This was one ep I really struggled with. I'd like your opinion. Being such a prestige tournament as Sekai Taikai, would you choose a dojo where the student (Payne) used a move that hurts the opponent, also had to be warned for his second strike (on which he should've been (?) disqualified)? This fight was a presentation of how a dojo works, already being warned in a presentation, where you have to show the best of you (and your dojo) is nothing really great. I get it, it's for the future storyline, but still... if it was some random tournament, ok, but they clearly demanded much of research and observation. I felt like this decision wasn't good, only scripted, so they had to go with it...
well, taikai is presumed to be one of the best karate tournaments in the world so it would make sense that they're looking for fighters who would do whatever it takes to win...seeing violence as strength but also appreciating the light-heartedness of daniel and Johnnys dojo.
@Yo Momma I understand that, but still, it's such a prestige tournament. Sensei also read out what was on the magazine last time, it was all about putting heart into fighting etc. I somehow also can't imagine, Daniel wanting his students to participate in a more brutal tournament...
@@ireonna9597 (also posted this in my previous answer): I don't think Daniel would allow his students to participate in a violent tournament (especially when Sam is involved). I'll add a reply here...the whole meaning of daniel not being able to let his students fight was because he didn't want to get him hurt...that little montage at the end of ep 6 of daniels students was their way of saying "we can fight" which is a hint they gave in episode 1 when sam said "I can fight" so that was just daniel accepting that "cobra kai isn't a fight they can walk away from". and let's be real not all karate tournaments going to respect the meaning of karate....that's just how it is in the real world. It'd be great to see these actors maintain it if they have any aspirations for action choreography in future projects.
Interesting that in tournaments in Japan there is no bowing to the ref. Here in the States, we do bow to the ref as a sign of respect for their position of authority. Refs are usually higher ranking Dans so there is a respect shown for their rank as well.
At 1:20 they’re actually doing the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Poomsae Koryo which is interesting considering that Cobra Kai’s base martial art is really Tang Soo Do. It’s more common for Taekwondo practitioners to learn TSD forms than the other way around as TSD is what the first five Kwans taught before unifying under Kukkiwon Taekwondo.
I'm glad ur enjoying this show, I love it too, when your done do kickboxer 1 and 2, awesome movies, and yes the cast of cobra kai has gotten better amd grown up.
That kick is known in the US as a "question mark" kick because it looks like "?" The front kick is normally just to get the low block reaction to hit the open head or neck.

Cobra Kai was all TSD from the very beginning. Back in the 70s and 80s everything was labelled as Karate. Basically TSD is derived from Shotokan so it was not far fetched to call it korean Karate or simply Karate.
In America there are huge Karate Tournaments like Aka world cup or Naska were they let every Karate styles compete against each other. You should make a review about that. That is the real USA karate world.
yeah that's my one problem with the silver bullet, i've been winded so many times in karate and i know that being breathless goes away fast and is pretty easy to deal with
You seem to have missed the exchange of glances between referee and Silver. The show makes it clear that this referee was again paid off to favor Cobra Kai.
I grew up in competitive American Martial Arts having trained in Muay Thai, Isshin Ryu, Taekwondo, and BJJ. It was always stated to me growing up that in competition, you bow first to the Referee to signify that you respect them as a judge, and will honor any and all calls/decisions they make. You do this first, and then are allowed to place your focus 100% on your opponent before bowing and starting the match.
Fun fact, the kick Devon is doing is called a question mark kick in muay thai. Although the front kick part is usually the set up, they gave her the extra pad to kick which I guess sounds cool. But a very sneaky kick and if you turn your hip over right, you can get a lot of power.
Ichigeki Hissatsu is also mencioned in the game "The King of Fighter 98" is Ryo Sakazaki the user, is a single blow, if is a counter make a huge damage.

Awch You Forgot about Watermelon Kick at Eagle Fang Karate Dojo Warehouse. Huhuhu

In Costa Rica, with WKF rules tournament, we bow to ref first and then each other, and in the end, it's backwards. Perhaps since you probably use JKA rules (as you're Shotokan) you do it differently.
If the Cobra Kai students are fighting in a significantly different manner than before, than the reason I'd figure they went that way is to differentiate the styles of the main factions: Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang vs. Cobra Kai. Otherwise every major character in the show besides the adults would basically be fighting in the same style. It could perhaps also be a way to show an eagle-eyed viewer like yourself the influence that Silver and the new instructors are having in the absence of Kreese.
And the reason why Robby's actor is kind of like better than the other characters at karate is because he did karate when he was younger not like fully like you do but like he had lessons like you know most kids would when they're like 10-12 years old so he had more experience than the other actors
The way that Devon’s kicking the paddles was more taekwondo based. As a taekwondo practitioner’s pov your right for rotating the hips for power but using flexibility like she was, was more tkd based. I think they modified a lot for the training and fighting purposes because Terry’s actor was trained in taekwondo
Just to some advice if possible you should try to make the Cobra Kai sign when we are watching your videos a little smaller hard to watch the video when there's a big Cobra Kai snake right in front of the picture
Yeah, that illegal elbow to the knee from Payne would not only get him disqualified from the fight, it might even get him a permanent ban from ever competing again. An illegal technique, against an illegal target, performed with malicious intent well knowing it might seriously injure your opponent? Say goodbye to the tournament mats forever xD

I kind of thought you had a thing for Tori but it's good that you notice Sam's prowess also.
New one here mate and I love your stuff and break down on different styles,I`m the little white guy next to Frank Bruno in my photo lol,Love your channel mate 😁
they could not do 2 girls fights since myagi-do only have 1 female fighter sadly
I would love to see Yusuke san interact more with TKD or TSD , korean martial arts. Cuz, it's not changed for choreo. We actually have that kind of stuff In Poomsae 😃
He has a series for TKD in his channel I believe, it's very interesting
@@spiceyloafofbread365 I saw too. Need more ☺️
You need to calm down
@@jekyll2hyde822 Me ? ohh why?
I train in Shorinryu Matsumura Seito so yes Pinan Godan, Passai Dai, and Kusanku has the block.... Hikiden? Thanks for that I only know Silver's punch as being called a "Leapord Paw"
I need to learn karate
Mary Mouser’s marital arts has become so much better since the 1st session!
I don't think that kata at 7:19 is Seiunchin. Looks more like gekisai dai ichi or ni. Of course with no shiko dachi, which is normal for these shows.
Love the videos. I wish you would keep your reactions for more of the momentous Parts in your videos, such as reacting to seeing the Miyagi School being accepted into the tournament here.
7:24 is the Basic Kata of goju Ryu Not seienchin
The Kata or form they're doing looks like Koryo a Kukkiwon form.
Is true.
I'm still salty about the fight between eli and kenny; I only hope that in the next season eli is someone more relevant as in season 4 in this one he almost has no fights/wins/screen time, etc.
The story shows you that Cobra Kai changed Sensei (s), so it's only normal for the students to use different techniques...
Eagerly waiting for ep 9-10 reactions sensei
Did u not notice the ref was bought by silver
You’ve been bingeing sensei 😂
Love your vids love learning
Finally, Johnny apologized for what he did at the All-Valley. Furthermore, all of the students are finally receiving the full benefit of both styles are they were supposed to. They'll all be better fighters for them.
One thing not accurate about this episode, Portuguese food is good, we have the best sandwich in the world called francesinha. But if you're looking for something more healthy, we have good fish, sea food. We have more than 1000 ways to cook ”bacalhau" (cod). Johnny was wrong, if you have the opportunity try Portuguese food
That move Tory was doing looks a poomsae called Koryo.
Hey yo - Silver bribed by the Ref!!!!!
That pattern is from Koryo Poomsae of taekwondo the 1st blackbelt form.
I like to see how Animated he gets, when sam wins
Terry silver payed off the ref thats why the ref didnt disqualify payne and didnt give sam a point even tho she was inbounds
Not a Tang Soo Do twist. They were performing the Poomsae Koryo from Kukkiwon style Taekwondo, or at least a portion thereof.
That first move by Tori downward strike spear hand look like the in parts of
Heian godan
re watching this i couldnt believe i didnt hear it the first time 14:18 you were cheering for the enemy that hurts a bit considering i like you a lot
Dude you literally were taught and learned in private just to give it all away views it's special significant legacy and a privilege
I love your videos Sensei
they are practicing more and more taekwondo techinques now that the korean masters are there.
I was trying to identify one of the katas they were doing but didn't know what it was: Seienchin!
Did u guys know daniel larusso is older than terry silver?
By a few months. Ralph is blessed.
They were doing Koryo form from world Taekwondo… lot of Taekwondo I’m this season
sensei, is it just me or the video speed is a bit faster than normal? keep up the good work, greetings from Portugal :)
13:00 was that a joint lock?
0:40 is koryo from taekwondo
*silver actively paying ref*
Op "these things just happen"
If think maybe there is differences because their style isn't shotokan but something from korea adapted in USA.
