My favorite engine channel, coming in clutch with another great video. Really warms my heart, I left Tennessee on the 8th and they don't have any V8 hot rods down here in Brazil. That is a mean bastard. You really nail the aesthetics on all your builds too, down to every nut and bolt. Your stuff allways looks as good as it runs and sounds. I can wait to see how quick some of your artwork runs. Maybe I'll get lucky and I could meet you one of these days. There's so much I need to learn from you. Someone has got to keep this stuff alive long into the future. I beed to put an engine together too. My first serious engine. I have a roller cam 351w, an LS1 with a siezed crank and a bare LQ4 6L block in my front yard. I can build one of those or I might buy something. I have thought about buying a used PSI 8.8L industrial engine. Anyway, can't wait for the next video, Im here for it.
Only modern engines that interest me is the Ford "Godzilla" 445ci unit. That's a damn good engine to build. Better than a LS. And I'm really a GM guy. But I'll give credit were credit due.
This small block sounds very very good but the people saying the LS is boring my LS3 495 horsepower crate with the camshaft this crate comes a very mild 219/228 duration all stock LS3 crank piston and rods stock LS3 heads on E85 made 520 horsepower at 6200rpm 495 foot pounds of torque at 5000rpm at the crank and it idles at 650-700rpm in gear or drive and pulls very strong to the 6700rpm redline this very nice small block I'm pretty sure has a aftermarket crank rods pistons and heads with a camshaft with most likely over 240 duration don't get me wrong it's a cool small block besides the block nothing inside is stock it's no stock GM 350 with stock internals and heads hard to beat the LS splayed 6 bolt mains caps are rock solid at keeping the crank extremely secure to the block with no crank flex at engine speeds 7200rpm+ stock try that with a stock 350 say GM target motor with just a camshaft and valve springs and a good 58cc head see how long it takes 7000+ rpm with stock pistons rods and crank over and over again and see how long it lasts don't misunderstand l am in no way bad mouthing this very nicely setup small block what so ever
I’m not saying LS engines aren’t great engines. They have all the advantages you mentioned. But I like the Gen 1 and 2 SBC for the old school simplicity, nostalgia, and cool factor. Carb and no computer. Parts cheap and plenty.
You got some awesome stuff brother , you ever think about making more videos of you assembling engines? Maybe even run em in some project of yours I think it would help your channel grow for sure. Good stuff.
I probably would if I had a camera operator. I'm usually alone. And the time it takes me to put one together would be a serious time involvement. Would be a 3 month long video. I need to learn editing and get a long play camera. Usually when I'm working on shit, people vanish. Might need them to pick up a big block Chevy block or something. Or push a vehicle with a spool in it up a hill and a sharp turn. Pretty difficult even with a 2600lb car.
It's pretty lumpy. Longer it runs the better it sounds. Rings must have seated. No blow-by, so it seems healthy. I'll experiment more once it's in the car. The Schoenfeld headers going on it in the vehicle are 1 7/8 in primary, 3 1/2 in collectors about 9 in long. Probably run a 18 in long collector extension in the vehicle. It'll make more power than these turbo headers. The big headers won't clear the dolly tho.
Definitely make a S-10 haul ass. I'll probably end up dropping it in a 95 S-10 Blazer I have sitting in my back yard. It's a gutted drag truck. Already set up.
I swapped a 454 into a 84 S-10 back in the mid 90s. That was a bitch. Had to fabricate the headers from 2 weld up kits. Took a section out of the firewall too and had to u-joint the steering rod to steering box. It was a beast tho, altho it was nose heavy as hell with a iron headed big block in it. Kinda funny to drive.
It's soggy down low. Just getting a little run time on it. Wants to be 4000-7000rpm. Has 200cc Brodix heads with a little clean up, 62cc chambers, ported Brodix intake, 2 inch HVH spacer, 1990s BG 850 DP Holley, 11-1 compression, Lunati 244/256@.050, 595/595 lift, 108 lobe separation roller cam. Comp lifters, RollMaster timing chain, 1.6 Harland Sharp & Lunati roller rockers, Crane stud girdles, Manley pushrods, Lunati valve springs, Ferrea valves, etc. It still ain't completely dialed in. Just got it running. Got to get it in the car and I'll be able to fine tune it better. Timing is locked out at 36 degrees with a Dyna Mod module and a DUI coil. Moroso wires. 1 7/8 primary, 3 1/2 collectors Schoenfeld headers going on it in the car. These turbo headers are for another project. 9.5 in 4500 stall, Manual T-400 and 4-56 gear on a spool. 28x10.5x15 slicks. Going in a 2600lb car. Pretty basic shit really. Started with a 1990 L-98 5.7 from a IROC Camaro. TPI originally. Changed everything but the block & crank.
Could use more timing, could use less. I just baselined it to get it running. Might need a different power valve in it too. Squirters are on the big side also. Probably need to drop a couple numbers there.
That's a ported Brodix single plane intake, ported Brodix heads, 11-1 compression, locked out HEI with a Dyna Mod, BG Sportsman series 850 Holley double pumper, Lunati roller cam and much more.
Nice looking and sounding mill. Great response and revs up fast. Nice work as always.
Thanks man
Sounds totally streetable
Could drive it everyday. I probably will. Wouldn't want to take it on a long trip tho.
I listened for the whole 10 minutes with my headphones.
Sounds awesome, thanks for sharing!!

Give me a Small block Chevy any day over the LS. Love the gold with the bare Aluminum look.
I'll always love the old school hotrod shit. Just don't make em like they used to. This engine will make a car haul serious ass.
I’ll take a SBC over LS any day!
Me too, LS engines bore me.
I’ll agree 100%

Og , muscle, they are awesome motors..
It plays a mean tune. Loud as hell next to it.
Sounds like you're getting her dialed in pretty good.😎👍
@@itseithergonnaworkoritaint7852 Believe it's about ready for use now. Gotta swap that water pump tho. Seems to be pretty healthy.
4500 stall & 4-56 gear gonna make it spin up.
@6:03/6:04= perfection was heard!
It can get pretty rude, but the neighborhood I live in is pretty upright. Seems to piss people off when I start my engines.
Deadly
That'll Work!
It should do something.

Id like to figure out how to film a marathon build and be able to fast forward the whole video. I'm gonna look into that.

You ever get your hands on a pair of the old school Pontiac sbc heads that Brodix made for the cup cars back in the day ?
I put a pair on a customer's engine years ago. I'm looking at a pair now with a matching Bowtie intake. Pretty good heads.
So.... give us a few stats. Camshaft sounds large but lazy. Is the idle turned way down? Compression? Heads? ...and the such.
