'The RX5s look good on paper but fail to bring music to life'. 'These Regas don’t quite deliver the music with the enthusiasm we expect.' What's a Hifi (What Hi-fi?) didn't like them but what do they know?
I sometimes wonder if they have the same products, it’s certainly not an observation I’d make about them with the amplifiers I’ve tried. In terms of bringing music to life they have a quite outstanding quality to the midrange that make them sound far more expensive especially on vocals and wind instruments. Very natural and easy on the ear. To be fair they do shine most with a bit of volume in a good sized space, but I wouldn’t ever call them dull. Treble is how I like it from a soft dome, bass is powerful and weighty enough but tight and agile if well controlled. Above all it’s the cohesion they’ve managed to achieve that I appreciate most, that gives them that good sense of rhythm that is in Rega’s DNA
