  • In the 2nd episode of the 1940 Farmall H with M&W 9 speed series, I went deeper into getting the tractor ready to work and earn its keep on the farm. I envisioned the 9 speed to be a great asset for getting work done quicker than the regular 1947 H featured in the last video, and it has proven correct!

    Small world. I have actually been to your farm before probably about 8 years ago now to work on an IH utility tractor. I worked for the local dealership and was called out to diagnose the starter if I recall. Then the tractor came in later to the shop to have the radiator removed and sent off to be patched and reinstalled.

      @@slowride55 How cool. That was a 606 utility. I sent it down the road to a new owner since I had no real use for it. Thanks for sharing

    Surprised some know it all haven't made some smart remarks, but you are smart and can keep this jewel running on a minimum of new parts , some one could of put in use engine oil , me I have ford ranger alternators on my tractors wired up voltage regulator and parts house always has parts and least expensive.

    Nice video you do good work and your Welding is fine, I remember us having I think four H Internationals some very early ones and we ran a wd6 with an M&W transmission kit, made a big difference, I loved that tractor

    The axle seals are probably leaking because the bearings are rooted

    • @greengoldacres
      @greengoldacres  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ive been thinking about that too. Im considering opening the transmission this winter to reseal everything, but also check the main axle bearings. Additionally, it would make more content for the channel

    Did switching to 85-140 gear oil, stop the axels from leaking or slow it down? New subscriber from ECMN.

    I thought living on a small farm you would have spent some time practicing your welding techniques, That exactly what I did on the farm, Used every bit of spare time from a extremely young age to be a decent welder / fabricator. 🇬🇧🇮🇪.

    ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️I didn’t hear your torque wrench click on the last few bolts ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
    Next time you burn through the metal you’re welding just take a welding rod clean all the flux off and stick it in the hole and then lay a pass around it until you can run a beed over it and then it’s not such a frustrating situation 😀🇨🇦

      The oil was really thin and didn't smell of gear oil. I imagine a previous owner put in improper fluids.

      @@greengoldacres my guess is it's the original 80/90 from the factory 😀 yes it does wear out in 60 years or better.
