    I had come to terms with 120fps being 8-bit, so this is a great bonus. Looked great on my setup, not grainy at all. Thanks!

    Using S&Q to shoot 120fps means no audio is recorded. Using the XAVC-S HD to shoot 120fps 8-bit saves Audio with your file, for circumstances where you want to slow down only specific points of your recording, but want audio in the rest of the file - a more flexible method when running and gunning. The great thing is we have the option for 10 bit with no audio, or 8 bit with audio. It's not perfect, but unlike Canon, we have the option to save audio at least.

    • @EasyTigerCreative
      @EasyTigerCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Very true! For my if I shoot 120fps I don’t need sound 98% of the time since I just do sound effects on that type of footage. But true if you want sound then the s&q mode isn’t for you but you give up the 10 bit colour which I’d take that over the audio any day!

      @@EasyTigerCreative You are absolutely right about taking 10-bit over the audio.
      But can we not do the following if audio is absolutely required? Record the audio separately. Interpret the slowed down S&Q footage as 120fps on a 120fps timeline. Sync the Audio to this footage & export an intermediate file that is 120fps with audio. Now this file can be used to slow down & speed up as per one's wishes! It's a roundabout way but at least it is there if you need audio with 10 bit 120fps on A7iv.

    Hi Kevin, great video you've made here. I've got a few questions I'd like to ask:
    1. Are there any video modes or S&Q modes that ONLY works with a CF express type A card? (Or V90 cards are fine for all?)
    2. Is the 10 bit FHD 120fps only in APS-c mode or it also does full frame?
    3. I've seen another youtuber find out that using clear image zoom on top of the aps-c crop for FHD is going to make the footage as sharp as in 4k. Wonder if slowmo is the same?
    4. How is the rolling shutter performance in 10 bit FHD 120fps?

    • @EasyTigerCreative
      @EasyTigerCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you! And let me answer your questions as best as I can!
      1. You can do all the same video modes from cf to v90. I have the cf cards on my a7siii and v90 on my a7iv and have the same modes available for highest recording.
      2. The 120fps is full frame mode!
      3. I haven’t tried that out so not sure!
      4. The rolling shutter isn’t too bad. It all depends sometimes with the movement. I’ve noticed it more on the 24 or 60 than the 120, but could be cause it’s slowed down. But honestly not enough notice in my eyes. I’ve filmed some shots with my a7iv only that I posted on my channel if you’d like more example footage!

    Great Video. So hear me out. I am planning to get a7iv and I am getting it for 4k 60fps. However, since it is cropped, i am thinking about getting sigma 18-50mm f2-8 and use that as a main lens so I would not have to think too much about crop factor while I am shooting video or taking pictures. But now that i have seen your upscaling 1080 HD 10bit 4.2.2 footage in 4k. I am just taken by it. Is it possible if you could share a sample 1080 p 10bit 4.2.2 footage so that i could try to upscale it on my very basic video editing software Fillmora X and see if could get good 4k upscale out of it? I also want to get cropped sensor lens due to it smaller size and price. Otherwise, I will stick with kit 28-70 Sony full frame lens and might get Tamron 20 mm f2.8 full frame lens. What is your take on it?

    • @EasyTigerCreative
      @EasyTigerCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That sounds like a great idea to get the a7iv with either a sigma 18-50mm which I’m guessing would be either from a canon with a converter or is that for apsc? But I’d try to get a used Tamron 28-75mm since they’re a lot nicer for the price! I had the 20mm 2.8 but sold it since I got the Tamron 17-28 used for a great price so made sense haha the 20mm isn’t bad, just the autofocus isn’t always super great with the hunting it can do sometimes and a little bit of noise. But I’d try to get either a used Tamron 17-28 and 28-75 then you’d be super set or a 24-70 sigma used too!
      And if you want to go to my insta @easytigercreative to send me a DM I can get your email to send you a 1080p 10 but 4:2:2 footage sample to test out and see if it works for you!

      If you change the playback speed to 60 instead of 24, the bit rate goes to 222. Then bring the clip to Premiere and reinterpret footage to 24fps playback. I haven’t been able to do a good test to see if there is a difference in quality but in theory there should be.

      The recording frame rates is that it slows my footage down to a 24fps video from a 120fps recording. That way I won’t need to do that in post and the camera does it for me.

      You can either have a timeline that’s already in 4k and then you import your video put scale to frame or just increase the size of the video. Also when you export the video you can put settings for it to be exported to 4k
