  • SRM 225 just needed a little tweak!
    I used a 1.5mm crochet hook to remove the black plastic plug. Heat up the tip cherry red, push into the plug and let cool, then pull it out. With a properly sized flat screwdriver turn Out the brass adjusting screw to jack out the brass plug. Then you are free to adjust the high speed mixture for the correct tip end rpm!

    Great video, but just a slight correction, I hope you don't mind. The carb is not a Walbro, it is a Zama! RB-K9ish I think...

      I stand corrected by the Master! I confused it with the ever so popular Walbro WYL carb. Oh how I despise all the Rotary Barrel design carbs! Thanks for the clarification!

      The small crochet hook I use for Briggs rubber inlet seats, the red ones, as the Tecumseh tool is a bit too large. This small crochet hook is just right for the job with the perfect tip size!

    Ken well put together video that will surely save any viewer a lot of money by not needing to take their trimmer to the repair shop. Additionally, a very fair price to charge for this repair!

    I'd ask the guy to try going back to the 50:1 to see what happens. I've been running Amsoil Saber 2-stroke oil at 80/100:1 for a while now with no issues. I also use a little fuel stabilizer because it takes me a couple months to go thru 2.5 gallons of gas in my Echo and Shindaiwa 2-strokes.

    • @KensSmallEngineRepair
      @KensSmallEngineRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This guy uses it infrequently so he buys canned premix. I find some newer equipment, especially with these rotary barrel carbs, need to be tweaked ever so slightly each season.

      @leonardo migot I tried warming up for 5 minutes and no change. No after the 1/16 ccw turn it revs up immediately cold or warm

    • @nelsonbrum8496
      @nelsonbrum8496 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the guy isn't running that trimmer at WOT, and there is a spark arrestor installed, he could be plugging it up.
      My first Echo trimmer I bought used for $50. It would rev about half throttle and no more. I pulled the muffler to check for piston scoring, and noticed the screen was about 80% plugged. I burned off the residue with a torch and reinstalled it. That thing ran just fine for about 9 years until it got stolen (along with almost everything else in the truck bed) in 2008.

    • @KensSmallEngineRepair
      @KensSmallEngineRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nelsonbrum8496 agreed on checking the spark arrestor. I see the majority of clogged spark arrestors in Backpack Blowers and handheld blowers were they idle and get used part throttle often. Thanks for watching!

    Take a look in some carb adjusting drivers. There are two with slightly different thread diameters. They screw in and remove the plugs easily. Enjoy the videos. Hope it helps.
