Checked into a hotel in Soho one night in 2002 and they had a box of CD's in the room, bunch of shit I never heard of, so I threw Lost in Space in the player because I dug the artwork, and was blown away. Never heard of Aimee Mann before that, loved her ever since. The Moth is a favorite, the metaphor is apt and her lyrics are poetry. Nothing fuels a good flirtation like need and anger and desperation. . .
There's gotta be an alternative universe somewhere where Aimee's had15 #1 hit's and is as famous as Meryl Streep. Where can I get a ticket? In the last 50 years her only rivals in this vale of tears have been Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones and Sam Phillips (and a d*mn shame that Amy Winehouse only made two albums). You're the greatest Aimee and when is your entire oeuvre going to be released on vinyl as it should be? I'd have to put Aimee's "The Forgotten Arm" right next to Elvis Costello's "Get Happy!!" as my all-time favorite album but the only difference is I can put Elvis on the turntable! C'mon Aimee fans, let's get all her solo releases out on vinyl where they belong!
@@Zors1957 she only used that nasal tone during this era, really just this album and to a much lesser extent on the next one (fuckin smilers) and then it disappeared forever
I find it funny when a performance just floors me, and then see that it only has 18 comments in 8 years. Though maybe this version is competing with multiple versions or the like. Regardless, just a stunning version.
Hello Aimee, I think your voice sounds beautiful. I enjoy listening to all of the music. Please keep up the excellent work; sweetstuff, love Joseph. {P.S. I'm back in CA.}
If some androgynous characters drawn by Ryoko Ikeda (Saint Just in the anime "Dear Brother", or Lady Oscar) were human, I think they would look exactly like this woman
It's like nobody here talks like that. I'm not sure she's an American. She has a soul, a mind ans a body. She is not American in any way. I like her a lot.

Even almost 20 years later this is still amazing!
Ofcourse its still great 20 years later I have just now discovered this!
Legend! I was at this show...had no idea they were filming. It was perfect!
I love this song! her voice, her performance, and the instrumentation are all extraordinary! they don't make em like this any more!

Damn shame!!!
Agreed. The Forgotten Arm is amazing. The greatest talent doesn't always (or ever?) lead to the greatest commercial success. Just ask Liz Phair.
She is a good songwriter but her voice is annoying and nasal and rather insipid.

Just heard this for the first time tonight on Mr. Robot. I like it.
me too!loved it!1
Was listening to Aimee's "Pavlov's Bell," which I loved, and this popped up. Incredible lyrics, vocal and musicianship in both.

because we all have the DVD and don't watch it on TH-cam unless we're traveling!
Why is this unimportant obeservation top of the list?
One of my favorite songwriters and definitely the best female one!!
Stunning lyrically and musically.
And moth dont care if the flame burns low
cz moth believes in an afterglow
pure talent . aimee is hot
Does she ever write a bad song. Used to see her at "The Rat" in Boston circa 1984ish, just as she was starting to get famous.
Who sang the male version in Mr. Robot though?
Also, I don't understand how this video (even if not official) doesn't have a million hits!
Les Deux Love Orchestra did.

This live version sounds 100% better than the studio album version of this song. Wow. Lots better instrument use and... everything else.
I prefer the studio version--the clicking percussion is annoying and throughout the concert (DVD) she's nasally as she gets sometime.
MISTER ROBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
First song I heard from her. I love it!
If some androgynous characters drawn by Ryoko Ikeda (Saint Just in the anime "Dear Brother", or Lady Oscar) were human, I think they would look exactly like this woman
Thx Mr Robot!
I heard this song in Mr Robot too!)
It's incredible...
Fable The Wolf Among Us, page 374
There's some addictive about this video... I listened to it once and her voice is so soothing, now I can't stop listening...

Thank you, Mr Robot, for bringing us here!

She's very much an American, get over it.
Mr. Robot brought me here!
You think you were too smart Darlene...
Yep, brought here by Mr Robot. Only watched it today and I love this song!
