Alpine was running semi slicks: Dunlop Direzza go look them up. That's why it's so comfortable in the corners when the GT4 is struggling for grip on it's road tyres (yes Cup 2's are road tyres). The Alpine also has race suspension set up by one of the best ring specialists, so no surprise at all it held it's own against what is ultimately still a road car with road suspension alignment.

What a great car the Alpine is. Was that Renault a regular Alpine or an Alpine S? I wish we could buy it in the United States. I think the Alpine is also the most beautiful car available today. I can only speak of what you show in your video and it seems you guys were having a lot of fun for sure. Said that, Caymans have been my tool of choice for track time for a long time due to the purity of them and I think I know them very well and I do make them justice going around any track in the USA. Of course the GT4 is the holy grail of Caymans and the only faster Caymans are properly race prepped ones which are lighter and faster. I also instruct in high performance driving education for 15 years which is something I really love doing. The facts from your video are that you were short shifting the GT4 in a lot of places and you were giving space to the Alpine voluntarily or involuntarily. You were not carrying enough speed through some turns and you were over braking a bit. Your turn-in was a bit impatient and early in a lot of turns which slows you down everywhere. You could also be more precise and smooth with your steering, brake and gas inputs which would yield for you much faster lap times because you do not have to waste lap time catching the car. I mean all of that with the utmost respect. There is no way a car with the power of the GT4 and with wider and bigger front tires than the rears on the Alpine would be slower around a track like your video depicts. I assume you are in the GT4 factory rubber Cup 2 Michelin but even if you were in street rubber with say A300 + wear rate and the Alpine was in R compounds say A200 - , I may buy that you could not reel him if the tires were that different. At the end of the day, I still feel that the GT4 would have the edge around a track with such terminal speeds compared to this Renault Alpine. The same driver should drive both cars and then it would be a lot more objective. Keep having fun!

That A110 goes out of the bends like a cannonball, are you sure is stock? I mean that Porsche its supossed to have 400 hp and it gets smoked every time...
So much "wrong" in this video and i love it. Alpine A110 just disappearing in the straight at the face of Cayman GT4 (that has like 100+ hp more?), how they both *casually* passes 911 GT3? Awesome stuff
Alpine has double wishbones front and rear plus it only weighs 1250 kg with driver and fuel, it's indeed a very fast track car with excellent handling.
If the Alpine was manual, I'd buy one, end of story. But they're not, so I'm getting a GT4. Don't care if the Alpine is faster, the sound of the GT4 will become a rare commodity in years to come, and it's manual only. Brilliant package.
More than just aftermarket tyres: Semi slicks, and not just a lowered suspension: a race suspension set up by one of the most famous ring specialist companies. Put that up against a car (even a more powerful one) with road tyres (Cup 2's are road tyres) with a stock road suspension alignment and what you get is the video above. No surprise at all.
Alpine late braking was aggressively great. Haha.. it seem alpine driver is a professional.. can you see the way he/she control the car in good racing line. The entry and exits are perfect for me.
It's really weird that I saw that Alpine and got really excited that it's the new one, and then at the top right the suggested video is the new Alpine in the same blue from carfection. TH-cam algorithm is my homie!
When you say the A110 is pimped by Manthey, does this include and power or chassis upgrades? The A110 is a fantastic car but I am surprised the GT4 couldn't get closer
ECU I suppose, so there you have a solid 300hp in a very light car, and with arguably better line over the track that's why the GT4 can't catch up especially in tight sections. Impressive from both drivers.
What were the mods on that Alpine!? I hope you sold the Cayman GT4, made some profit from a speculator or Porsche brand snob, and bought an Alpine after this experience! And that's not even the A110S which is better suited to a track! Time to order an Alpine A110 for myself. Damn!
Finally somebody who gets the significance of fitting semi slick tyres and a full race set up suspension (set up by one of the most famous ring specialist companies no less).
Cool! Both are fine, but with my A110S can't wait to visit the Nürburgring! ... I think it would show up with similar performance but better handling inside of turns ...
Out of breath just watching it. Lovely work rate. Whatever has been said about the lines from the onboard or short shifting and such, that Alpine looks an eminently easier machine to throw about and pick and adjust your line. The onboard on that might show it being more hectic. I still think I'd rather own one of Stuttgart's finest, but when the relaunched Alpine first came about pitted against Porsche everyone was laughing. At least now it's a genuine dilemma for the serious enthusiast. I think I'd prefer the Alpine, but I don't like the steering wheel and the infotainment stinks - I find the rest of the build inoffensive of you take into account the weight saving principle. But the biggest issue... Constantly explaining your choice to people who would never understand...!
The proper line is always a "Late Apex", little schematic is better than word: rmcbmwcca.org/DrivingSchool/Instructors/turn.html 1:58 the Alpine was off by 0.5 to 1m I feel like the cayman has an apex too early in some turn but it could be a visual shenanigan
R.S. Overland The gt4 is at 380 hp vs A 110 at 288. Flat 6 vs turbo 4. I guess the biggest advantage for the Alpine is weight, 2500 so lb is extremely light which gives the hp/weight ratio advantage. However, the Gt4 should have gain on the A110 coming out a corner, the flat 6 torque should have an edge over the A110 in stock trim.
@@hl3369 Alpine is 255hp not 288 ;) . 288 it's A110S new version. Out of corner low weigth is bigger adventage thant power. Big power is adventage when already moving fast.
Great driving but check how the Alpine engages the turns and check how the driver of the video does... He's attacking those turns way too early losing some speed on the way. There's even a moment, almost at the end of the race where the vibrator pushes him away from the turn at 6:05. You have to hit the apex in order to reduce the steering lock but yeah easier to say than doing. Respect anyway to both drivers and cool video.
Did nobody here catch the fact the Alpine is on semi-slick tyres? That'll make all the difference, easily worth a few seconds around a 1.5 mile track let alone the length of the ring. Plus it's on aftermarket KW suspension. So what a surprise it's better around a track than something with road car tyres, (cup 2's are still firmly road tyres, not even close to semi-slicks).
@FUCK SHIT To be fair the Alpine is not completly stock, tires and dampers are upgraded which is certainely the right thing to do if you go on track. On open roads the Alpine stock is great. No need to upgrade.

So much "wrong" in this video and i love it. Alpine A110 just disappearing in the straight at the face of Cayman GT4 (that has like 100+ hp more?), how they both *casually* passes 911 GT3? Awesome stuff
Alpine has double wishbones front and rear plus it only weighs 1250 kg with driver and fuel, it's indeed a very fast track car with excellent handling.
shingnosis 1130 with fuel full...
My 407 has double wishbone too
Very Nice
plus this one has semi slick tyres and race suspension set up for the ring specifically by one of the rings most famous specialists
If the Alpine was manual, I'd buy one, end of story. But they're not, so I'm getting a GT4. Don't care if the Alpine is faster, the sound of the GT4 will become a rare commodity in years to come, and it's manual only. Brilliant package.
The Alpine is not faster - read my comment...
SixPotShot Its faster - read the comments of OP or Porsche driver.
Men the Alpine even with gear shift padll is much more fun to drive just test and you will die of shock
I'm a big fan of the A110 and I didn't expect that !! (even with after market tyres and lower suspensions)
Zehr schön ! Bravo à Alpine et à Porsche !
I really expected the Porsche to reel in the Alpine on the straight bits! Enjoyed watching this👍

@@sixpotshot what did it say? Can't be bothered to find it.
Belle course...😉
Alpine late braking was aggressively great. Haha.. it seem alpine driver is a professional.. can you see the way he/she control the car in good racing line. The entry and exits are perfect for me.
Any in board footage of the Alpine?
L'Argus Alpine on nurburgring
Jeez that alpine is quick and looks very confidence inspiring to drive at the limit
It's really weird that I saw that Alpine and got really excited that it's the new one, and then at the top right the suggested video is the new Alpine in the same blue from carfection. TH-cam algorithm is my homie!
Sorry for the roughness but the Alpine slapped the shit out of the Porsche.
Seems like a lot of coasting and short shifting in the GT4
When you say the A110 is pimped by Manthey, does this include and power or chassis upgrades? The A110 is a fantastic car but I am surprised the GT4 couldn't get closer
ECU I suppose, so there you have a solid 300hp in a very light car, and with arguably better line over the track that's why the GT4 can't catch up especially in tight sections. Impressive from both drivers.
@@TheSkyline35 Apparently appart from KW and tires the Alpine is Stock, ie no ECU modifications.
the main difference is: the Porsche driver was probably grinding his teeth, while the guy in the Alpine had a big smile on his face ;)
enjoed it deeply!, nice driving for both.
What a f*cking battle! Bravo gents
What were the mods on that Alpine!?
I hope you sold the Cayman GT4, made some profit from a speculator or Porsche brand snob, and bought an Alpine after this experience! And that's not even the A110S which is better suited to a track!
Time to order an Alpine A110 for myself. Damn!
Nice ride!
Astonishing to see how the alpine is transfigured compared to the stock version.
Finally somebody who gets the significance of fitting semi slick tyres and a full race set up suspension (set up by one of the most famous ring specialist companies no less).
The power of lightness. If only Porsche will make 2400 lbs street car.
Read my comment...
SixPotShot Your comment is nonsense because the car in video has stock power level
Great vid, surprising result I’m gaining more and more respect for the Alpine. I wonder how my Exige would’ve faired amongst you two 🤔 all great cars!
Alpine would leave it for dead bro 😂
Weight ... is the key.
However... great drivers!
Nice

Now lets try With the alpine A110 S
At 4.19 it seems to be ...sheett...Viva le bleu 🙂! Great performs coming from France 🍾60000€ 😫
You guys already played on Spa circuit;-) any footage
is this the new 2019 cayman gt4 with the 4.0L 420 hp engine or is it the old 3.8 with 385hp?
The old one
This is 385 hp
Cool! Both are fine, but with my A110S can't wait to visit the Nürburgring! ... I think it would show up with similar performance but better handling inside of turns ...
is your gt4 stock?
Excellent drive, dear Sir. Far superior driver than Alpine driver!
Do you know if there is a chip on the A110? An exhaust?
Exhaust + engine is 100% stock
@FUCK SHIT KW Suspension and Semi Slicks...😉
The description mentions the alpine was prepared by Manthey racing
You don't have to explain when no one can catch up with you.
It's on semi slicks - makes a huge difference to the grip.
1:56 is that a good line? Looks like he missed the Apex to me
The proper line is always a "Late Apex", little schematic is better than word: rmcbmwcca.org/DrivingSchool/Instructors/turn.html
1:58 the Alpine was off by 0.5 to 1m
I feel like the cayman has an apex too early in some turn but it could be a visual shenanigan
I wonder what modification the A110 has ? It actually pulling away from the Gt4 out of a corner. I mean the gt4 engine is double in capacity.
But HP is not double. Alpine is faster stock from the data
R.S. Overland 252 !!!!!!!!!
not a fan of the look of the Alpine but have to admit its got great handling and weight distribution.
Sure the alpine is less 130hp claimed by constructors ?
What ??
Best part of this video is how gentle the driver’s hands are, unlike those ham fisted death grip POV videos
The Alpine is more than likely moded, or it could be that the Alpine driver is more experienced?
That’s a great ride although I feel like the GT4 was always short shifted from 3rd to 4th but am no Nurburg expert nor have the in car feeling
A110 say you good bye ! 😁😂😂😊
This video is peaceful to watch
Great driving but check how the Alpine engages the turns and check how the driver of the video does... He's attacking those turns way too early losing some speed on the way. There's even a moment, almost at the end of the race where the vibrator pushes him away from the turn at 6:05. You have to hit the apex in order to reduce the steering lock but yeah easier to say than doing.
Respect anyway to both drivers and cool video.
Alpina suuuper quick
Did nobody here catch the fact the Alpine is on semi-slick tyres? That'll make all the difference, easily worth a few seconds around a 1.5 mile track let alone the length of the ring. Plus it's on aftermarket KW suspension. So what a surprise it's better around a track than something with road car tyres, (cup 2's are still firmly road tyres, not even close to semi-slicks).
I wish america got alpines.. I would pick it over any new car in a heartbeat. Especially because of how light they are.
Welchen cayman / specs fährst du hier ? Danke
@FUCK SHIT To be fair the Alpine is not completly stock, tires and dampers are upgraded which is certainely the right thing to do if you go on track. On open roads the Alpine stock is great. No need to upgrade.
