Good information, thanks for posting. Our 1988 T1 310 won't go into reverse gear now, so this is the first job on the list before looking any further. Hopefully this will sort things out! Happy travels.
This video was very helpful. It is a simple repair, but nice to see someone do it beforehand. I just replaced those three bushing you show today, but I must have moved a lever or something, because now the gearing is all screwed up and out of order. Do you happen to know the best way to get the shifting order correct? Once I take the levers off the splined shafts (although I marked them), I must have put them on "slightly" different from how they came off... I need to look into this tomorrow...
Hi, yes I had the same problem and as a result I could not get 2nd gear. It’s important to get the right selection rods the right way around. But even then I could not get it into second gear. So what I did was select second then pop off the clip and pop the selector rod of the bush and click the selector arm a little in the direction it needed to go for second, it then slipped into second gear. Then I re inserted the selector rod back into the bush and found that the selector arm needed to be moved a little on its splines. Removing the selector arm and putting it back on the splines in the correct position solved the problem. I hope you can understand what I’ve just tried to explain. I’m afraid I don’t have the van anymore so I can’t make anymore videos on the subject. Good luck :)
Hi, thank you for saying so :) parts for the 207d can be obtained on the internet quite easily, eBay etc for the van it’s self. They are still used and parts available in many Eastern European countries, these advertise on eBay a lot. As for the Motorhome side of the van, companies such as O’Leary’s and Magnum who are in Grimsby sell most parts but sometimes you have to use caravan breakers for some bits. DIY is the main way these vans are maintained. I’ve sold my 207d now after 15 years of use, we did a lot to her over the years so if you need any advice just send me a message here. We made a new Mercedes sprinter van Motorhome that we now live in.
Hello, my mercedes 208 D has the same system and it rubs the gears when putting the fourth gear. Do you know if you could graduate and avoid friction from where you made the video?
Hi, yes these gearboxes have a real issue with the bushes and clips on the gear selectors. It may be the case that the bushes are worn and not pushing the selector arms for fourth gear far enough to engage smoothly.
Hello, thanks for answering. I see that there are three selectors, and according to your experience, which would be the selector of the fourth gear. The center, left or right?
Well, it was a few years ago now, but if I recall the centre one is for the 3rd & 4th gear. The front one is for 5th & rev and the rear one for 1st & 2nd….. I think but as I say it was a while ago. Best thing to do is to run through each gear and take a photo of each position to confirm.
@@Antonia.Bradley OK thanks, I'll look at the casings. I have observed that there are black and white ones. Another question if you don't mind. My van does not have power steering and the steering is very hard and loose. Do you know if you can put power steering 8or smooth driving?
Good video and helpful for all T1 drivers as the process is the same .

Hi can you tell me where to get the geometry for the Circlip end of the push rod arm ? As mine has come out cheers
I’m sorry I don’t know, maybe from a main dealer.
Hi, where did you get the new bush and clips?
Hi, there is a ebay link in the video description :)
Maybe I'm looking at the wrong site, but i put the link in to ebay and they're saying they wont fit my model ? 1990 208d
Hi, the only thing I can suggest then is to order them through the main dealership, sorry.
Hello, Are the caps and clips the ones in the link?

What are the bushes called for the circlip end ?
