After spending 6 years in Pittsburgh and never being able to tell the difference between collar, color, and caller in local speech, I moved to Boston where khaki, car key, and cocky all sound the same. You can't win!
Glad you like it. I'm the one that shot it. It would be great if people would get my permission to use my work instead of just taking it, but I guess that's just too much to ask.
Lived there 15 great years. Behind the language barrier lies hearts of steel and gold. Wonderful people, food, architecture, universities and sports teams. What a great visit through "DahnTahn".
Love it! Makes me really miss the Burgh. What a great city! Been in Hampton Roads for 11 years & it does not hold a candle to Pittsburgh! GO STEELERS & PENS!!!!!
Washington DC here ... transplanted from Pittsburgh born and raised... my Burgh accent never left me in 23 years .... when I visit I still say I'm going "home" for the weekend...
Instant Classic! Love it! I'm at the City-County building right now looking at our 2 championship trophies we won this year! Lord Stanley and Mr. Lombardi's trophy n@!! CITY OF CHAMPS!
To all of the 'ex-Pittsburghers': if you miss it so much, come on home!! I moved away for 20 yrs & thought I'd never return. Made the decision to move back several years ago to be closer to family! It's so nice to be among family & to re-connect with old friends! It may not have as much to offer as some other cities, but it's the people who make "da 'burgh" such a great place to live. Thanks DVE! Yinz are still rockin' after all these years!
Burgh born n raised ( Moon Township) ... now relocated to Washington DC for 30 years and to this day when I tell people here I'm going Home, I mean Pittsburgh.
I love this! Been living in SoCal fir 20 years and I love hearing the "Pixsburgh" accent. As a Pitt grad it's also nice to see the tour of the city and be reminded of the freest institutions like The Original, Permanti's, and of course the neighborhood where I grew up. Great Video Guys Go Stillers!!!
Hey, that's my photo of the Egg's N'at!!!! I shot it for a restaurant review of the place for the City Paper, probably like 2 years ago! No worries about the reproduction of the image, though, folks, I gladly give my permission to reprint it in this genius tribute to the Pittsburgh dialect!
Yep. They do concerts @ certain places, on holidays & sometimes even @ local bars. Ashamed to say I've never personally seen them but know alot of folks who did & are die hard fans!
I've been in other cities where fellow Pittsburghers recognize where you are from instantly. I mean, it can get crazy. BTW: Heard this dude do this song LIVE last night. One less thing to do before I die.
Yinz guys that run the audio n'at at the Stillers games need to make this the "anthem" before every home game starts. Like yinz did wit tha Renegade song and the 4th quarter. This would sound killer with the crowd singin it before a game starts.
Mt. Washington is usually called Mt. Warshington. You know, like Mondee is the day you do the Warsh. You run the warsher. You warsh your car. Tuesdee, Wednesdee, Thursdee, Fridee and Saturdee, no warshee the clothesee

We were out to eat a few months ago and some guy eating by us was obviously from out of town. He wanted to know why everybody was calling him a jagoff and what it meant. His wife said that he was a horrible driver and she didn't think it was a complement.
I'm kinda amazed how much Pittsburghese I actually spoke til I moved away. Sure I get picked on a little. Who cares. If I'm not in the mood I just say Pepsi machine instead of pop machine. Just will never say soda. Strange thing is I never got the YINZ word. I bleed Pittsburghese, but never used YINZ as a word. To me it's you guys. Always love coming home to the Burgh.
@Castilda0311 funny.about Boston.I am from Pgh, so I get the dialect, and probably speak it..you don't have a dialect where you are from? Some places really do not seem to. It is curious about Pgh, why this dialect? There are various theories and studies have been made. Some attribute it to the Irish and people and places in Ireland speak and look like Pgh, other say it is because Pgh was so isolated from the rest of the country with it's moutains before mass transit...
You need to change the line about Liberty Avenue. The hookers and all the adult book stores have been gone for a while now. Bringing them up again is ke saying that Pittsburgh is still a smokey city.
haha i love how many people here are talking about how they used to live in the burgh. good for you for getting out, i mean you can only go to a pirates game or primantis so many times before you realize there's nothing to do here except drive your car everywhere and enjoy shitty weather

this is pretty much one of the greatest songs ever made. 5 stars!!
Glad you like it. I'm the one that shot it. It would be great if people would get my permission to use my work instead of just taking it, but I guess that's just too much to ask.

Yinz guys that run the audio n'at at the Stillers games need to make this the "anthem" before every home game starts. Like yinz did wit tha Renegade song and the 4th quarter. This would sound killer with the crowd singin it before a game starts.

@Johnsnyder666,
