Ac motor main jo capacitor laga hota hai wo motor ki direction + starting control karta hai . Agar capacitor ki wires ka connection change karein to direction reverse ho jaati hai . Aur jo unused wire thi wo coil ke mid / centre se tap tha for multiple speeds like in pedistal fan.

I think you sit too close to screen maybe. There should be like 2.5/3ft distance between eyes and screen.
