Imants works during the day and then sleeps rough in London at night.

- Imants is originally from Latvia, a country in the Baltic region of Northern Europe. But the night before we met, Imants sleept outside in a park near Central London.
Imants is in a way lucky. He has a job working construction and comes to the park to sleep at night. He has been saving money and hopes to have his own flat soon.
This time Imants has been sleeping rough for 6 months, but this is not his first time homeless in the United Kingdom. In the 4 years that he has lived in London almost half of them have been on the street. He says at one point he lost so much weight he looked like a skeleton.
I hope that by now Imants has raised the money he needed to get off the streets and that this will be his last time sleeping rough.

What a lovely, kind and sweet young man. It hurts my heart that homelessness is so cruel, knows no race boundary or nationality preference. It is the hard truth of the have-nots. All of the haves can be a have-not at some point. People seem to forget that. Thank you for sharing this warm soul with us.

Funny, isn't it? Our pampered class never seems to figure out that before people become The Homeless, they are ordinary people with regular jobs and lives. I think that's what scares the crap out of so many of our better off -- that realization, pushed way to the back of their minds, that most of us are a single job loss from losing everything. There is no safety net to catch us so we can get back on our feet.

If I had met him 10 years ago, I would think he’s gorgeous ❤. I pray he is safe, happy and successful now. He has a lovely smile and seems very genuine. It’s sad how people fall on such hard times.
It's not as hopeless in Britain, as I understand it, the way it is in the US. We simply don't have jobs for all who need them. The safety net is gone. And once you're out of money? How do you get a job when you have no home address, no phone, no clean clothes, no bus fare? That is when you learn the true nature of the American people (and it's not very pretty).
Wash by the river, walk and borrow a home adress.

Went to Spain where its warm .Went back to London because no work in Spain.
He's cute and sweet, he'll get a girlfriend. With a job that he is working hard at, he'll definitely get a place soon enough. Hopefully once he gets a home then he can start saving in that big bank account. I have a feeling his wishes will come true :)

@cdw... brother/sister the world is full of power structures/societys/civilizations/systems/governments that are all corrupt at the top, and it all rolls downhill. Its wickedness in high places. The one thing they all have in common is rich and poor. The rich always opress the poor also. I hope this helps you to be more empathetic to this mans plight. Peace!!!!!!!

I cannot understand that. If he is working, he is relating to many people. These people know him, they know he is a worker, he is honest, he is not on drugs. Couldn't he ask for or couldn't someone offer him a small place in the garage to spend the nights? Hasn't he any friend from Latvia then they can rent a place together? I always think something is missing in the Invisible People stories.

Maura People aren’t shit these days. The only hope for someone is if they have family. Anyone outside of your family doesn’t care about you and its a dog eat dog world. Everyone is all about himself/herself. Its sad but people without family are screwed.

They always lived with someone for a short time and then had a falling out i've noticed that a lot of the videos
I’ve noticed that many people are willing to let people stay with them for a FEW DAYS and that’s about it. Only a handful will allow them to stay weeks or more. So eventually they get kicked out by friends and family if they haven’t found stable housing in a “few days” sad but true. People are very unhelpful these days.

I image you being in a very comfortable place while judging those "annoying leeches" that go abroad to better their situation, working hard and being determineted to make something out of nothing. While you're quick to get all geopolitical about this video, you completely fail to consider this guy's background and what might have made a young european live in a park to save up and start a new life.
