    I work in a repair yard, we specialize in European boats primarily. The downturn in quality since they started continent wide construction/assembly has been getting worse. We do far more warranty stuff on supposedly new vessels than in the past. It reinforces my belief that there will always be a market for boats built in a dedicated facility by people who take pride in the finished product . Island Packets have always been a pleasure to service in that regard.

    Beautiful boat with magnificent woodwork. What's interesting for me is now IP offers companionway doors with a window and a raised panel. Several years ago I ran an ad in the IP newsletter (at the encouragement of the previous IP owner) to build similar doors. I made doors for numerous IP owners around the country, shipping them with thorough installation instructions. After two quarters of running the ad, I pulled it as I was bombarded with a backlog of orders. When Turner Marine in Mobile, Alabama, was an IP dealer, I made several door sets for new owners. For one IP 44 owner, I also made a set of doors with screens. That owner also purchased from a sub tier supplier a larger teak cockpit table, which I had to modify to fit. For another IP 44 owner, I made a teak table extension with a leg support turned from a piece of recycled teak that was the original decking of the battleship Wisconsin. It's also interesting that IP now offers colors other than their traditional beige. Several years ago, Dickie Scruggs, the famed lawyer who put together the tobacco lawsuit, purchased an IP and had Turner Marine paint the hull midnight blue. IP was enraged that he did that. I also made a pair of companionway doors for his IP.

    Very nice, well done again guys. I like the mahogany finish but personally I would prefer a lighter countertop. That is a nice contrast between that wood and the color of the settee leather I think. Great to have all that fridge space but I would have definitely had the washer dryer in there, out cruising that is such a good thing to have. have to say though that last boat I think hull #5 was pretty much my perfect boat.

      Thank you for the comments! The greatest thing about the Next Generation of Island Packet is that we are giving our owners the choice to build their boat's the way they want. Some of the customization ideas our owner's come up with quickly become optional add-ons, or even the standard for next year's model lines. If you like #5, you definitely will want to check out #8!!!

    So, when is the next generation 38 to 39 footer coming out? That's what I consider to be the "Goldilocks" size, it's certainly the right size for me. I think a new gen IP in this size will out sell the new 34 and 43 footers put together.

    • @IslandPacketYachts
      @IslandPacketYachts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 349 is 38' LOA. The 439 is 47'. There are currently no plans to put any other boat models out besides the 42 MS and the redesigned 485. Thank you for your input!

      @@IslandPacketYachts - Thanks for the reply. I think it's great that the 42 MS is coming back, it's a great boat for those who understand a MS. One feature that I think would be appreciated, and very functional, would be to extend the roof deck aft to the stern so that launching and retrieving a dinghy with the end of the boom, like you have done with the 485 in the past, would greatly enhance the ownership experience of this boat. I look forward to seeing the new rendition of your MS.

    A request, I'd like to see how the mast 12v and electronics are connected/disconnected when stepping. At our yard all masts are removed during the winter haul. For some owners the electric connections are often an afterthought and not made for routine service leading to issues if not taking up a lot of time in the evolution.
    Thanks

    Great job on the video. Very nice boat! It was good to hear Darrel go into more of the technical side. That stuff is important to sailors. We want to see it all. Are you guys still offering the jet type bow thruster? I see that they went with the traditional prop style. With 600ah of LiFePo4 you can basically do whatever you want. On the video editing side, I think it would be good to show more of the boat and use Darrell's commentary as voice over when it comes to the things he described that you couldn't get film of because he was accessing it. For instance, the storage area covered by the fabric in the shop area. You'll have to go back and get footage of it, but it might be better since we won't be left wanting. As always, balance is key. Keep up the great work. IPY=USA!

      Thank you very much for the comments and feedback! We are going to try and bring a variety of content going forward. Including more technical information, and more details on certain features of the boat. We do still offer the jet bow thruster, we give our owners the option. As great as 600 ah is, our last boat, 439-05 "Zale" had double the capacity, at 1200 ah. We definitely are planning to keep improving the content we are putting out, so keep that feedback coming!

      It's for adjusting the shaft log. We still have some bugs to figure out with our new wireless microphone system. Last time it kept cracking. This time it wasn't super clean!
