I have been wanting to do some smashed cans to decoupage. Thank you so much for the video. Most that I have seen online said that they used a vice but I don’t have one. Happy to know I can use pliers and a hammer. Thank you again! I really enjoyed your video! ❤️
Thank you so much, Shari! I've seen some people use a vice too and it looks so much easier but I don't have one either and the hammer and pliers work fine. Thank you for sharing some of your time with me. 💖
They are all very pretty, all the napkins are great choices. The only thing I would do differently is use a neutral color wood bead. Wishing you best on your channel.
Thank you so much Joyce for sharing some of your time with me! Welcome to my channel and thank you for the well wishes. I like a neutral wood bead as well. 💖
Omg! I made a birdhouse with the same napkin along with making embellishing other birdhouses with different napkins. Everyone wanted the one with that napkin.
Thank you so much Nadia! These were very beautiful napkins that I used especially the one with the birds. I also did some coasters in the bird napkins that I have coming up in a future video and they turned out gorgeous! I bet your birdhouse turned out beautiful. 💖
Thank you so much Cary for your lovely comment and for sharing some of your time with me. I'm happy to hear you were able to easily understand my instructions. I hope to see you again. 💕
I love how you goof up and its ok...❤ I tend to be hard on myself with crafting when it's not going how I invision or compare to others. So, thank you for that! I enjoyed all 3, but my favorite was the last; the 2 birds. And I think as far as bottom trim goes, just look at it...hold some trims up an decide. I liked how you used your old purse...it was a great video. I saved it. I've got an assortment of cans I just smashed to make some pockets. My first time. 😄
Thank you so much for watching my video Grammy and for your lovely comment! Making mistakes is part of the creative process sometimes and sometimes a mistake can turn out to be a better outcome than the original idea. The only thing that I don't like about making some mistakes is all of the extra time it takes to fix it. Enjoy making your smashed cans! Let me know how they turned out. Thank you so much for sharing some of your time with me! 🤗
I love all the cans you made but especially the 1st one. Lavender and purple are my colors for sure. My bedroom is done up in those colors. Anyway I love the trim, it's so smart to repurpose things and the purple ruffle from your handbag couldn't have been a better choice. It compliments the napkin so well. I just recently had a big bag of old clothes I was getting rid of. Then last minute I ran to my shed and pulled out every one and I took off buttons lace, I had jeans and I tore off pockets but what treasures 4 crafts. I also love the handle you made with the beads, really they're all beautiful. Thank you for showing your projects. Very much appreciated.
Thank you so much Doris for your comment and for sharing some of your time with me. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed my smashed can diys. I also love lavender and purple. I agree, old clothes, handbags and even parts of old shoes can be treasures for crafting projects. I thought of the ruffle on my old handbag at the last minute and now I'm starting to look at clothes the same way you are. Stay tuned for some more upcoming smashed can videos in the new 2 or 3 weeks. Welcome to my channel. See you next time. 💖

@@OakWellHome Hi again. Thank you for welcoming me into your channel. I'm wondering if you can do a little bit more on the tin can flour pockets, because I'm having difficulty with mine. Do you cut both ends off? Or do you leave the bottom on? I've kept the bottom on mine, and I can't get it right. I hope this is not a stupid question. Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi...I do cut both ends off the cans. I think it may show that in the beginning of my various Smashed Can videos and no, your question is not stupid. It would probably work with only one end cut off if you had a vice grip but I cut both ends off so I can bend it myself and then use pliers to help close it closer together. I hope this helps. Take a look at my other smashed can videos to see if they also help. Thank you again. 💖
@@OakWellHome thank you for taking the time to help me through this project. I also re-watched your video and see very briefly you did cut the bottom off. I was completely missing that step. I'm going to give it another try. Thank you so much. I hope you have a beautiful weekend.

Great idea to use a cork on your handle. I would use neutral wooden beads. I liked all the napkins choices, the last one, the birds was my favorite! Thank you for your demonstrations!
Thank you Lorraine! Yes, the cork came in handy. I think neutral wooden beads would also look nice. The birds was my favorite as well. I am a first-time tin can crafter question, have you ever painted the can inside just asking because I may use the can for storage hang in my bathroom to place combs etc. And hang in my kitchen to store wooden spoons, kitchen scissors. Like any idea that includes my recycling I am living very thrifty so your ideas with cans got my interest. Jane from Ct
Thank you Jane for your question. Yes, I have painted the cans inside sometimes. You will want to seal your cans with a sealer to prevent rusting because you're putting them in rooms with moisture. I think it's great that you are living thrifty and it's something we should all practice more. I bet your recycled cans are going to turn out beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing some of your time with me! I have some other tin can videos if you are interested in watching them. 💖
I'm sorry if this is asked & covered but I am watching with captions but do you ever get it perfectly together on the bottom after hammering? I hammer as much as I can but there is still a slight gap. Thanks!
Hi Q. Some will close completely but some have a little gap and if there is a gap, I just bring my napkin over it and you can't see the gap anymore. You can also use lace, twine, fringe or whatever you have and if you don't want anything on the bottom, the napkin will cover it. Thank you for your question. Welcome to my channel. 💖
Thank you Joie! Some like the ruffle and some don't. Everyone's style is different which makes for a more creative world. I like to give viewers some different options so they can create the ones that they like. 💖
I have been making these for a few months, but I am using the big cans a friend saves me from the school cafeteria. I need to find smaller cans, but lately, they all have the rounded edges. I also stuff mine with Moss, and foam (I see now unnecessory)! Your way is much less time consuming, and brings the cost of supplies down! They are very pretty. May I ask what price you sell them for?
Thank you so much for your comment, Gloria! Welcome to my channel! When I want to make them, I have to look at the cans at the grocery store to make sure they have the lip on the bottom. lol I learned the hard way by painting a whole bunch of cans with the rounded lip and I haven't been able to find a can opener that opens the rounded lip. The rounded bottom cans are annoying. lol Yes, I agree not stuffing anything in the bottom keeps the cost down but some florals may need the floral foam but I try not to use it, if I don't have to. I had them priced at $18 Canadian dollars. Stay tuned for new smashed cans coming up in this weeks video so don't forget to click the notification bell so TH-cam notifies you when I post a video. Thank you for sharing some of your time with me.💖
I just found your channel. These are so beautiful. I can’t wait to try one of my own. You said that you resell these. How much do you price them? This size and the larger cans, if you sell those as well. Thank you so much! I subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching more videos.
Thank you so much Lisa! You will have fun making these! I price them between $12 and $22 depending on the design and the floral I put inside. I've been looking at ideas on these pocket cans and I saw a lady who put coffee filters inside, some soil, then succulents 😃 I'm gonna try that one myself
@@grammywhammy4595 I've also saw the coffee filter idea. I think it helps keep the moisture in the soil. I want to try this with some of my plants that I have to repot. Thank you for suggesting this idea. 🤗
Thank you Linda for your comment. Some people like the beads and some people don't. It's all personal preference and it gives those who like beads ideas on how they can embellish their smashed cans. Thank you for sharing some of your time with me. 💖
I have a table vice got it for about 25 Euros it would be about the same in CA dollars 25 give or take 5 but it would be best to get one that is attaching to the table you will see it helps you crush cans with ease! EDIT : please don't use a drill in your hands like that you will hurt yourself and it tells other that is a safe thing to do when in fact it is not please use a vice for the drilling of anything even a cork! Thank you!
Thank you Ivan for your comment. Yes a vice grip would make it a lot easier to crush the cans and also to drill the cork but unfortunately I don't always have the funds to get every tool I would like to have and there are a lot of tools I would like. If you have been watching my videos for a while then you know that I am an advocate of practicing safety when using tools and I talk about it in my videos. Tools are to be respected for sure. We will have to agree to disagree about me drilling the cork being unsafe. TH-cam videos are sped up a lot of the times for video time purposes and I can assure you I was going slow when drilling the cork and being very mindful and also because cork is soft, I knew it would be ok. I agree though, that putting the cork in a vice grip would be better if I had one. Thank you for your comment and for sharing some of your time with me. 💖
Thank you for your question and for watching my video, Jacqueline. I drilled the holes. I do have another couple of smashed can videos and I believe I show you how I drilled the holes in those cans. 💖

I have other smashed can videos that you may like as well. Thank you for subscribing to my channel. Welcome friend! I appreciate your comment and you being here. 💖

D these be used with real plants outside?
I haven't tried using them with real plants outside but I think you can. Thank you for watching! 💖
I think the beads make it look kiddish.. otherwise they are adoreable
Thank you!
I am sub and I did like your video!
Thank you Ivan! I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and watching my videos. Welcome to my channel. 💖

Wire on ruffled can is too thin. I like bailing wire.
Thank you Terri. Sometimes I like to use what I have especially for smashed cans. I think I have used galvanized wire on some. 💖
No ruffle on bottom. Takes away from simple beauty
Thank you Jayne for your comment. 💖
How do you make the Handle holes
Thank you for your question and for watching my video, Jacqueline. I drilled the holes. I do have another couple of smashed can videos and I believe I show you how I drilled the holes in those cans. 💖
Beautiful
Thank you Kathy! 💖
