Biltmore | Visiting with Huell Howser | KCET

Huell starts our day with a tour of the magnificent Regal Biltmore Hotel, which has been a part of Los Angeles since it opened in 1923. The Biltmore has housed numerous celebrities and every American President that has been in office since it opened. After our tour Huell attends the 75th anniversary gala that is an exact re-creation of opening night 1923.

I've gone to Pershing Square for years right across the street from the Biltmore n never knew it's history thanks huell howser

The band leader in this episode, Johnny Crawford, played the character of Mark in the Rifleman. I recognized him right away and connected the name. I looked it up on Wikipedia and read that he started this band in 1992.

Such a shame that the current owners of the hotel have let so much of the glamor slip away. Rooms are outdated, the service is a shell of what it once was. It's now operated like a Holiday Inn within a grand dame of an old hotel.

The Biltmore was NOT opened before the Ambassador. The Ambassador opened in 1921.

Yes! That's himself! I wish Huell would have mentioned it...I get the feeling he didn't know and the focus was on the bandleader.
I've been watching episodes for the past week...he was simply Huell...one of a kind! ❤
