Being in the military, we not only have a duty to follow lawful orders but we also have the duty to not follow orders that are unsound or orders that would get numerous people or other service members killed. Do officers not have the same abilities? Not one officer decided to go above the call of duty and do what was RIGHT. That’s what disgusts me.

"The child is in a room, full of victims." That sentence infuriates me more than anything I have heard in a long time. You can even hear in the dispatchers voice that she cannot believe that no one is inside the building. She has to repeat the phrase "full of victims" to bring light to the fact that they need to make entry into the school.

What infuriates me is... citizens have been knowing about these active shooters entering our schools and killing our children for years. YEARS! Yet nobody is doing anything to stop shootings. If you ask me, all I see is a bunch of perpetrating, citizens, pretending to be angry and demanding answers. Well answer me this.... what have you done to protect the children? How have you helped to keep our children safe? I'll tell you what... NOTHING!!! just a bunch of complaining about what the police did or didn't do, pointing fingers and blaming everyone else. Not taking anything away from her actions, but she was already there and locked the door to keep the guy out. You're saying that's braver than the officers were would've had to bash their way through a door into a hail of gunfire. The two situations are almost polar opposites. I can completely understand the police not wanting to do that. That guy could stack the officers up in a doorway, they don't get in, and he's still alive and shooting.

@@Casf1914 She acted to save her own life and the lives of the kids in her class. She had no practical choice but to act as she did. That's not bravery. It's a lack of options. Bravery requires acting in a risky way when their are other, less risky options.
Now, I read a bit ago that the officers outside had ballistic shields. That changes things a bit (not entirely) because the first officer through the door could have a big frickin' impenetrable shield to block incoming rounds while they survey the room, pick him out, and move to engage him. This makes it more and more likely there was a genuine misunderstanding of what the situation had turned into and not mere cowardice.

The teacher could have easily frozen up and did nothing and her and all her children could have been killed. But she took action and put herself at risk to save the children. That takes bravery dude. I'm not suggesting there was no bravery involved in her actions, but it was also the smart and practical thing to do.
And if the officers were literally right outside the door, but the door was barricaded and the guy was stuck in the room. It certainly sounds like the situation had changed from an active shooter to a standoff with hostages. Should they have gone in? 20/20 hindsight says yes, but the decision to wait likely saved the lives of some of those officers and wouldn't necessarily save the life of even one child. "We Are Stronger"
A Poem by Steven F Gooden
We're never as strong, as we are until we have to be. Never Do as much, unless the need we see. Only give our best, when we fail at mediocrity. We Love rather than hate when we admit we're one humanity. We always give more, when compassion moves our heart with unbridled generosity. We Become more of our potential when we are made to see, that clearly our minds can believe in unfathomable possibilities, while seizing every opportunity, here in lies one's destiny. More than our scars, higher than our stars, for in our flaws are what defines our features, they're uniquely ours, as human creatures.
We can run faster than on our slowest day. Reason better, and thinking it through all the way, regardless which direction our emotions may sway. We can find our voice when speechless, our strong words with meekness and our Courage in weakness. Always patience not quickness. Silence for peace than loudness, quietness of fear, not hopeless, for time and effort are equally unbiased. We are more than the stories we're told, we're the one's we write, each page unfold. We are the sum of our Lies and truth, fantasy, fiction, faith, and myths, no matter how uncouth. These are what shape us, our lives lived is the proof. We can be more right than wrong. More just than judge. More godlike than unlike. Reflecting Sunlight in our darkest night.
Providing refuge. Never more alive until we die within and begin again. A Human Ark Divine in our human spark.
      by
      Steven Gooden

Those who only seek what love can give and do for them, do nothing for love and others and in such selfish pursuit, in turn rob themselves of love's best gift. Make this year the year you seek to sow love and not just reap it. Be love and not just think it. Do love and not just say it. Talk love and just don't fake it. Seek love and just don't chase it. Embrace it but don't enslave it, share it but don't dare boast in it. Enjoy it but don't abuse it. Free it and watch it come back. Invest in it and watch it pay back. Wash your life in it, light your darkness with it, eat your food with it conduct your business with it and above all else Serve God in it. For whatever love is and is not, it's all of, for and From Him. He is LOVE! "

The kid enter a classroom, make a kid call 911 and tell them that he is in. Possible hostage situation, any moves and maybe more will be dead. Though, they were slow but then again. In a shooting, you can’t make sudden decisions. That will put the gun at risk, more guns on target means faster the take down. We're all sitting here watching this horrifying video. Imagine being a young child inside that building, scared out of your mind, calling 911 for help but help doesn't come quickly. Those are the lucky kids who eventually made it to safety and got to go home to their parents and loved ones. That's awful enough. I can't even wrap my head around being a young child locked in the room with a dangerous lunatic...beyond terrified, calling 911 for help thinking the police would come and save them. But they didn't. They were too busy outside...listening to each bullet fired, each child and teacher picked off one by one. May all of the victims rest peacefully.

They just had an active-shooter training two months ago & looking at the documents you’ll find directions that say “first priority is to move in & confront the attacker” and “a SINGLE officer may need to respond until other forces can arrive” and “if one officer is shot, another officer is expected to go on responding solo.” Waiting for back-up was NEVER an option, and all their training went down the drain when it came time to save innocent lives.
