There might be a lot of power cuts and poor ventilation in slums, and people will be sweating. Daily wage earners cannot work because it's too hot, then there will be no money. Luckily, painting houses white could help lower the temperature. Also, external funding for the painters allows them to subsidise the cost, and everyone can afford it.
Absolutely true. It depends on the place where You live. I have come back to long Journey from the south of Italy. Some days were sweltering. I kept at home during mornings and we headed off to beach es at 4 pm. We didnt use air conditioning for saving electricity. Thanks for superb topic.

Because of unprecedented heatwaves, people in the south east of Morocco rushed to stores to buy air conditioners. Most of the people here don't have a stable job. They are daily-wage-earners. Some of them work in construction sites while others work in mining industry.
In Spain, specifically Andalusia, which is a Spanish region with temperatures up to 40º. It is typical to paint the walls of the houses white. Another remedy is to drink beer and gazpacho.

I'm afraid that the future (if we have any future 😜) will be very very Hot. I live in Spain (South Spain) so I'm used to Heatwaves.. But there's something new about the latest heatwaves... They last longer and "the mellow Autumn".. Is not mellow any more. Just Hot or Cold. I don't fancy spoiling your day but it looks like.. The Future has begun.. Already 🔮

I'm from South Spain, specifically from one of the two hottest cities. It is impossible to live more here during Spring and Summer. However, I remember that, when I was a child, weather wasn't so extreme...😭😭😭😭😭😭 White doesn't help us so much, unfortunatelly xD.
I have a big problem in learning the English language, although I try a lot, but I fail quickly, so I ask for help from those who have experience in this difficult language. I want to speak, and I have a passion and determination to pass that language..I am an Arab young man living in Egypt and writing that comment through the translator. I want the right way to learn, even if it is through conversation with those who have mastery of that language..Please help
In slums, there are a lot of power cuts and bad ventilation so people will be sweating. And daily wage earner can't work cuz of the high temperatures, as a result of that, they didn't recieve their daily salary so they can't afford it. Due to this, the only solution is subsidise So they can afford it.
I hate the hot weather. It's dangerous staying outside recenyly in the summer, the heatwave is killing people and other creatures around the world. the hottest time is 1 pm to 3pm, I can't bear the sunlight and heat more than 5 minutes outside without shade.
Dog days are back with a bang here in India. August is the monsoon season here and climate is supposed to be pleasant. But we have been reeling under sweltering heat since the end of February as if this were an extended summer. Power black outs have become the order of the day ,especially in rural India. Power outages mean non-functioning of energised motors that are meant to extract ground water to irrigate rain dependent crops or crops in areas where the assured mode of water supply is erratic. The situation comes to such a pass that most crops wither away, throwing poor farmers deep into debt trap. The less we talk about the subsidies ,the better. Inferior seeds partly fail to germinate, adulterated manures fail to fertilise and phoney pesticides keep the pests alive resulting in either very little agricultural yield or total crop loss. Farmers who borrowed money from loan sharks at exorbitant interest rates for cultivation bear the brunt of this vicious cycle.More often than not, these subsidies are syphoned off by touts and middle men with false identities leaving the targeted beneficiaries, mostly poor farmers, in the lurch. The above contents are my personal opinion and not meant to denigrate or defame any individual/agency/institution.Thank to BBC for this informative video highlighting some of the prevailing conditions in India.
