Today we attempt to breathe new life into our 1972 Chevelle Barn Find Project car. After years of neglect in the Pacific Northwest, this classic muscle car is ready to shed its weathered patina and reveal its true potential.
In today's video, join us as we embark on the first step of restoring our Malibu. We'll delve into the depths of the Chevelle's trunk, scouring the remnants of its past and assessing the condition of its floor, or lack thereof.
But the real fun begins under the hood as we unleash the power of the pressure washer on the engine bay. Watch as Trevor discovers the sheer satisfaction of wielding his new favorite tool!
Finally, it's time to tackle the exterior. With an abundance of elbow grease, we'll strive to erase years of neglect, revealing the true beauty hidden beneath the surface rust. I seize this opportunity to teach Trevor the power of the classic “Comet Wash”. We are not only washing the Chevelle, but using Brillo pads to scrub the paint down, to remove the surface rust, and stubborn dirt. Follow along to see what this long-lost, and forgotten car looks like after a little TLC.

Growing up in rural Oregon, I was always around Hot Rods & Race Cars. I imagine my early exposure to this culture ignited a spark of interest in cars, which remains my passion.

After a move back home to the PNW, I found myself no longer servicing German-made machines but now working with Italians. I spent nearly another ten years as a Ferrari Master Technician & Shop Foreman at a local Ferrari dealership.
🏆 Ferrari selected me as one of 12 technicians worldwide to compete in the "Ferrari Testa Rossa Awards" for four years consecutively. Finishing in 3rd place in 2016, & in 2019 I was able to place in 1st, winning the competition & earning the title of the "Top Ferrari Technician in the World!"
🚀 As my time with Ferrari came to an end, a new career path awaited me…. Aerospace. I am currently working at Blue Origin, helping to build & develop the BE-3PM and BE-3U rocket engines.

We had our work cut out for us with this one. I wasn't going to let Trevor off easy, allowing him to get to the most satisfying part of the job first. I made him work through cleaning the other areas of the car before we tackled the deep scrub down of the exterior. But the time and effort was worth it!

Wow the chevelle clean up nice !! Not a bad car to start with . Cars like yours are extinct here in the Midwest. You never find anything that unmolested or solid . I can't wait to watch this one thru completion .

It did! It's a shame that the rust is as bad as it is, but you hit the nail on the head.... Finding one this complete and unmolested is quite hard these days. I can justify dealing with the rust on this car, simply because it is so original and unmolested. Hopefully one day Trevor will be able to realize how lucky he is to find such an original car to start with.
