    bro I completely agree....there's something to be said about a piece of gear that makes you want to create and that inspires you rather than just looking at specs and what's best

    Totally get what you're saying about the change in your photography and getting the bangers vs documenting daily life. Great video Thomas. I'm loving my x-e4 at the moment, but I do still miss my x100v that I sold.

    • @Schoolofshots1
      @Schoolofshots1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the x100v really thinking about the xe4 with the 27mm pancake you thing it’s worth the switch?!

    • @jonasvandermeiren
      @jonasvandermeiren 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Schoolofshots1 With the 27mm lens, I don't think it's worth the switch. I switched because I got a bit tired of the same 23mm focal length. If you're planning on using a 35mm lens, 50 mm lens, or a few different lenses. It's worth the switch. Spec-wise, it's basically the same camera. It really depends on your own needs. All things aside, the x100v does have that more unique feeling to it.

    • @thomas.kovacik
      @thomas.kovacik  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      thanks! yeah it's cool that this camera helps break down that mental roadblock of wanting to only create "bangers" its been so fun letting go and just documenting. That xe4 looks fun, if I was solely a photographer I would forsure own either or both haha

    • @thomas.kovacik
      @thomas.kovacik  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love it! Such a great camera, so RAW of course will allow you to shoot in RAW. fine normal are for JPG, if you want to shoot both I recommend RAW + Fine, if you’re doing jpg only I would shoot in Fine, but I’m sure it would be hard to see the difference between fine vs normal

    • @thomas.kovacik
      @thomas.kovacik  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thank you! It depends, when I'm not filming I'll usually just carry it with the neck strap and throw it around in the car or keep it on my body. When I'm out filming or on a trip, I'll usually have a backpack I stuff it in. The lens hood is nice bc it protects the lens if you put a filter in it, it also adds some form of weather resistance, and it cuts out some light. The biggest thing that I dont think I mentioned, is that I can just throw the camera in a bag and for the most part the lens will be protected. The provided lens cap from Fuji would fall off and now with this I dont use a lens cap and I havent had issues

    I really like your videos, I just bought a Ricoh gr3, but I really like Fuji's retro look and the film simulation in it. Because I'm not very good at post-production. So I would like to ask if I get an x100v for £1350 is it worth it? The recent British second-hand cameras are very expensive. For example, Fuji x100f can be sold for £950. Nikon zfc can be sold for £900.
    I currently have a Canon 6d, but don't use it very often. I wish there was a very small and inspiring machine like you said.

    I don’t think you touched on this in your settings video (might have missed it), but since you shoot exclusively RAW, what do you set your Dynamic Range to (100%, 200%, 400%). Curious because you leave you ISO on auto and the different DR settings have a different minimum ISO

    Lightroom kinda makes fuji colors moot. LR film sims fall short of their fuji actuals. Plus if you shoot high iso, LR can’t interpret the fuji sensor array as well, causing the odd worming fx.
    Fujifilm’s strength is in it lack of post work needed other than dodge and burn. My workflow If I need RAW adjustments is to use fuji x raw to adjust WB, lift shadows or exposure, save a jpg, then use LR on the jpg to dodge/burn faces. This keeps the orig fuji colors, fuji organic sensor noise, and keeps my post work down
