    Just wanna say love your videos! Got my 96 short bed Chevy that has came along way since I got it. One day I’m looking to hopefully LS swap it. Currently redoing the whole front suspension on it. Anyways love the videos on all the OBS chevys.

    I’m torn between the 6.0 or 5.3 for my Ls swap ! Which is better in a 94 oBS as far performance sound and reliability

      With those 3 criteria, and all other things equal, both are reliable. Of course, if getting a used motor it all depends on how it was maintained and used. But, both are reliable motors. Sound…all depends on if they are stock or modified and the exhaust system build, but both will sound really good. Depends on what you like headers or stock manifolds, 2.25, 2.5, or 3” piping, welded or turbo style mufflers? The point being either one will sound really good. And performance…this is subjective. How will you use the truck? With equal mods, the 6.0 will make more Hp because it made more to begin with. The real question is how do you plan to use the truck? Drag racing, weekend toy, daily driver? With equal mods the 6.0 is going to use more fuel. I have a stock 5.3 w 5 speed and as a cruiser, it runs really good, is reliable and gets pretty good mpg. I’ve had a canned 5.3 and it ran great. It sounded so good I had my foot in it a lot do my mpg was not so great, but it was a weekend toy. Lastly is cost. Not sure what the market is like where you are, but, I can buy a damaged but running ‘00-03 Tahoe/suburban with a 5.3 for less $ than a 6.0 engine by itself. Economics comes into play here. I get engine, trans, wiring harness, fuse/relay box, starter, alternator, complete front drive accessories etc in a running vehicle for less $ than a 6.0 alone sitting on the floor of a guys garage floor that he says he was told ran when he got it. If absolute power is what you want, then consider a turbo for the 5.3 or pull the trigger on a 6.0.

    Just found your videos man. Haven’t had time to watch many but do you do your own wiring to use stock gauges? Got a buddy doing a 91 k1500 and can’t find a pre made harness thanks

    1988 c1500 How do I connect fuel pump on a LS swap with Standalone harness to LQ9s computer

    • @laurencevillegarage
      @laurencevillegarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What kind of harness do you have? Regardless, there should be a grey wire for your fuel pump that needs a home. You need a wiring diagram for your ‘88 to see where to tie in at. If I remember correctly, on a ‘88, there is a fuel pump relay mounted to the firewall over by the a/c condenser. But, do your research, try going to lt1swap.com lots of good info there.

      That’s the ‘95 Silverado…it will be a fun project. Would like to get the few items taken care of on the ‘91 and ‘98 first. The ‘95 will need some space to tear it down.

    It's just crazy to do a LS swap on a OBS truck, you can pickup a 99-06 truck so cheap, they already have a LS, and they are superior in every way

    • @laurencevillegarage
      @laurencevillegarage  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Why is it crazy? People have been doing engine swaps for the past 100+ years. I personally prefer the styling of the 88-98 style Chevy trucks AND the performance the LS engines offer. It is a matter of opinion that newer trucks are superior in every way. They cost more and the styling is not as clean as the OBS. Of course, that's my opinion. The '91 had a blown V6, the '95 has no drive-train (theft recovery) and I am fixing the 5.7 in the GMC....when it has more miles or gives me too much trouble, it will get a 6.0. I like to think I am keeping an older vehicle that may have been given up on a new lease on life. The newer trucks were damaged and dying a slow death, so....I kept parts from filling a landfill or junkyard to keep an older vehicle on the road. My OBS's don't need anything more than a yearly safety inspection and are a blank slate to make any way I choose. It's all part of hot-rodding. You should try it! Thanks for watching!

      @@laurencevillegarage I agree 100%. I am keeping my 2 square bodies forever. '85 w/350 and '87 w/454. Starting a 5.3 swap into my grandson's '96.
