  • Scott Stokely is a Guiness World Record holder for both backhand and forehand distance throws and I had the chance to get a personal lesson from him! In this video, he talks about some of the do's and don't's of the backhand.

His attention to detail is very key to his lessons

I felt that was the best part of the lesson overall! Without the ability to see every minor detail or flaw, a teacher won’t be able to accurately diagnose the issue in the form.

I've been telling people and my kids to imagine the disc is on a table in front of them and to slide it straight back then forward to throw keeping disc almost flat on table.
Thats what helps me keep the disc straight flat and high in front of my chest!

    Great video and great teaching!!
These videos are underrated! I had watched your older videos a while back,, but just came across these newer ones and didn't know if I cld gain much from them, but I was wrong and I have gained a few more things!
    Thanks!

I think you have been watching a lot of Bradly Williams, who watched a lot of Paul McBeth.

With the tip that Scott gave you for your "power" throws, how many more feet did you add onto those drives versus your controlled shots? Great video!

How far are those throws going, maybe 300-350?

Yeah, that’s probably about how far those went.

You can see the wind pushing the discs down

Seems to me, he’s just turning backwards on his run up, instead of coiling. The freeze frame at the end was probably his worst form. He was flat footed with left heel turned completely backwards towards the target.

Scott says straight back and straight forward, but others say the arm pivots out, in, and out again because straight back crowds your chest. Anyone else come across this?

I prefer the out in out. Same reason you said, plus I seem to get more spin that way.
