- In this video, I invite you to join me for an autumn walk around the ruins of Corfe Castle.
This 11th century castle has seen more than it's fair share of civil unrest and untimely deaths!
I also take a look at the quintessential village of Corfe Castle and the church of St. Edwards.

Hey everyone!
This video is a little shorter than my usual offer, but I hope you enjoy it all the same!
enjoyed it very much. love the history. 👍
Thanks Panaka! ❤
👏👏👏 Great shots, you went above and beyond to get up that hill 😮👍❤️
I did, and my hips been giving me jip ever since! 🥴😆
The fact that the walk is shorter than normal does not make it any less interesting, what a fairytale landscape, the ruins on the hill with a steam train that whistles, what a wonderfully beautiful country you have. 👍👍👍
Thank you! It certainly is a pretty part of the country. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Another beautiful site..wish I could see it..thank you!
Thanks, Mike. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I've been to the castle many times over the years, and not seen it from some of those viewpoints you filmed from! Well done. Nice narration, and good choice of music again. 👍
Thanks so much, PB! Much appreciated 🙂
They sure knew how to pick a location for their castles back then...what a beautiful ruin, and the church too. Thanks for showing us all this incredible history
Indeed! Corfe has some of the best views for miles! Thanks for watching again, David!
Wow, to have seen Corfe Castle in its full glory sitting there on top of the hill before they demolished it, I bet it looked incredible! Fab video 👏
I agree! Such a shame they chose to destroy it! Bet it's proper spooky at night 👻
Amazing views, I was friends with a guy that lived in keeper’s lodge to the lovely Kingston Lacy Estate, we had many a good look at the house prior to the National Trust reopening.. amazing history, almost lost to this truly horrible, modern world! I’m sure I’m living in the wrong era! 😊
You and me both! Places like these are sadly lost to the modern world. We have to keep them alive! Thanks for watching! 🙂
I Love castles and train whistle was nice to hear thanks Nic
Hello Nic. I love Corfe Castle (and the whole area, come to that). You didn't mention how the huge lumps of the walls came to be halfway down the bank. Apparently, one of the attacking forces crept up to the base of the wall and placed gunpowder underneath the stones. When it was detonated, big lumps of the fornication came crashing down to where they are today. Great story and well told.
That's a fantastic bit of additional information there, Lionel! It is a wonderful castle and area, I agree. Thank you!
I bet that castle was magnificent in its glory days ✨️ what a quant little village
It must have been quite the sight, towering over the village below it!
Super video Nic. You certainly get some great views from the top of the castle for sure!
Thanks kindly, Dave!
Small but perfectly formed. But that stepmother was all too wickedly cliched. Keep Walking Wyrdly. Bye!
