- Right next to the old Egyptian Theater on Hollywood Blvd., this classic diner has been restored to its former glory. Huell is joined by the new owner, members from the LA Conservancy, Hollywood Heritage, as well as a few old timers - who remember it from way back when. Hollywood really is making a comeback.

My grandfather's first job when he came here to America in the 1920's was @ "The Pig & Whistle." I am so happy that it's still going strong!!! ❤️⏳🐷🌈

@@huey555k I think it’s now closed and again was sold. They took off the name too. Sucks. Places like this shouldn’t be torn down, it’s history.
Love these shows. Love Huell and his enthusiasm. I worked at a pub in Wimbledon Park UK called the "Pig &Whistle.

The name Pig ‘n Whistle was a clever homonym play on the Old English words “piggin,” which is a wooden bucket, and “wassail,” which is mulled cider, so phonetically the name means “Bucket of Mulled Cider” in Old English.
So much symbolism in those tiles!!!!
Used their counter many times when assistant manager at the Egyptian until 1950.

They had a “Pig N’ Whistle In Sebastian, Florida. I lived there from 2004-2008
Used to go there when i visited a buddy who lived off Las Palmas around 2005..Very good looking staff.. Waitress told me most of the staff were looking to get into movies or tv..Big shock
RIP. On the other hand, the Italian restaurant Miceli’s (that seemed a LOT more interesting and authentic anyway) is still going as of January 2024.
Probably named by a Brit . Pig and Whistle is a UK pub name from 1800s, like Dog and Duck , Cat & Custard Pot , Bull and Spectacles etc

Unforturnately it is completely gone now.
New owners started demolishing /renovating without a permit - and despite a stop work order from the city. Bye bye Pig n' Whistle and hello Cantina Tempo.
