  • In this episode, Clint Cannon, discusses the importance of rail pressure and fuel atomization and how we increase airflow with compound turbos to allow for a cleaner burn that does not clog the DPF even running at 600+rwhp. Please comment below with any questions or topics you would like us to cover in future episodes.

I am a retired mechanic ASE Master Tech, CA Smog License for over 35 years. I am thinking about buying a new diesel 3/4-1 ton truck (most likely a Duramax). I really appreciate this channel and the information found here. I want to learn as much as possible about newer diesels and their emission systems and this channel has, and continues to be an excellent resource. What I believe based on my research is that these diesel emission controls are very similar to what gasoline engines went through in the mid 1980's through the late 90's. I believe in emission controls as they force better engine / fuel management design. The air we have to breathe is important, like it or not. The air is cleaner in many cities today vs what is was in the late 1960's and there are many times more vehicles. The emission controls work and this man understands that and even better understands how these systems are designed to work. Thank you!

The after treatment systems only work where it’s relatively warm. All of the def systems don’t work very well in the cold

EGR has no place on a diesel. we can deal with after the turbo, EGR reduces intake air density. EGR makes the burn richer, which produces more NOX. Get rid of EGR and free up the intake, make the heads flow better. Power, efficiency, and a cleaner burn. Stuff that air mass in and fuel it accordingly.

Will ats ever make this type of compound kit for 3rd gen 5.9 ? That exhaust piece is brilliant !

with great power comes great responsibility, im all about trying to decrease the smoke output of my truck. but its hard to find that balance of getting the power i need. and trying to keep a clean burning truck.

i will not run a dpf exhaust again. i just dont trust them. period but im looking hard for ways to decrease smoke straight at the engine, what about increasing rail pressure?

Adding CP3 to your CP4? I do not understand this…is it fluid or is it an additional part ? Is this even on the new 6.7 L, 2023 high output diesel motor?

with a twin set up do you have to change the exhaust manfold q.

Super charging is liner and a known quantity at all rpm with boost control valves and a cleanable DPF is the way to go to meet all the emissions EGR is ok for cooling intake temp but a good induction air cooler would be a lot better than reducing the oxygen levels in the intake let alone clogging the induction system

So if I'm getting this right the compound turbo is used more to stop excess soot then increase horse power?

cant get fuel mileage with a dpf period. its dump fuel to regen that where the fuel mile drops epa cant bs that

Sorry Daniel, but we’ve been doing it for years and have nearly 100k miles on some of our DPF intact trucks running 600-800hp. These trucks barely ever go into regens because the fuel is burnt so clean. With the added air flow of the large turbo and ability to run much higher line pressure sustainably with two fuel pumps at 50% duty cycle you’re not soot loading in the first place and therefore regen-ing less often. We know it’s possible and have proved it for years. You’re welcome to come to our facility and see for yourself!

Gordon Turner they are higher until they hit the def fluid where Nox is neutralized.

Our 2015 just got 17.8 mpg coming back from King of The Hammers earlier this month. No regens there and back, truck passively regens does not go into a hard regen. Our kits work far better than stock.
