    been using an AVermedia PCie card for a while now, and i'm absolutely stoked on it, i don't see it mentioned often at all, and it may not be the case for the Duo, but they require no drivers, literally slot it in, and everything is recognised in OBS as it should be... it was a big selling point for me, and i don't believe i've downloaded a single driver for it in the multiple years i've been running mine...

    For Nintendo games the elgato hd capture card works great, want to do more PC games but will need to start a new channel for that since my audience is mostly Nintendo exclusives fans on my main channel, I built the budget PC alpha gaming recommended and it works great for streaming and playing at 1080p 60fps, it was a bit more expensive because of the price gougers, cost about 150 more, but now it's pretty insane where prices are now!!!

    Welp, not buying a Camlink anymore. I was going to upgrade to an internal capture card (I'm on a Live Gamer Extreme atm) relatively soon. Now, I don't mind selling off my LGX and picking this one up.
    I've been using Avermedia for years now and I can testify that their website and apps are horrendous. The cards I've used (LGX and LGP) did the job well enough but had issues at times. My LGX these days has been giving me an "out of range" screen. I need to unplug and replug the USB cable to get the game feed back online. It could be a driver thing (bad ecosystem = user never notified of driver updates). Overall, though, all tech has its issues and their products have never given me severe problems. I will buy the Duo with confidence.

    This is a really cool idea, I was really hoping it was a dual in and out card since that would have been perfect for my setup but thinking about it that card would be so specific to people that have multiple systems they use. This 2 in one out does actually make a lot more sense though. Most quality cards are so close to the price already it’d be pointless to not at least grab it Incase you ever want to run another input, it opens the door for so much customization opportunities at better prices and less clutter. Honestly could see myself picking this up in the future.

    I think something like this, but in a portable version such as that elgato one that allows you to capture with an sd card would be so nice. Going to a LAN party or event or something like that and being able to capture both gameplay and a camera would be really nice for content creators. Something else that would be awesome, but I don’t know if it’s even possible, would be to be able to capture a microphone input. Then content creator could go to events and make full videos out of it

    I tend to set my monitors to the scaling setting I want instead of using scaling at all. For instance, on my 4K monitor, instead of setting it to 4k at 150%, I just set the monitor to 2560x1440. I get more frames, reduce the load on my GPU, and I don't have to worry about scaling settings screwing anything up. I have an image I made to help with that, but, uh, I need to find a way to link it? Whatever. It works.
    Deets:
    8k @ 150% = 5120x2880 | 200% = 2840x2160 (4K)
    4k @ 150% = 2560x1440 (1440p) | 200% = 1920x1080 (1080p)
    1440p @ 150% = 1707x960 (weird) | 200% = 1280x720 (720p)
    1080p @ 150% = 1280x720 (720p) | 200% = 960x540 (why?)

    Love your videos man! I have a serious question, most like a dumb question. Pass through a are only for consoles right? All you need to do when using dual PC is use the input for the capture card to link the 2 PC. Idk why I’m coming up on a brain fart with this pass through. I have the 60pro and I still get my 180hz on my monitor and still capture 1080p @60 to stream. So I’m lost on what else pass through is for besides console. Help me out if you the answer! Thanks!

    Why are you complaining when you are putting a 4x card into a 1x slot? That might also cause issues with capturing. Use the correct 4x slot for a 4x card. That will solve a lot of issues.

    • @CenturionAlexander
      @CenturionAlexander 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You really don't need PCIe 3 4x Bandwidth for 1080p recording. A single lane can do 7880 Mbps, meanwhile my 4k60 Pro Mk2 from Elgato only uses 140 Mbps to record 4k60 with HDR. That leaves so much spare bandwidth that even this card having multiple 1080p captures and whatever overhead is not going to max it out.

    • @glassd
      @glassd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CenturionAlexander I understand the bandwidth. It's not just that. If the card worked perfectly at 1x why would they design it on a 4x pcb? It must have something to do with communication or avoid PLX chips or not putting the capture card through the chipset. It might solve other issues that people have with these things.

    • @CenturionAlexander
      @CenturionAlexander 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glassd any of a million reasons unrelated to performance. Economies of scale (4x pcb's are about the most common in the world and thus while taking slightly more resources they tend to be a lot cheaper than the more exotic 1x and 8x ones), reverse compatibility with gen 2, 1.1 and 1.0 boards, slightly more stability because by virtue of the larger contact there's less sagging, the list goes on. To take a relevant example, the RTX 2080 Ti is the first consumer GPU that managed to exhaust the PCIe 3.0 8X standard (it is the first GPU that actually scored a higher FPS going to 16X instead of just sticking with 8X). This means that Nvidia and AMD have been pushing out 16X cards for nearly a decade when performance wise there was literally no need.

    • @glassd
      @glassd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CenturionAlexander A lot of this information is untrue. There are a ton of 1x cards. Sound cards, Network cards. This list goes on. 1x cards would be the cheapest to produce. The traces and gold plated contacts are the most expensive part of producing PCBs. As for the graphics cards not needing 16x. There are a lot of cases I can prove that wrong. Certain games and applications require more bandwidth than let's say CS:GO or whatever people use to test. This isn't a 1 speed fits all situation at all. There are many reasons that more bandwidth can be required. Including crossfire/SLI. Like I was saying there must have been a reason they went with a 4x card instead of a 1x that aren't going to be limited to the direct bandwidth of the video streams.

    So is this just a fancy HD60 or a lower version of 4k . I mean, this is a super tough call actually, considering i had both .Even recording in 1080 on both the quality of the 4k is 10 times better. My stream looks better. My 1st thought was i have to have this card , but it might be a downgrade in quality to add a camera. It will be fantastic for people that don't have a card at all and have a camera that will work. And regardless if both cards recording and streaming at same settings i see the difference in quality with the 4k there is no way i could or would EVER downgrade to HD60 quality again no matter what they add to the card.

    About the flashback recording. Don't you use an Nvidia card? I'm asking because this has that exact functionality built in.

  • @NoobieTaco

    Heads up there is a way to flashback record in OBS so if you want that feature you can still make this card work.

    personally i want lower costing ones, maybe if elgato or aver media made like a 1080p30fps 720p60fps one, or just kept older models on sale at reduced prices, cos basically Australian streamers only sub $300 option is a camlink at $129 and at that point you might as well go all the way down and pick up that $20 knockoff that words the exact same
    EDIT: or like idk just fix the issue with pricing and availability (no its not pandemic i remember in 2016 when i wanted to be a cringe minecraft youtuber cap cards were still like double the cost to what americans pay)
