Hi, Mary: A non-toxic way to get rid of the glue from labels off cans and glass is 1tablespoon coconut oil mixed with 1 tablespoon Baking soda. It makes a paste that you spread onto the glued areas after you take off the labels from being soked. Let the paste sit for @10 minutes then wash off with hot soapy water. It's really amazing@
Most cans with paper labels are only glued at the seam. You tear off almost all the label, dry, then use any cheap oily substance to remove the glued bit.
Cool! ❤ 🙂
Another thing to do is a) a paper towel with some oil on (just leave it on the can) or b) peanutbutter.
❤
Thanks
For me, this is the best video that is truly inspiring and makes me recycle tin cans.
My favorite videos when someone uses actual trash to turn it into a treasure
Mary, you are an award winning TH-camr! God has certainly bestowed His gift of creativity upon you❤❤❤
I second that. So creative. LOVE her channel 💕
Amen 🙏
❤
Totalmente Mary es asombrosamente Talentosa y Creativa. Always wanted to write Her in Spanish, so She knows that we follow her channel in Rio Grande Valley in the State of Texas, very very close to the Border with México. Gracias Mary😊
Mary! Love it all! My bestie bought me a girls getaway for Christmas and we are coming to the cabin! We are sooooo excited!
Oh how wonderful!!! I’ve thought to do this too!
What a Blessing ❤
Enjoy!
That sounds wonderful. Then you will meet Mary and you can go to her booth and all the Amish places that Mary shows us, to buy some gorgeous goodies. Such a treat. 😍
My husband took me there for Valentine's Day! The cottage is beautiful and all the lovely touches made it extra special! Enjoy!❤
I’m going this weekend!! Sparrow’s Nest here I come!
I love the water can, the rusty can with lid, bird house. Everything is wonderful.
Anti-mosquito candles in cat food cans and any tin cans really would be fab❤
The daisy lids for mason jars fit on tuna tins ). We fill them with baking soda and essential oil for air purifier
Great job! To remove the glue..mix a little baking soda with some vegetable oil to make a paste. Put it on the glue and let it sit for a minute or two and clean off with a paper towel..then wash off the oil. It works great. I use it all the time!
Wow great thanks
I can tell ya, this works really well. Just leave sitting long enough.
Yup. I use different combinations of peanutbutter, baking soda, dawn degreaser (dish soap), and oil... whatever is on hand.
For years I had saved various sizes & shapes of tin cans to share with my granddaughters the ways of repurposing common items. In these days, they need to know there are many useful items from what is usually thrown away. Who knows, we might be is the situation soon to not have a choice, but to recycle & repurpose as our grandmothers did.
When I was a young woman and just starting out, I used coffee cans and covered them with contact paper for canisters , they were adorable!
I love all of your can ideas, they brought back a lot of memories!
how cute! If only companies would go back to tin and glass containers. I hate plastic.
@@lorrem2539I agree. As much as we’re paying for the contents of the container, we should at least get a useable container, not something that will melt in the dishwasher. If we can turn it into something to sell at least it would help to pay for the container. What do you all think? ♥️🙏🏻
Ton and glass are so evocative of simpler times. Plastic is an eye sore.
Mary, your videos NEVER FAIL TO AMAZE ME!!! Your ambition, kindness, creativity, and the list goes on……….. GIRL, YOUR AMAZING 🌿🌸🍃🫙🛢️🔨⚙️🪤🧺🖼️🪑✂️📐📏✏️📦📫🩷💜🩵🩷
Mary
I have watched hundreds of DIY TH-camrs, I count you in the top 10 of creative people, love the bird house, ingenius!🎉
*@heatherwarner489 who are some of your favs, I would love to expand DIY knowledge. Thank you!* 🙂
This is the best tin can recycle I've ever seen. You can't even tell the original product is a ton can. That pitcher with the flower decoupage and a drawer handle(?) genius...
It’s amazing what you can do with a tin can, all the while helping the environment by recycling! I think the pockets were my favorite. ❤️
When you make a bird house from metal it needs a hole or holes in the back for cross ventilation because metal gets hot.
❤ Dear Mary, I SO enjoy seeing you in every video! I love what you do, but most of all I love you as a precious person, a true woman of God… Warm hugs for you…❤ Almighty God bless you deeply this Good Friday and Easter Sunday! Jesus died, but rose again…Hallelujah!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hallelujah
Someday when I'm all grown up I want to be as creative as you! Every one of your videos amazes me. Thanks for sharing with us.
My dear granddaughter in law who has three little children and expecting her fourth has had to rest a lot during this pregnancy. So she has been mamm crocheting a lot of cute little animals similar to these. She has made the cutest bumble bee, and many others. I bet people will really love these little crochet animals that you will be selling. They are so fun!
I have never seen such amazing creations with tin cans! Each was better than the one before. I loved them all!!
I've been saving plastic lids and found the lids on the cardboard raisin boxes fit the peaches cans perfectly. So feel free to mix and match and then you can actually use these to store food. 💖🌞🌵😷
You can use a heat gun or blow dryer to remove the glue. I have tons of cans half of which the children i tutor will be making bird feeders and the rest you’ve given me new ideas for. I have made the tin can pockets but i used a pair of pliers and or hammer, to close the end. Try that.
I love your little colorful hammer. It’s so you, dainty and feminine, yet productive.
Everything you make Mary is beautiful. 😍
I went through a phase of decopaging empty cans.
The other day I went to a big thrift shop here in Germany.
Sometimes they have a big bin at the front door with free things in it.
I pick up things to up cycle.
My partner has zero creativity and cannot fathom why I pick up what I do.
I am also creative and can visualise what I can do with something.
I picked up a can that had beautiful crochet around the tin, but it had an empty area at the top.
The tin was not spray painted, so that is my next project. Just spray the tin and put back the crochet bands on. Then I will use my tin to put paint brushes in.
Your candles in tins look lovely.
The bird house is darling. 👋💖
Mary I know I keep saying this but you are amazing, you can truly make something beautiful out of nothing. I love them all.
Dont forget to put some holes in the back of the bird house the cans get hot in summer and they need airflow...love the utensil caddy great idea...I seen were you can take a rubber mallet and hammer the tin can down to make the flat ones...you can put some moss in them to help fill them then stick your greenery in there....I covered a can with material and covered it with mod podge and put twine to hang it and put hens and chickens in it ...cute gave it to a friend for out side..
I decorated and sold similar cans back in the late 80s -early 90s. Mine were decorated more for kids though. My mom worked in a school cafeteria and could get tons of cans for me. I have one that's decorated for Easter on my coffee table with a flower arrangement in it right now.
Mary, I totally enjoyed every second of this awesome video! Without doubt God gifted you with an overflow of wonderful creative talent, and you are putting all of it to the best use. You are the most inspiring and uplifting you tuber I've ever seen! Your love of Jesus shines and glorifies Him in everything you say and do, Mary. Happy Easter to you and your wonderful family! You are THE best! Linda
On the porch pockets - I use a 1x2 piece of wood cut to fit in the pinched bottom and brad nail the bottom. Then I hot glue flower foam to the wood and add fake flowers.
I just love these trash to treasure projects.
I have used tin cans for storage of nails screws, etc. and small tools as well, pliers, screwdriver, etc. I love the creativity you have and I am amazed by the decals, cutouts, molds, etc. that you possess and use. Congrats!!! You do need to speak with a changed lilt or tone occasionally and use fewer hand gestures. You might work on these attributes some; however, you and your husband have created a wonderful legacy and your Etsy Shop and your brand, White Cottage Company are wonderful!!!
Your creativity just doesn’t stop!!!! What a gift from the Lord!!!!
I run an upcycled home decor business and have always wanted to use the tin cans that I stockpile but have a hard time coming up with ideas. This video was so helpful in getting my creative juices flowing!
Mary, if you use a hairdryer to warm up the glue it should peel off the can easily, just like it will on glass. I hope it helps you. I have to say, I love all of your crafts, I love the aprons that I purchased, wooden bunnies and crosses. I’ve had eleven back surgeries and would to be able to keep a schedule like yours, thank you so much for the inspiration, I can’t wait to see what is next!♥️🙏🏻
Mary, you're so crafty! I enjoyed all the projects. Please let us know if you had a wren move into the bird house. They are the cutest little birds. My sister had one make a nest in an old garden hat she hung on her porch. She left it alone and bought a new hat that year. We watched that little wren build up her nest and raise her babies. So fun!
I can always count on you to do something I love and usually with something I have thought looked useful or nice to remake somehow but rarely do. Inspired.
So inspiring like always, God gave you so much talents and thank you for sharing them with us, Anick de Candiac, Québec 💕🙏
What great ideas you’ve done with cans. I loved them all. The watering can was clever, liking handle you put on it. The bird house was a genius idea n hoping you’ll get your wren.
♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟
You are so darling. That last bit had me smiling ear to ear.
I appreciate how you use reusable materials to craft with. Instead of paper plate, paoer towels, baby wipes etc. Less waste and better for the environment, too ❤ 🙂
Seriously Mary,,what a visionary you are. What a talent you have. I see cans and you see masterpieces. Just beautiful.❤
Love all you do!!! Your videos are warm and informative. The tiny knitted animals are so cute. you may have already thought about the tiny eyes and made sure they are baby safe. If not even tiny knitted eyes would be cute.
This was just about as literal as one could get regarding using 'trash' to turn it into 'treasure' and indeed you did, so cute ☺!
Omgosh! The hardware ideas on the pitcher and planter are amazing. So cute! And the idea with the marker for an enamel look. Just sweet. ♡
So brilliant. Your creativity is boundless just like your energy. Thank you for these smart ideas that are so accessible to all of us.
👏👏👏 This is very creative, showcasing innovative ways to turn ordinary tin cans into beautiful and functional items through upcycling.
Mary I look forward to see your video every Wednesday your a god sent. God bless u.keep on doing it.u help me so much thank u martina from ireland
Yay! The day just got really good ;-) Happy Easter!
WOW LOVE THESE TIN CAN IDEAS!!! Definitely I’m going to try some of them❤
I just admire your patience and creativity!!! Each one is a "one of a kind".... may you have a Blessed Easter....❤😊
I have 4 well fed cats and have been trying to search youtube for ideas on how to re-purpose their food cans forever... I never get any good search results using this site! I'm thankful, that finally, this related video was recommended to me. I hope it leads me to more ideas.. so far on my own i only thought to make a rain chain and planters.. i really want to morph them though.. i like all of your ideas. That watering can was a great one.
Great ideas, craftmanship and Etsy products! FYI, to keep the bottom of the metal tin can closed, I recommend using a 'rivet gun'. Hoping you and your family have a blessed Easter. Leanne
I really enjoy your videos and ingenuity. They are so peaceful, engaging and inspiring. Thank you for sharing Mary! Have a blessed Easter!
So that is why I feel guilty throwing away tin cans! I knew they had a purpose😁 As always love hearing and watching you every Wednesday!
I really did enjoy it 😊 super fun video Mary you’re one of the most creative people on TH-cam 😘
Mary, ALL of the tin projects are stinky cute!!!! My favorite one is the large white one with the black “garden” sign & the black side hooks.
Love watching you Mary. You are one of my favorites. Happy Resurrection Sunday!!
That particular handle looks perfect with the can pitcher.😊
I thought I had seen or imagined all the ways to use tin cans but you shared even more ideas and they were all super cute! Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
Wow! I was making supper and I have been saving my cans for your candles. I have a can opener that takes the top off without leaving a rough edge. I walk in the next room and see I have a new video from Mary and lo and behold, you are using cans for Trash to Treasure! What are the odds? Also, I am a musician (played clarinet for 60 years) and I love your choice of music. Mary, you are my heroine.
Unbelievable what you just did with cans. You are amazing. Wow
What a fun video. So many cute, inexpensive projects. I always enjoy seeing the new items you are adding to your Etsy shop. Thanks for sharing.
You can also use Pringles potato chip containers to make soap. Just make sure to line them. They work very well
You are so creative, I don’t think there’s anything you can’t do! 😮
Can't surprise me that you made it. You're a one of a kind artisan 👏👏👏
I cant wait to try the can pitcher and planters. You're so smart and creative. LOVE all you did today.
Love your tin can projects! You can use a rubber mallet to hammer the bottom of a tin can closed; it works really well! I love the tin can birdhouse; will have to try something like that myself
Mary I just LUV the LG White Can dressed w chain handle, words & Lavender 🪻🪻🪻 Would be beautiful w a cross tucked in ☦️for Easter.
👉Also, the CAN turned WATER PITCHER...WOW👍👍👍. I like the tin can 🕯️ wax idea too👍👍👍
Aside from Mary's projects, she always is so pretty and put together!
Me.....sloppy old shirts, ill fitting pants, messy hair.
I need more self- care!!😂
I love all of these ideas, Mary! As always you execute them perfectly! Thank you for all the amazing inspiration ❤
I believe there are some purifiers for when people paint using sprays especially.
I really appreciate it how you put the cardboard box so that it would catch the spray but still with the wind some of it came back. I always thought if I would spray paint anything I would probably put like a tube from the purifier to the box ( id open a hole in that box for that tube ) and make sure the suction of the paint goes the opposite way ( through the tube into the purifier ) 😊
I have a hammer with screwdrivers inside like your's.I've had it for many years. Thanks for inviting us into your home
Your creativity never disappoints…great job!!! ❤ Repurpose and reuse!!! ❤ I’m so impressed!!! ❤ Easter blessings to you and your family. ❤️🐇❤️
Watching from Scotland and can't wait for Wednesdays to see what you're going to do. You never fail to amaze me. Thank you. God bless. X
Me too!
Wow everything beautiful!!!!
Love these ideas! I make little hanging planters out of the cans as well and I use a rubber mallet to hammer down the one end instead of trying to glue them. It flattens it out really well!
The can pitcher is so sweet Mary!! So many cute ideas you have!! Thank you for offering great such wonderful inspiration to craftand reuse!!
Mary, so creative and inspiring. Thank you so much for your beautiful channel and for giving us ideas and insiration.
I am so amaze with your talent! So inspiring
Another amazing video. Your imagination is endless. I love to see your repurpose videos as well as all of your videos.

Have a beautiful Easter!!!
Mary, all of the projects came out beautifully. It's amazing how you transformed tin cans into gorgeous pieces.
Love all of these adorable creations! You are the queen of trash to treasure along with sooo many other beautiful things! Happy Easter!💕
Thank you for sharing these creative ideas with us! Love your videos!
I love doing tin can projects you can really get creative. I have never thought of making a birdhouse I love how it turned out. The caddy is perfect for outdoor dining, another great idea.
All of these are cute. That flatwear holder would be great for patio or picnic for plastic flatwear to keep it from blowing away or tipping over.
Mary, You are our REPURPOSE QUEEN! Love your inspirational videos each week. Happy Easter 🐣 to you and your family.
Wow, never thought you could do all these things with a tin can! That’s awesome! Love everything you done with the tin cans and I really like your little hammer! 😊
Hope you have a blessed resurrection Sunday! ✝️✝️
So many great ideas, and so many adorable tin can makeovers! I think my favorite is the little birdhouse at the end. So cute!
I could watch you for hours 😊
Fantastic projects, Mary. Your creativity is absolutely boundless. Thank you for sharing.
You are so clever Mary! Anything you touch turns into something beautiful!
Your videos always leave me feeling “grounded” and wanting more. Thank you for sharing.
J'aime la boîte de conserve transformée en arrosoir ! 😊
wonderful ideas. i love to upcycle tin cans, but many videos are the same thing over and over. your ideas are amazing. thanks Mary!
Loved watching you do all of the can's. I have decoupaged a few cans myself and have been quite happy with them, I only did it for myself as a bit of fun but I must say they turned out really good. The one I really liked and I have my fingers crossed for you is the little bird house, just such a wonderful idea. 🥰🇬🇧🐾🐾💖
Ohhhhh i love the bird house!! I love allll of your projects you are such a blessing to my life i just couldnt go a day without my Mary time lol
Lovely results from so many awesome ideas Mary. Those adorable dowel feet on the cat food tins and a drawer pull! as a pitcher handle... absolutely inspired!
One way I get some of those glue spots off is.... After soaking in hot water, and removong the paper... the glue is a little softer, I take a razor blade and scrape the glue spot off. I wear a cut resistant glove on the other hand in case the blade slips. 💖🌞🌵😷
The cat food tins are perfect for candles.
Hi Mary, Thank you so much for all your videos. I have been going through a rough time, and your videos really help lift me up. -Your PA Neighbor
The animals are so cute! Love all the projects and my favorite was the pitcher.
