The ABSURDITY of Will Levis on film.

  • Will Levis has the most absurd film for a rookie quarterback I have ever studied. He has one of the strongest arms in the league already, possesses some veteran abilities, but when things go bad for him, they go REALLY bad. His ceiling is sky high, is floor is as low as possible, if he hits the Titans are going to the playoffs, if he misses he might never start again. What makes his film so insane? This week’s episode uses the coaches all 22 to analyze Tennessee Titans Quarterback Will Levis.

Will Levis is up there with Josh Allen, Jordan Love, Patrick Mahomes pure talent wise. That throw to Westbrook from 55 yards on the right hash to the far left corner of the end zone with 300 lb defender on him was a pass only 5 QBs in the history of the NFL could make. Talent won't be Levis' downfall, it's going to come down to the mental aspect and if he's willing to do the work in the film room.

Honestly, if you're looking to outdo CJ Stroud, Trevor Lawrence, and Anthony Richardson (if he comes anywhere close to his ceiling), a QB who's Brett Favre AT BEST is not gonna cut it. Favre's career totals are impressive, but his efficiency wasn't. When his guys weren't winning their routes, his blind chucking quickly went from heroic to hair pulling. A second-rounder without the benefit of a Super Bowl ring is going to have too short of a leash to stick around playing like a gunslinger.
We'll see how the quick game develops for him. If he grows into that facet of his game, as the focus seems to be, I still don't think he'll be a Titan five years from now, but he'll probably stick as a backup/bridge QB.

Interesting. Levis was a rookie and basically played half a season with the worst OL in the league and is he supposed to be Tom Brady in his prime? All rookies, even guys named Manning miss open guys and throw into coverage especially when they are under constant pressure. Give him better weapons and an OL and it is a total different story along with experience and oh, he might have all those this year.

Crazy enough this was the game when the titans played the steelers at steelers home , that gave me the exact "He's the guy moment"!
Being a rookie to come into steelers stadium where they are known to be stout on passing defense.. Carves them up going for 250 yards , having a pass completion rate of barely reaching 60% ... despite the one INT that could have won them the game but ended in defeat, could have made or break that Loss.

I never really even heard of Levis until his draft night so I had to go watch sone of his college throws during that first round. I couldn’t believe he was taken so late, I think in the second round. But when I first watched him he reminded me of Philip Rivers with a stronger arm and more of a classic throwing style - Philip was more side-armed. But I’m convinced the Titans got the steal of that draft. If you simply look at arm ability and potential you could argue Will maybe should’ve gone one. You don’t see guys that often with that good of an arm.

    • @stuffylamb3420

    • @HansHinnershitz
      @HansHinnershitz 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I think he fell because of his accuracy issues in college, and his final year was a step back from the year prior to that. The real issue, though, was that his oline and pass catchers were atrocious. It's easy to break your fundamentals when you have dlinemen in your face every play and are often playing from behind. Unfortunately, going to the Titans has put him in a similar situation.
It's interesting because Mahomes was knocked for a lot of similar things in college, but the Chiefs were still able to identify the talent.
I think if a team like the Eagles had a bad year in 2022, we could have seen Levis drafted by a team with all the weapons and protection to let his skills shine.

Cannon arms come and go. But its also just as rare to get a guy with a high level of anticipation paired with the arm. Which makes sense why Levis went in the second round. Now the Titans are going to try upgrade everything else on the offense to see if Levis is worth a 2nd contract.

I had Will Levis as my #2 qb prospect (really 3 but i had Bryce and Richardson tied for #1, yes I had CJ #4 💀). Levis should have gone in the first round. I had him going to the Titans at 11, they stole him at 34 which is absolutely insane. Hope he does well. He's what I imagined Malik Willis would have been as a passer if he got time to sit and develop. But Levis came out the door swinging! If he continues to show optimistic promise and development I can imagine a Matthew Stafford type of careet for him. He went to the EXACT team I wanted him to go to as well. Same with Richardson, I wanted him on the colts, he got on the colts. CJ also went to the best team for him (even though I expected him to end up in Carolina). Bryce I really thought was gonna be a Texan. Hopefully he doesn't get destroyed again next year. I was very optimistic about this particular QB class because a lot of these guys had just something about them. Bryce had the intangibles (it still showed on tape, his personel failed him). CJ showed willingness to grow, and some of the most insane accuracy I've seen a prospect have (though i did question his ability to make decisions without having great receiving talent), Richardson is an absolute freak of nature and somehow even more willingness to improve and humble himself than any prospect I've seen. Levis has an insane arm, so much zip, really has an elite arm. His willingness to let it rip is insane. His patience is good too. Once he tones down that recklessness a tad and shows more willingness to check down on short yardage he'll be set.

Cant wait to see Will Levis's development in Year 2 under Brian Callahan, an improved O-Line with Latham and Cushenberry and new WR weapons in Ridley and Boyd.
Levis is a high risk/reward big arm QBs like Favre, Stafford and Allen will throw plenty of turnover worthy plays as he had a habit of locking on and force alot of throws to D-Hop in his Rookie year.
But if Levis can improve on this by developing his post snap processing to spread the ball around to 2nd and 3rd reads or take checkdowns to avoid sacks.
Levis will need learn when to take the deep shot and where to attack underneath to intermediate routes against zone defenses, he will turn into a great QB.

He is now going into the offseason/season knowing he is the #1 QB. With a dramatically improved receiving core. An offensive minded head coach with a proven track record of working with some of the top qb’s in the league. Tannehill is overhated by everyone. He was MVP calibre for his first two seasons in Tennessee (statistically better than Mahomes in many categories) then dragged the 32nd ranked defense to a 1-seed with no Henry, no WR1, and the 28th ranked O-line. There is no reason in hell one playoff game (that was a scheming problem) should taint his legacy here. He was the real deal; it was simply his time to go and that is okay.

To be fair about the high percentage of screen and play action play calling, I think that was less about Levis and more about their terrible o line and receiving core last year. O line should be decently improved, and they now have a great group of receivers, so this year will be a much easier evaluation of his ability

Winston has thrown for 5,000 1-3 times and had a turnover problem that he heavily criticized for
While Brett Favre was the all time leader in interceptions when he finally retired. He also had no Superbowl MVP.
For some reason Winston's turnover problem is overanalyzed and overcriticized while Brett being the All Time leader in interceptions and being known for throwing game losing interceptions is underanalyzed and undercriticized

I would love to see you break stuff like that down, even in a long form podcast interview with the man or something.

People need to familiarize themselves with how easy it is to make an AI fake video including the audio portion. You need just a little bit of them speaking in order to make them say whatever you want.
At this point you need a forensic expert to prove whether any video is authentic or not. Just fyi.
