  • Will Levis enters his second year after showing flashes in his rookie season. But he'll need to make a whole new first impression on new Titans Head Coach Brian Callahan. Is Levis ready to take the next step in his game and be the franchise quarterback that Callahan and his coaching staff can build around?
    In this video, we breakdown what Levis does well and where he'll need to improve to be the QB that Tennessee needs.
    Time stamps:
    0:00 - Intro
    2:09 - Brian Callahan’s new offense
    4:41 - Will Levis film study
    11:39 - The Mason Rudolph of it all
    13:36 - Conclusion

    This is a great vid. Week 1 will be a great indicator of Levis’ patience as Eberflus and the Bears 2-high defense is built around bending and not breaking, waiting on the opposition to slip up for them. Will he be able to consistently read out the field, play on time, and take what the D gives him all 60 minutes, or will he get frustrated and force something deep trying to make a play. It’s an intriguing matchup imo.

    • @huddahhuddah3315
      @huddahhuddah3315 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The patience of said defensive backfield is what bolsters an otherwise okay pass rush the Bears have. Montez Sweat is always a big time threat off the edge, but interior wise, they're easier to stop.
      If Levis can't get the ball out fast, he never will. He's also gonna have to be real damn good at Pre-snap reads. The intermediate level is going to be key against that D.

      @@huddahhuddah3315 I agree. As a bears fan I’m biased so I have to tell you our interior unit is great at run stopping,but you’re right they’re young and inexperienced pass rushers. But the Callahan offense does seem to be built to beat the bend don’t break O. Levis should do well. Again as a bears fan I’m personally hoping it takes at least a week or two for them to get it together 😂Would love to start 1-0

      @@Big.steppa.reese0 I think the Bears will start 1-0, but that's because the run game of the Bears will have a coming out party, and Caleb probably won't have to really do much. That o-line in the run game is going to shock some people this year.
      Away from the run game, Caleb has 2 wide receivers who can basically get open at will, and Rome Odunze who is a coveted prospect.
      Shane Waldron's scheme is a perfect fit with the personnel. I'm excited.

      @@huddahhuddah3315yeah, if the Bears can’t run the ball effectively then I think there is a great chance of the Titans winning. I’m a Titans fan, so I could also be a little bias, but our secondary is not going to be an easy first unit for Caleb Williams to go up against. But also our interior line is pretty good, especially if our second round pick, who is a run stuffing DT, plays well along side Jeffery Simmons. It’s an interesting matchup for sure. With a little bit of bias I’m gunna say it goes 24-20 Titans.

    There are some caveats to comparing the Bengals QB's last year to what Callahan might actually wants to do.
    1. Most of the quick passes were because Burrow just straight up couldn't move for the first 4 games of the year, they had to get it out quick because he couldn't do what he normally does and evade pressure
    2. Even when Burrow is healthy he gets the ball out of his hands incredibly quickly. Look at 2022 stats, Burrow just likes getting the ball out fast, partially because of the bad O-Line, but deep passes can also be quick passes
    3. A lot of the offense in Cincy is Zack Taylor, Callahan might run a very different offense.
    4. The Bengals did A LOT to help Browning out. They used more pre snap motion, and more of all the little things that help QB's with Browning than they did with Burrow.

      @bells4455 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Most of this knowledge will fly over peoples head. I think some valid points were made with bringing a spread offense, but as you said: Cincy needed to play quicker the last two years especially last year. Really excited to see how Callahan molds around this new team.

    I think the comforting thing with Levis is that most of his mistakes probably stem from the limited system he played in during his college years as well as the fact that he was a rookie that didn't get to start week 1, which further limited his experience. None of even his more egregious errors are things that I am not entirely confident could be ironed out and fixed quickly with less than a season of turnaround.

      The Colts and Jags have good things going on. It's hilarious how everyone is holding the 4-win disaster year against the Colts when they had a mummified Matt Ryan, two terrible coaches, a developmental LT (who has become a stud), and no pass rush outside of Buckner. The Jags WERE the Texans literally last year and also did not get worse despite injuries and bad luck.
      I don't think the Titans are doomed, but this is gonna be another rough year. Levis is a Minshew type QB who can get you some wins, but he's not the guy. Fortunately for them, with another 4 or 5 win season, they can pick near the top of the QB pile. Without Vrabel winning games they should be outmatched in, like the Dolphins game, the tank should continue unimpeded, and they should be in the top 5 next draft. From there? Titans could be as in it as anyone else, though I don't honestly have much faith in their front office.

    Tbf, i would have ignored burks on that play starting at 9:49. I mean you have Dhop who's been your bread and better waving that he's open, and as he's essentially the only "real" WR you have on the field last year so you throw it to him.
    Meanwhile Burks has had a bad case of the drops the last 2 year and hasn't really gotten open as often or performed as regularly and consistently as even NWI (who is probably the Titans current WR 4). All of this while also having the worry about the pressure that is inevitably about to hit you and may be less than a second away given the Titans oline last year.
    Essentially Levis trusted when Dhop waved he was open he'd get open or be able to make the play.

    Im a Lions fan but I respect the Titans letting the draft come to them, they spent a pick on Willis in the 3rd round and then went Levis in the second. I think too many teams overdraft QBs based out of desperation, what the titans are doing is rolling the dice on lower end draft capital on higher rated prospects and building a foundation at the same time with thier 1st round picks and FAs. Not sure why but I like this approach, I think it forces QB competition instead of handing the keys to some overdrafted guy and it won't set you back to far if you whiff on a 3rd rounder in Malik Willis and circle back for a QB with a 2nd rounder.

While I do believe Levis will take more short and intermediate targets (as he should), there will be more deep shots than the bengals offense of recent years. When I watched the play live, I was thinking Burks was going to be open deep the moment he went in motion. Burks has better top speed than stand still, so if he turned up, whoever guarding him would need help. They were not helping on Burks, so I swear when Levis went to Hopkins, I was thinking I bet Burks was wide open. If I knew this, then Levis has to know it. It should have been the one time he looked to Burks first.

      The problem with Burks is his inconsistency. You can't trust him to be healthy and if he is you can't trust him to catch the ball. Literally it was Hopkins or punt last season. With more weapons he should drastically improve.

    OK, if people thought Malik Willis was the best QB in the draft, he would not have been available in the third round. The people that do mock drafts decided he was the best in a horrible draft and they know amount of shit. And Mason Rudolph despite being in a much better QB draft was drafted like 10 spots sooner than Willis was in a terrible draft.
    Plus he had a TON more accolades coming out of OSU than Willis at Liberty. Who’s ever had would’ve exploded from saying Rudolph is going to be better than Willis is a football idiot. I don’t think it was a Faran conclusion that Willis would not be better, but to assume it, is just dumb.

    It also helps he won’t have a head coach that wants to run it up the middle forty times a game anymore. I loved Vrabel for the success he had here, but holy hell man he’s a terrible head coach for modern day football. His entire system was constantly being shat on by former players and it was disheartening as a fan.
