GT1 inspired Murcielago too low? - Lamborghini LP640 project Pt11

- That's it! The suspension work for the GT1 aero on the Murcielago is finally complete. In this episode we TIG weld the aluminium uprights, finish the upper & lower arms & drop the car back onto its wheels for an alignment.
Huge thanks to Craig from Dynotorque for dealing with my insane requests & over the top ideas once again!

I'm at the point where I need to start seriously thinking about what wheels I'm going to use. They need to be 19" & go up to 13" width for the rear. What do you reckon I should use?
I don't know if I could say you should use them but I'd love to see it on a set of HRE 454 wheels from their vintage line.
Very Lamborghini. I'm thinking more multispoke race car styling though I think.
Something phone-dial and multi piece.

Everytime I watch one of your videos it makes me wanna do something else to my Stagea! I'm currently figuring out how to make my own carbon fiber widebody fenders. I'm also in the process to cutting up a factory wing and adding about 7-8 inches in length along with making custom wing stands for support that will attach lower on the hatch. Every video I watch gives me more motivation and a push to just try and do something I've never tried before. Keep up the amazing work cant wait to see this beast on the road!!

Guys, after welding that front hub, it needs heat treatment, to TF designation. At a guess, I think the original casting would be LM25. After that welding, it's been annealed, and lost 50% of its tensile strength. LM25-TF, Sand Cast 0.2% Proof Stress (N/mm2 ) 200-250, Tensile Stress (N/mm2 ) 220-260 Chill Cast0.2% Proof Stress (N/mm2 ) 230-280, Tensile Stress (N/mm2 ) 280-320. In fact, I'd much rather see a CNC lump for the whole part in the end.

This project is insane (In a good way). Could Craig make up a similar shock suspension with lift for a stock murci? Mine are starting to give me trouble and cost 4k each side to replace.
Unfortunately not. The standard shock is extremely short. It's mad that they managed to squeeze a lift piston in there.
Bro those are the wheels I just ordered, put them back in the box!

You probably need to change some settings in the ECU with the new sensor setup
For the ABS? It's the same sensor & the wheel has the same amount of teeth. That's the whole reason we spent so much time doing it this way, so it works exactly as it did.
Absolutely SPLENDIFEROUS as always. However, would I be wrong saying that I wish you left the control arms unfinished? Just seems wrong to hide all that beauty underneath the powdercoat. I get why it was done so I ain’t mad at all😁👍🏽👍🏽

This front suspension - what an achievement.
Like Your supercar You can not do without an KW HLS (2 or 4) lift system.
Thanks! The rear is still a little high, so the nose will lift up a bit naturally. However I will definitely be using that front lift system a lot.

If you decide to get some hubs made,contact rakeway engineering in stoke-on-trent. There alloy cnc hubs are unreal. I run them on my offroad race car. Fully custom made.

It doesn't need a great deal. I already modified the rear lower arms before I started the RGT stuff. I want to make sure it sit's low enough & the suspension works as it should, but I don't intend on getting too crazy at this stage.

Thanks! It's -2.5 camber, 7* castor & 2mm toe in at the moment. As with all my cars, this is likely to change a little when I first start to drive it.

Pretty sure he replied to a similar comment on an earlier video. This is mainly a street car and centrelocks need stupid amounts of torque (big torque wrench required) to put on.
As said, no centrelocks for me. As cool as they are they're a massive pain in the butt & restrict wheel size & offset hugely. Getting this sitting right is super important to me.
Why not base it on the R-GT Murcielago?
It is. The GT1 Murcielago is an R-GT. It's the last generation before Reiter Engineering moved to R-SV (which is pretty much identical, just a lot uglier).
