I mean... between Voltron and She-Ra having reboots, we're definitely in a nostalgia fueled age. The problem with these reboots is they have to be better than the source material, which isnt always an issue (see: my little pony). Im still excited to see what gets rebooted and reinspired next!
The original folk song of Scarborough Fair was about politely telling an ex lover that they are no longer interested. Paul Simon came up with and made Canticle, an anti-war song, then blended the two together with his pal Art Garfunkel, in Scarborough Fair/Canticle. In effect, it tells the warmongers and people who love death and violence that we are no longer interested in their bull, and why. It’s one of the prettiest break-up songs with war itself that was ever made.
Don't for get, some of the lyrics are from Paul Simon's The Side of a Hill, a song a a war that waged on for so long that the soldiers and generals forgot why they were fighting and accidentally killing a 7 year old boy
The way the dragon shakes her head as she fires off a giddy flame as she plays with the unicorn: it feels real and natural. The sheer amount of the emotion in the unicorn’s eyes as he lies with the dragon is powerful, and my heart beats with his eyes as he gazes at her. The consternation and heartbreak in the dragon’s eyes, looking about wildly as she suffers her fatal wound is mind-blowing to me. You can see it; you can really see it. You see it, and you can feel them in your heart. It’s in every frame, every blink, every turning of the head. The submissive, lack of belonging as the unicorn looks away from his herd members fighting. His eyes as he cries over the body of his lost love, his fear for the worst come to pass; it’s as though denying him pride or dignity wasn’t enough, that the others of his herd had to take even this from him. As his form goes alight, his expression is calm, touched with sadness; he’s made up his mind. And as he gently touches her snout, you see all his love, all his regret for what happened, all his yearning for things to have been different, and you feel his goodbye. The pensive way she touches the gift he left when she wakes, quiet, understanding, sad, with love still warming her heart even though he is gone. I may not know the meaning of the song itself, but the sounds of it and the story accompanying the video enchant me in ways I can’t explain. I don't mean to wax poetic, but if anyone who worked on this sees my comments, I just want them to know how it captivated me.
@@iscoppie as amazing as Dan's vocal talents shine for those with ears, yours clearly shine through to anyone with eyes. The detail and subtlety in this animation are truly amazing.
@@iscoppie Your animation is stunning. Thank you so much for doing this. The beautiful vocals wouldn't have resonated the same without the deep emotions you drew.
Everyone talking about expressions and so on, but the way the petals of the flowers are moved by the air, by the beat of the dragons wings, or caught up in her breath . . . it's incredible. The animation is incredible.
@@jadethomas2430 he gave his life for the dragon- and looks like his soul is trapped into the flower that was in front of the dragon when he did the spell
You're absolutely right. So many elements make this hit even harder than it would have otherwise. I'm studying animation and characters always stand out to me the most, but details like the petals, the weight of the dragon's body as she beats her wings... So many small things make this all feel RIGHT and immersive. Thanks for this comment, or else I probably wouldn't have thought to study those things in this video too.
I love how this animation uses the actual mythology of unicorns, especially for the end. Unicorns are the magical embodiment of life itself. And to give up that life is truly something sad. That forest dragon cannot breath life into the little things of the world like that dear Unicorn, but they can plant them and wait. Ugh, gods, I'm crying. (Knowing the mythology just makes this harder T^T)
I know what u mean and tbh it's beautiful and sad bc she can't get. Him back and it's sad that he gave his life for a dragon when the others tried to take her life
I really love that, when the dragon and unicorn get together, Dan has a harmony with his voice. But before and after, it's just one voice. It really adds to the story.
On top of the lovely sound of the song, the imagery and use of 'plant language' is lovely too Parsley: Removes bitterness Sage: Strength and Wisdom Rosemary: Love Thyme: Courage and happiness and the use of oak and the purple flowers of which I think looks closest to Sea Lavender/Statice in this animation- Oak: Strength, Morale, Resistance, Knowledge Sea Lavender: Remembrance and Sympathy, though the purple kind also specifically represents Mystery, Enchantment, Charm, and Grace
Thank you for the full breakdown of some of the meaning's of plants. I think, especially with this S&G song, a lot of that context is missed, and that's even more so with this animation.
This really hits me hard. My sister would have loved this. She's no longer with us, she struggled with depression for years. She loved this song, she loved dragons and unicorns and Dan's voice is so soft and soothing. I've watched this video for 2 nights now, and have cried each time
How the HELL am I finding this 2 yrs later!? Everything about this is just so beautiful oh my god!! This made me fucking cry for how beautiful everything about this piece is! WELL FUCKING DONE
Imogen Scoppie is by far my favorite animator that does Game Grumps. Everything she does is full of expressive emotion, even if it's just Aaron yelling at things.
The animation is stunning, this obviously had a lot of heart put into it. The animators deserve way more recognition. Everyone who worked on this project told a beautiful story that we are lucky to watch. Thank you I hope you all have a wonderful day
Yep! Imogen Scoppie also did the animations for In Your Eyes which is also incredible. But this just made all three of us weep like babies when we saw what she did.
When I was young and we had to write short stories in school the teachers would say "write what you know", and I knew I loved mythical creatures... so I would always write about unicorns, dragons, pegasus, mermaids, etc. The main story arcs would always include two creatures from differing species meeting and becoming friends against the odds. Often because both were outcasts. These are the stories I would write from grade 3-onward. I distinctly remember the one with a young winged-unicorn running away to the top of the mountain because the rest of the herd was mean to him... and that's where he met the dragon who was feared by everyone else. They ended up saving all of the creatures in the entire valley from some sort of evil threat. NEEDLESS TO SAY. Watching this made my mouth fall open, I was speechless, seeing something I had imagined over and over so many times for so many years come to life so beautifully through someone completely separate from me. While accompanied by Dan's voice... I just had the best cry I have had in ages. I immediately purchased the CD. You cannot have a moment of such pure and raw emotion like that and just continue on with your day. That was the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced. Thank you to everyone involved in it's creation.
Okay I thought this was just going to be a cute and beautiful little animatic about a misfit friendship BUT THEN IT JUST UP AND RIPPED MY HEART OUT AND NOW I'M CRYING
Short format can actuslly make it EASIER as you can really REALLY focus on the biggest moments Wheras a whole film you have to come up with stuff to fit the ENTIRE runtime. Its why for some reaching an essay word count is really hard
My dad used to travel around singing folk music. when he got married to my mum and had me he started to settle and decided to be a stay at home dad. I have so many memories of him singing this song to me and practising it for hours. I can't even begin explaining how much this song means to me and how much it means to me that you covered it. EDIT: in case any of you were interested in his singing, his name is Jim Brannigan and he still has a bunch of his music on his channel Jim Lad! ^-^
My favourite detail in this video is the unicorn's intentions as he went to grab the two plants they presented to each other when they first met. He couldn't even close his eyes to sleep he was so enamoured with her. It almost felt as though he went to pick the plants to grow them together to show their union, how their souls were entwined, and how they could continue to grow together. The sad irony being that after it all they're left in memorium instead just really hurts my heart. The fact that this rendition shares an even cut of true love and heart wrenching pain really makes me feel, and I appreciate it.
The thing about the song is, it's not about actually successing in these impossible tasks. (You can't make a shirt without seams nor needle work) it's about trying to. It's about trying to do all this for the one you love, even when you know that you can't possibly succeed.
I've always seen it as a breakup song essentially the singer is telling the person to do this stuff as a sort and will get back together of fu what really ties this Theory together is that there's an actual response to the classic song from the woman's point of view also telling him to do these impossible task and then we'll get back together. but I like your idea to.
@@j3ssthealien283 So there is no "classic song" as Scarborough Fair IS the classic song from the early 19th century. If you mean The Elfin Knight, that actually further disproves your theory as the song is based on Scottish tradition and folklore for marriage. The idea is the couple will stay together until the impossible tasks are done.
Releasing this now, when isolation is recommended to everyone, is a move of sheer genius. The song already has the tones of longing and loneliness. Add in the visuals (that are stunning btw), my favorite singer ever, and talented guitar work: you have a song that shakes some to their very core.
This whole affair screams some of Dan's favorite things: 1) A classic song 2) Dan can sing in the cadence of a Renaissance bard 3) Animation paired with music that has mythical creatures, stars a unicorn, and uses a style reminiscent of _The Last Unicorn._
Not enough people are saying it so I will: THIS ANIMATION IS GORGEOUS! It's fluid and impactful, tells a beautiful story and perfectly fits the melancholic, romantic tone of the song. It calls to mind earlier animation like the work Sanrio did in the early 80s or more recently, the films of Cartoon Saloon. Beautiful work! Bravo Imogen Scoppie!
For those who don't know, this is a cover/rendition of Simon & Garfunkel's song by the same name and, personally, I like this version so much more. The original is slow and calming, this version is also slow and calming but feels like it tells a story; the pacing, the tone, and, paired with the animation, evokes emotion rather than just calmness. Especially comparing the line "generals ordered their soldiers to kill", the original line is sung more quietly and in the background, this version is more out in the open and evokes emotions in the listener, it tells a story with the way its sung here. In short, ya'll did an AMAZING job! I love it!
The animated shorts that have been made to go along with these Dan Avidan songs like this one and Magnum Bullets have been some of the best animated short films I have seen for a long time, no dialogue needed, the story is all told visually with the music as a beautiful backdrop, this one is on par with Disney or Ghibli.
Daniel Sams knight of the light table is their name and their work is just mind blowing. It's actually helped inspire me to become an animator, I'm planning on doing a bachelor starting next year 😁
Yes same!!! For a split second.. she searches for him. To be by her side. To not be alone in that second of death. I love it. And hate it at the same time.
@@pasteldreams5413 because relationship between female and male is the most common in the world, that's why she viewed it that way, don't u have common sense?
@@rizkymubaroq3025 I don't think that's quite right. The dragon reads as female and the unicorn as male to me due to the way they're drawn, not because there 'has' to be a male and a female.
Since finding this video, I play it for my niece at bedtime - watching the animation helps her focus and find calm, so she falls asleep quicker. She loves the melody and vocals - Pretty voice, she calls it. She comes to me anytime she gets sleepy, asking for me to play this for her. And I've noticed she sleeps longer and wakes up with less night terrors. I just want to thank each and every one of you who put so much in to this, it doesn't go unnoticed!
I've seen this a thousand times and still cry every time. I've even adapted the story and added it to my D&D games and have had my players watch this video afterwards.
Wasn't expecting to cry like a baby over this but hey here we are. This was beautiful you guys, from the story and animation to the cover of the song. I just want to sit and keep watching it but can't afford to drown in tears today.
yea what!? I came into the video thinking it's good the unicorns headbutting each other have the mind to not stab each other with that. Then suddenly I got chills when the unicorns thought the dragon killed one of them and the waterworks started soon after.....
I rarely comment. No one will see this. That's fine. Mr. Avidan and compatriots, I am compelled to comment now. This video is beautiful. In the truest, purest sense. It hearkens back to 'The Last Unicorn' in the best way. I am not a person who is touched by many things to the point of crying. This video is one of them. Even thinking of it now, tears are welling up. It is pure, heartbreaking childhood for me. Thank you for the hard work, dedication, and love you all put into your projects. I shall remember this video after men are gone and tales told by rabbits.

We ain't even recovered from Circle, Triangle, Square and Star, and now you comin' in with the Montagues and Capulets as told by Peter S. Beagle? Come on Dan, my heart can't take this.
My lord the look on the Dragon’s face was just so- “Why?! Why would you do this, I didn’t do anything wrong! I love them..” That expression just broke me.. Honestly the poor thing looked so confused and shocked. The animation and everything was gorgeous, I’m glad I looked this song up again and came back to this video. 1. Dan Avidan has the voice of an angel and no one can convince me otherwise 2. Simon and Garfunkel knew what was up 3. Oml the story part almost made me cry
I had to watch this video about a dozen times before I caught on to something: the words of the song almost perfectly line up with the action in the animation. Whoever storyboarded this is a genius. It's very subtle, yet very powerful to listen to the lyrics and realize the artist totally understood the song.
I'm not sure I follow. As I understand it, the lyrics describe a set of impossible tasks the embittered singer issues to a former lover to win back the singer's affection; sufficiently melancholic, but not the same as the tragedy depicted here. Would you show your working?
they make about $500,000,000 per month bc of their 5 bucks a month thing on Disney plus so we should expect some pretty good quality movies coming our way now
this is the most beautiful rendition of Donkey and Dragon's love story from Shrek i've ever seen but in all seriousness, the whole experience was just beautiful. i've cried many times to this already
I didn't expect to be crying this early in the morning after crying so hard last night from working at the hospital. Maybe my emotions are amplified but this is so beautiful. Congrats Dan and the guitars bros for conveying such beauty in this cover.
My biggest problem with this video is that so many moments are heartbrakingly beautiful images. My instinct is to skip back and rewatch some but I cant stop the spell Dan's gobblin' out there

This is the first time I’ve heard Dan sing. And can I just say, it’s like he’s a whole different person from the show. And yet I can still here his laughter in the voice singing. I somehow didn’t expect him to sound so mystical in this. But he’s actually so wonderful 🥲
Me: Okay, it took a while, but I think I've finally recovered from Magnum Bullets. This video: Allow me to introduce myself. Seriously, I wasn't prepared for how emotional this would make me. Flawless. Absolutely flawless.
She was given three impossible tasks, the one who shows symbolism of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. A shirt with no seams or needlework, an acre of land between the shore and the sea, and farm that land with tools of leather and flowers. Impossible tasks to be his true love. Because they are as impossible as bringing life to the dead, not without equal payment.
Thinking about it... I can think of how to do those. Making a shirt with no seam or needlework? Sounds like a job for crochet hook- it’s never said he has to be able to wear it, after all. Then, for an acre of land between shore and sea, that’s the length a man can walk in a day- so, a large sandbar. Then, farming that land with leather and flowers... leather boots and a big piece of flowering branch, to dredge up whatever’s in the sandbar. That’s how you beat impossible tasks.
@@Catchandelier22 cambric is a fine linen and the shirt must be made for him, a space between the water and the beach does not exist it's either sea or shore, and it's a sickle of leather and bundling the produce with a delicate flower. This video still makes me cry so much, even when I know it's coming. Everything about it, the animation, the music, Dan's voice, it's just so beautiful.
I love that when the unicorns saw the dragon sleeping on the petals, they didn't see a harmless sleeping beast, they saw a frightening, spike covered dragon sleeping on the blood of their former friend. Vice versa when the unicorn started charging the dragon. The red light only illuminated the hatred/fear filled eyes and the horn poised for attack. Its such a small detail, but a good one. Fear is such a powerful thing, and it warps minds so much, and the only unicorn without fear of the dragon was one who had already experienced some sort of trauma (the unicorn was scarred and their horn was probably broken in a fight).
I always thought the unicorn is a male who was rejected from his herd for his inadequate horn! He meets a female dragon; they fall in love, but he leaves her when he sees the evil his herd(community) has done to her! He is afraid they will hurt her again, so he does not return! (As with many stories, it parallels human society, and the evils we do to one another; this is why it is so sad and moving!)
@@bardrick4220 Personally I thought that the dragon's friend gave it's own life to save the dragon's. Which is why the unicorn disappeared as the dragon healed, and a young tree grew next to the small bush of flowers the unicorn wanted to give to the dragon.

Me looking to watch Magnum Bullets for the 100th time: "Oh another animated Dan Avidan song!" Me 3 minutes later, sobbing: "SHEEEE ONCE WAS A TRUE LUB OV..." *incoherent gurgling*
The small details in this animation tells so much about the characters. Like the unicorn having the scrapes on his cheeks from loosing fights with the others and the unicorns seeing red when they spot the dragon (who are mortal enemies within western lore). The animation is simple and beautiful
That and the field of red appeared, to them, to be blood, which they assumed was the blood of the unicorn who wandered off. They assumed the dragon murdered one of their own and so attacked, enraged.
There is something magical about how the Dragon's movements look rotoscoped somehow, it just brings a random nostalgia, it's beautiful, and i was able to see it's iscoppie's style right away, such a marvelous video
Anytime my baby is have a hard time falling asleep or is in pain from teething I show her this music video. She drops everything to watch and listen. It's like she's studying this beautiful piece of art. No matter how cranky she is if I put this on for her everything else takes a back seat.
I legitimately teared up. that might be the quickest someone has made me so emotional between the gorgeous visuals and the ethereal sound of dans voice
I’ve never cried over a cartoon like this before… the way the emotion in the dragons eyes became when they were stabbed in the chest, really tore through me. It was literally horrifying. 😞
I believe they are using these lyrics, if anyone’s wondering: Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Yup, this is the Simon and Garfunkel arrangement. There's actually two songs here, there's Scarborough Fair which is an old English folk song and Canticle (in the parentheses) which was written by Simon and Garfunkel. In this arrangement that Paul Simon heard first from Martin Carthy, they spliced in Canticle's lyrics that had war undertones and a different meaning. Very cool song, and the meaning of the original lyrics is really interesting too.

Sure I get emotional about any animation, especially so majestically done like this. But this is something on a whole new level. Its so beautiful, vocally, artistry, and emotionally. Everyone who made it deserves so much more recognition and love.
literally grew up with my dad singing this to me to help me get to sleep. i'm 25 now, and crying my eyes out over this video and cover of the song. he's not dead but i'm really starting to miss him and my whole family in this pandemic, so thank you for bringing back some really nice memories for me today. 💕💕💕
The animation of this is so gut wrenchingly beautiful, I cried at the sight of the dragon panicking... the sheer emotion in her eyes. I adore dragons so seeing a female dragon alone was beautiful to me, but then seeing her panic... oh God did it hurt. The animation gives this such life that even the song alone cannot. Together, however, they make one of the most beautiful pieces of art I've ever seen.
That's because not only is the animation beautiful and sad, but so is the song. From my understanding, the main set of lyrics for the song are a man telling his lover she may have him if she fulfills a set of impossible tasks (ie sewing him a seamless shirt), while the second set of lyrics that echo explain the circumstances which lead to the man singing to pass away. Soldiers broke into his cabin while he was asleep and killed him. Which is why he gave an impossible list of demands to his lover. He is dead and cannot be with her. At least that's my understanding of the song. I may be wrong. Still a sad song either way and Dan did it justice.
Coincidentally, one episode of “Futurama” features Cyclon and Garfunkel (GET IT??!) singing this exact song. I just LOVE how we went full circle around this topic!
Me before the video, having never heard the original: "Oh cool, a fun new song by Danny. Can't wait to get some laughs and jam at the same time. Me after the video, crying: "BUT WHY? MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT."
I didn't remember much about this song, I knew it was a cover of a song I'd heard before. When I saw the top commenter say they cried, I was like "okay guess I have to brace myself!" Not enough, man. Not enough. Now my lunch just tastes like my tears...
When I was younger, my partner of 5 years, died of self poisoning. I listened to this song so much when he passed, hearing it again after so long... Thank you again. This is the second time this album is making me feel old feelings of the past. I dont know how to feel bout it. The animation was beautiful, and the music is wonderful keep up the amazing work
It's poisoning if it's intentional Also it's funny how the right melody and arrangement can make people think of things like this... ...even though the song is about telling your ex you'll never take them back
The unicorn healed the mortal wound of the dragons heart, but he left a hole in there that will never go away. Beautiful cover of one of my favourite ballads with a breathtaking animation that is somehow fitting so well to the lyrics... a work of a true genius. Whenever I'll hear this song from now on, I'll always think of the sad love-story of a dragon and a unicorn. I've watched this so often by now and it still touches my heart every time. The expressions are amazing and are carrying the story on without need for words. Be it the shocked anger of the other unicorns due to the misunderstanding, his loving gaze upon her, the sadness of the unicorn followed by the calm acception as he realizes what he has to do. And the dragon… the expressions of that scaly beast during the whole animations are breathtaking: The curiosity when she sees him for the first time, the joy as she is breathing fire into the air, the wonder after she is revived, the sadness after realizing she is alone. Even during her death there is so much emotion visible in her eyes: Incomprehension and surprise about this senseless (to her) attack, anger about this injustice... the way she desperately tries to cling to life before she falls. Very sad but at the same time amazingly beautiful... a big thank you to everyone involved for this musical and visual masterpiece.

"politely"? Sounds about as polite as "We'll get back together when hell freezes over" xD
This makes so much sense. I've always wondered why the singer was asking for such imposible things.
@@rfmerrill I agree, same energy as "My dear, I don't give a damn!"
Don't for get, some of the lyrics are from Paul Simon's The Side of a Hill, a song a a war that waged on for so long that the soldiers and generals forgot why they were fighting and accidentally killing a 7 year old boy
war asks humans to do impossible things under the false pretense of a love for their country, just like the singer asks of the ex lover

On top of the lovely sound of the song, the imagery and use of 'plant language' is lovely too
Parsley: Removes bitterness
Sage: Strength and Wisdom
Rosemary: Love
Thyme: Courage and happiness
and the use of oak and the purple flowers of which I think looks closest to Sea Lavender/Statice in this animation-
Oak: Strength, Morale, Resistance, Knowledge
Sea Lavender: Remembrance and Sympathy, though the purple kind also specifically represents Mystery, Enchantment, Charm, and Grace
Thank you for the full breakdown of some of the meaning's of plants. I think, especially with this S&G song, a lot of that context is missed, and that's even more so with this animation.

This whole affair screams some of Dan's favorite things:
1) A classic song
2) Dan can sing in the cadence of a Renaissance bard
3) Animation paired with music that has mythical creatures, stars a unicorn, and uses a style reminiscent of _The Last Unicorn._

Not enough people are saying it so I will:
THIS ANIMATION IS GORGEOUS!

Thank you for posting the words! I just love this song!
Thanks so much
Thank you! I couldn't make out most of the counter verse
No problem everyone! I'm a huge fan too
Oh look at me, I’m dan. Im super talented and make music that everyone likes.
Oh look at me, I'm Dan. I make everyone cry with my beautiful haunting voice and incredible self-harmonies.
Oh look at me, I'm Dan. I can sing about goofy sex stuff and serious stuff.
Oh look at me, I'm dan. A beautiful and irreplaceable person who everyone wants to be friends with.
Oh look, I’m Dan, I’m so handsome and everyone likes me.
Oh look at me, I’m Dan, I’m such a loner and yet I’ve fucked EVERYONE.
I am not even remotely recovered from Magnum Bullets and yet here we are
Could you put the link to that song on here for me please I havent heard it but now I wanna
Starlight Brigade is really good too
She was given three impossible tasks, the one who shows symbolism of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
It's poetry, poking tiny holes in the realism of it is just attempting to worsen the symbology for others
+
Could u tell me what the ''not without equal payment'' means in the last sentence? Thank u.
@@lvbruce4595 Sort of like... a life for a life almost? Like in the video the unicorn brought the dragon back, but at the implied cost of their own life.
At least I think that's what they mean by equal payment.
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
Tell her to make me a cambric shirt
(in the deep forest green)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested ground)
Without no seams nor needle work
(Bedclothes the child of the mountain)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)
Tell her to find me an acre of land
(On the side of a hill, a sprinkling of leaves)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
(Washes the grave with silvery tears)
Between the salt water and the sea strands
(And polishes a gun)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather
(Blazing in scarlet battalions)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Generals order their soldiers to kill)
And gather it all in a bunch of heather
(A cause they've long ago forgotten)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
I can't get over the "SAGE" it's soo good
You are a true hero
oh bless you
Quick note: on the Cause they’ve long ago forgotten line it needs “And to fight for”
God it’s such a beautiful song.
The part after acre of land needs on the side of a hill before a sprinkling of leaves
Her horn wasn't broken it was short, if it was broken it would be broken-looking, not look like a perfect horn.
@@Ned-nw6ge you should at least try to use gender pronouns when referring to intelligent creatures; "it" may be correct English, but it's dehumanizing, specist and confusing; "it" would only be acceptable for a genderless android or AI.
ah yes the usual pointing out the obviouss comment thank you good sir and/or madam for pointing out the obvious
Me: Yeah nah, I don't see why I'd cry toda-

Just noticed the unicorn has a scar on his face which I assume is from losing an earlier fight. Cool
On his neck too

could explain why his horn is smaller too, maybe got broken.
Thanks for pointing that out! The little details in this animation never cease to amaze me. It’s a true work of art.

Me looking to watch Magnum Bullets for the 100th time: "Oh another animated Dan Avidan song!"
Me 3 minutes later, sobbing: "SHEEEE ONCE WAS A TRUE LUB OV..." *incoherent gurgling*
And when the unicorn heals the dragon, if you look at the scrape on his cheek, you'll see that his scrape heals as well

"generals order their soldiers to kill" over the scene of the unicorns attacking the dragon.
There is something magical about how the Dragon's movements look rotoscoped somehow, it just brings a random nostalgia, it's beautiful, and i was able to see it's iscoppie's style right away, such a marvelous video
I'm not sobbing uncontrollably, you're sobbing uncontrollably. And it's making me sob uncontrollably.
No, im not crying, I have something in my eye!
I'm not crying! It's raining on my face!
Sayyy whaaaa??? Meeee??? Noooo!!! IT WAS THE DAMN INVISIBLE NINJAS THATS CHOPPING ONIONS EVERYWHERE!!!
Anytime my baby is have a hard time falling asleep or is in pain from teething I show her this music video. She drops everything to watch and listen. It's like she's studying this beautiful piece of art. No matter how cranky she is if I put this on for her everything else takes a back seat.
Danny did say one of his favorite movies was The Last Unicorn
He loves unicorns.
He's got good taste. I adored that movie as a child and I still enjoy it.
I love how he really loves that movie
Anyone else notice the scratches on the unicorn, and how they healed when he gave his life for the dragon?
Yeah, I noticed that. These were probably from losing an early fight.

@@imthecaiman1703 I assumed it healed the dragon, then ran off in the "we can't be together" trope. But maybe I'm looking too far into a music video.
The ending can be interpreted in many ways, but it's joyful and sad regardless.
@@carla.n.5078 Yup, because I think he just give his life to bring her back.
I legitimately teared up. that might be the quickest someone has made me so emotional between the gorgeous visuals and the ethereal sound of dans voice
I’ve never cried over a cartoon like this before…
the way the emotion in the dragons eyes became when they were stabbed in the chest, really tore through me.
It was literally horrifying.

@@sebastianleo1708 Yes! I love the fact that they included the Canticle lyrics here. Most covers don't.

Nice. She sounds like a wonderful mother. I wish mine sang this to me.

Thank you much appreciated.
Call him and tell him. While you still can. He'll appreciate it so much.
“Where’s my boyfriend?”
“I’m sorry ma’am... who do you think donated the ominous glowing life energy?”

@@Jamjamsart I dunno, that unicorn's face and hair weirdly make me solely think of Dan x)
This is broke my heart into pieces
This song means nothing to me and yet I, a grown ass man, am crying almost as hard as I did at the end of the episode about Fry's dog in Futurama.
Same
Why did you have to bring that poor pupper up you fecker xD
Dude why'd you have to bring Seymour into this
Coincidentally, one episode of “Futurama” features Cyclon and Garfunkel (GET IT??!) singing this exact song.
I just LOVE how we went full circle around this topic!
2011: Reversal of the Heart.

Dragons have big hearts, a terrible past, hunted to extinction by man in some stories, gods of creation, long lives and long memories!
Reversal of the Heart? Haven't heard that name in years....
When I saw the top commenter say they cried, I was like "okay guess I have to brace myself!"
Not enough, man. Not enough.
Now my lunch just tastes like my tears...

I'm truly sorry for your loss ... < (
The unicorn healed the mortal wound of the dragons heart, but he left a hole in there that will never go away.
Thank you so much- I'm the animator and I really appreciate your lovely comment! Take care!
