    @Guilty of Treeson @ Eastside Tree Works, by far and away the biggest reason I started watching this channel. Jake and his crews doing insane crane work!! That, and the down to earth narratives and overall "coolness" on how the guys carry themselves!

    Forgive me for a longer post but I would like to tell you my story. A couple years ago I was working with a friend who has been a arborist for 30 years. He was good. I knew NOTHING about the tree stuff. Plus i'm older and afraid of heights so I did the ground work and just helped him. Well, one day he was tired, was a long day for him climbing trees etc. and tied off a 12" limb to cut and I was holding the rope. What WE missed was the rope was tangled so when the limb dropped it was not tight, the limb swung around and took me out. 13 Fractures in 9 ribs. Both lungs collapsed, broken vertebra. 2 weeks in intensive care and visits from professors in the medical field wanting to study how in the hell I was still alive. Being a former cop I am no stranger to danger and trauma. But that incident gave me PTSD for months. And this week I had to cut down a small tree on my property and was still, almost 3 years later, scared to death. So my point to this story is, I subbed to your channel as watching your videos give me anxiety through the roof. But they are also a form of therapy for me. Seeing how careful, safe and good you are makes me feel so much better. I am now disabled, live off percoset and cant work more than a few hours a day at my hobby business, but I would like to send you some donations when i can. You are indeed a inspiration for me. Thank you.

    It'd be cool if you did a video where you react to different tree felling fails and give some critique on how it could have been avoided and such.
    Just a suggestion

    Did those people really build the roof around the tree? Amazing. I was watching the video about the great big ass tree you was cutting up with the 7 foot bar. You guys are pretty great 👍. But limbing a tree while standing and you cut off the top and the stick swaying back and forth, I would be puking all over everyone. I used to be unafraid of heights. Then I fell off a 35 ft roof face first on a concrete sidewalk. No more high places for me. Gravity does not like me. The fall wasn't really the problem, just that sudden stop when I hit the ground. Love, love, love the videos. PEACE ✌

    Are there any companies that do some type of Apprenticeship from young and upcoming guys ? Also does the company pay for you guy's to get additional certification's / Schooling ?? I am Exec Chef / Ice Carver
    wanting to know more --__--

    • @dr8614
      @dr8614 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Companies will usually start you on the ground dragging brush and chipping until you learn how to run ropes and operate a chainsaw. Then when you've mastered the ground and show promise you might start getting opportunities to climb or operate the bucket truck. I was a ground guy for a year or so before becoming an apprentice climber/bucket operator. Some guys spend longer on the ground before getting that opportunity depending on the situation you're in and how fast you learn. I think being a ground guy is an essential first step on the way to be a climber.

    On a vacation, do you hang glide, dive off waterfalls, go mountain climbing, or parachuting to relax? Geez. My younger days I would be all over this type of work. I damaged my body and back being Hercules for so many heavy lifting jobs paying minimum wage in the 80s. I do well to walk a half of a block now and I am in my 50s. I see this and wish I grew up in area with more opportunities. I did learn other technical skills, but those went away quickly as technology speeds up. Love the videos, miss the camaraderie of working with a well trained team of hard working guys. Question: Would you want your kids doing what you do? Would you want to teach them or someone else?
