat... Oh! Great video. You've covered everything important :-)
tbh, if going Offshore, I wouldn’t have electric propulsion on anything, and definitely not even the Tender. I’ve been stuck badly on other chronically Underpowered Sailboats, literally unable to get out of Overfalls for literally hours and stuck between headlands withconstantly changing wind directions slamming us, and as for a battery powered tender, when conditions change unexpectedly, waves and wind pick up, that hour of Battery to potter around in windless millpond conditions can see you trying to make headway with a max power setting, and that battery can be flat in under 10 minutes. That isn’t a happy place to be either. I’ve been unable to get to shore in bad conditions, and only got in thanks to a guy in a speedboat stopped to check us out, and kindly towed us in. As I see things right now, having lived off grid for over 30 years, there is still nothing suitable in the foreseeable future that for doing Real heavy duty work can replace Diesel, and to have enough duration of power, and enough power to rely on safely for a Tender, the hours of fuel and speed of a gasoline Outboard on a tender, are Safety Priorities. That may not be the most popular thing to say, but at Sea, Nature doesn’t take prisoners of those not properly prepared. Drowning definitely isn’t a fun Result for taking Liberties is it, and neither is living in hope that somebody can come along to save your ass. I’m commenting like this, because I’m seeing way too many people who really should know better pushing unfit for purpose stuff for money that can easily get people very Dead if they think they can rely on it when the Shit gets serious. ☹️
I'm an IP35 owner and Island Packet did an amazing job with this model. The list on the 439 is $499K, I'm wondering what the price of this vessel is with all the extras??
I spoke with the owner of Island Packet at the show and he said as equipped it was $675k. But they had a battery setup that would power the AIr conditioning for 20 hours before needing the generator, performance sails, electric winches, watermaker, dodger and Bimini, the works.
Thank you! After I posted the comment I found your reply to Andy. I agree with your comment on the 52' & 48' but this 439 is really laid out well and and equipped but that comes with a cost. For now I'll have to be happy with my ip!!
@@spacebassli I agree with you 100%. And like you, for now I will continue to love what I have, and one day, I will upgrade. I am excited for the direction of design and features trending and will continue to obsess over them.
The chart table is optional. The owner for this particular boat didn’t want it. I think the fenders in the boat were ok in my opinion because of direct access from the cockpit to the work/storage space which is really just a lazerette with access from inside the boat.
But I do agree, I probably wouldn’t waste storage space in there with fenders. I would probably install a few holders for them on the deck. But that’s just me.
@ Donkey Kong "Island Packet rep drinking a beer? Is this normal?"--Donkey Kong I guess it is if you're drinking Corona which is, in itself, a light beer But he was drinking a Corona Light beer. That means that he is/was drinking dishwater.
It's a pity it looks so dated. Give me a Euro look bluewater boat in blue or white (not that off-white ivory - yuk!) which doesn't slam, and you'd have a winner.

That is really kind of you. I truly loved this boat and hope to graduate toe it one day. I'm also looking forward to the new 42 Motorsailer.

Very nice sail boat. Well designed and perfect "Live aboard".
Wow. That is one well designed boat. Hard core live aboard

A gorgeous boat, now I got to make some gorgeous money.
Lovely boat.. and very safe I struggle with the fact that there's not a proper chart table and why fenders in the boat?

Yeah, It's called Boat Life, maybe you should try it? Maybe not======
