    I introduced my puppy to this at 6 weeks and she peed on this the first time. Shes only had a handful of accidents since then and she’s now going to be 12 weeks old and she’s doing great. She has her own corner with a doggy door and her food, bed, & grass pad & she goes in there to use it every time and if shes on the bed or couch she’ll get off to go use her grass. Im honestly so proud of her. I also take her outside sometimes since we have artificial grass outside and she also uses that. The grass pads do get stinky so I have two small indoor ones for her that i switch off when the one she has starts to get stinky. I wash them by putting dishsoap and odor fighting detergent on them and pouring water over it to let soak for a couple hours & then i just hose it off and hang it outside to dry.

    My puppy is potty trained and knows to go outside. I want to introduce him to this in case i am gone extended hours and if he needs back up. He rips up the paper pee pads. With the grass pee pad he is confused because he knows that he isn’t supposed to pee inside, and instead chooses to chew it or just sit on it :(

      Having similar trouble, my dog is trained to pee outside and not in our apartment especially when we are home. He only ever pees when we leave him home alone. Anybody got any extra advice on what to do because he doesn’t want to pee on it as he thinks he’s doing the wrong thing!

    Do you clean it in tub? Outside?does the side bottom of the grass get rotted if it stays wet too long?

    Hi
    What do you recommend using to clean the grass?

  • @billmagousis6231
    @billmagousis6231 4 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    Have been using the one with the tray to remove urine but have not seen videos of how to actually clean the synthetic grass bit which actually gets saturated with urine. Would appreciate a video of how people effectively clean the grass bit which is the hardest.

    • @PauAndrePau
      @PauAndrePau 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I usually clean the synthetic grass with soapy water and a hard broom specifically for that, that way i get rid of all of the residue

    • @UrbanErvin
      @UrbanErvin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it doesn't seem like it would be easy to chew or pull out, but I can't say with certainty...it's an interesting question. My guess is that once it smells or urine, he would not try to chew it.

    Going to give this a try. We have a 12 week old Blue Heeler. He has been doing great with potty training, but we had a hiccup yesterday during a rain shower. I stood in the yard with an umbrella, but he was having no part of it. Thought about putting this on our covered porch for inclement weather situations. Thoughts?

    • @UrbanErvin
      @UrbanErvin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That might work well, especially with your puppy. I've found it really can be hard to teach an older dog new tricks - at least with potty training. The key is getting it used the first time. Good luck!

    I purchased this for my puppies they do nothing but eat it, tear it apart. I've had to remove it on the first day of using it as they were not giving up and were choking on the pieces. Any ideas how to stop this? The grass pieces also fall out constantly if you touch or move it.

    • @UrbanErvin
      @UrbanErvin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really don't know...that did not happen with us, but it wasn't being used consistently, so we moved it to the shed.

      If they’re in the teething age you have to have it in a place where you can always see it. If they start biting or tearing it have a toy near by. Remove them from the grass and give them the toy. It’s to teach them, like all other things, what is permitted to play with and what is not permitted to play with. You may not be able to leave them alone with it at first. Just take them to it in 3 to 4 hours depending how old they are. If they’re 3 mo take them ever 3 hours if they’re 4 mo the every 4

      We did not find that to be the case. BTW, our senior dog would never use the patch for its intended purpose, but our younger dog would.

    Can they poop on it. And you just rinse it off? My mom said I might be able to get a dog soon-ish. I want a Pomeranian (I like the name phoebe) Anyways, I’ve been doing research for like, 4 months and I’m still doing so lol. Thanks for this tho.

    • @UrbanErvin
      @UrbanErvin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes, you are correct. They can poop on it and you can pick it up and/or rinse it off. It is easier to walk them outside, but that isn't always possible. Good luck with getting a dog!
