I'm feeling angry about my shitty day and I'm feeling like hearing some hard tunes to match my mood. But when the Aimee Mann album I had on the day before auto-starts on my Ipod...I listen to another song of hers...then an album. Then I'm not so angry anymore. She just soothes.
The poetry in this one song of all of Aimee Mann's great works, just gets to me. It's so rich and beautiful that you feel weak and hopeless without even experiencing any weakness or hopelessness when you hear it. And the tune and music behind the lyrics is so emotional, that this one song, to me, stands out in this album, despite the album itself being some top-notch lyrical storytelling. Hats off, Aimee. Done right.
Aimee is incredible....knew that the first time I saw her with Til Tuesday. She writes this stuff, and I am amazed that she is barely noticed. The Forgotten Arm is a masterpiece of high caliber. Such a beautiful lady! And accomplished poet...
