I have the 2022 Y LR and recently installed luxury shocks (just the shocks) from Unplugged Performance and it does improve the ride quality. Happy I did that.

My 2023 MYP, purchased in August 2023, came with comfort suspension. I did a test drive on an MYP before purchasing to see how harsh the suspension was, and I was surprised to find it to be sporty-but-reasonable. I just went on a road trip (Phoenix to San Diego), and my only complaint was how poorly the wipers worked. I also think the car should be quieter, and the majority of the noise was coming from the tires.

    • @BigMeanyVids
      @BigMeanyVids 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah, my co-worker as older MYP and it's too harsh for me. I just got very late 2023 MYLR so has comfort suspension and 19" tires and soo much better of a ride.

if you have to replace shocks at time of purchase to get a nice ride, that’s an epic fail. Maybe I’m wrong but always found major after market accessories like shocks are maintenance headaches from the sense you need a reliable mechanic you can trust.

Yes for gjeebs it totally makes sense to replace his shocks. 😂 but for 99% of buyers, they are staying stock bc they are just fine…12:54…and have been improved tremendously over the years. So to the original poster, no need to replace the shocks on delivery.

I own a 2023 Model Y LR on 20” rims and it was built in Austin. I rented from Hertz a 2022 same exact spec. There was a noticeable difference in the suspension and sound deadening. It wasn’t just a matter of softness either, it just felt better tuned and isolated from NVH. I also thought the seats were better in 2023. I’m convinced they changed the padding.

We have a 2021 LR and Feb 23 LR. The 23 has different damper part numbers and is "softer" on big hits but is way busier pretty much all the time as a result. I started a large thread on TMC on it "Comfort Suspension Not Much of an Improvement". The suspension remains a big problem for us and is the reason we're actually considering ditching them.

When I test drove the 2024 long range 19 inch vs 20 inch wheels the cars with perilli on 19s were the stiffest ride. The 20 inch wheels with Bridgestones were way softer riding. The performance cars were softer riding also compared to the 19 inch wheels with perillis.

Hertz bought their Tesla when there was extremely high demand and paid high prices for them. So when Tesla lowered the prices on their car Hertz lost big on resale values. Hertz made another bad business decision by demanding returning cars to charge up to 85% SOC, making it difficult for travelers especially business ones hurrying to catch their flights. Inspire of all the media bias, high interest rates and bad PR, Tesla still managed to sell 25% more cars in 2023 than 2022. One last point, ex-Hertz Tesla all are very high mileage cars and ex rentals so they're priced as such.

Super valuable content. Keep posting about suspension comfort as it’s a huge issue with MY owners, even if you are on super smooth blacktop in PHX. My fantasy is you drive a pre-suspension change MYLR in the Midwest with freaking horrible roads, seams galore, broken concrete, unevenness - I swear to god my back is in shambles because of my car. Gjeebs to the rescue, or at least I thought. Upgraded my suspension set up to the Unplugged Luxury - minimal improvement at 6 clicks… reduced to 3 little better… reduced to 0… better but now tippy, forward back/left to right, still incredibly jarring. Now I see UP has a new budget lux set up, (dual rate springs). Really need to know if this is better than the previous Luxury as current as $4000 later I have 0 satisfaction with my current UP performance lux set up. Go Cyclones!

Fair enough. I just have videos and no hands on experience. I will continue looking and learning. Please continue reviewing and I would like to see a comparison to a similar priced vehicle as a Tesla, that isn’t as technologically advanced. The driver interaction with the interior, exterior, paint, etc… is a very important part, in my mind. I have no doubt the Tesla is way above the competition with the powertrain. Ford just slapped an F150 on their powertrain and that made sense, initially. Ford sold a lot of Lightnings because it was ‘just’ and electrified F-150. Now the electrical side is slowing down sales.
I am hoping for a reasonable priced Tesla power train, Ford, Chevy etc…, interior, build quality vehicle.

This is a perfect example of how an irrational narrative created by polarization can capture people throughout the spectrum. These build quality anomalies people focus on with Tesla are present in the vast majority of auto manufacturers. It's true that Tesla was outside industry standards in their infancy, but that's also the norm. Hyundai was a total crap show for the first decade or so.

“Plastic in production but metal on replacement.” Definition of arrogance and short sighted cost cutting. I am sorry, but there are still too many basic quality defects. No thank you.

Largest rental car company in this country is dumping their EV fleet. As I have been stating EV’s are for the 1% of the population that are smart, have money, live in a warm year round part of the country, own their house with a level 2 charger. The other 99% hybrids are the answer.

Hybrids are indeed the answer for many. Folks need to consider their use case(s).

Teslas starts off at less than the average new car in America and over 60 percent of Americans own a home. EVs make the majority of all cars says in Norway which often time has freezing temperatures just say that you don't like to change and move on.

Son. I own three EV’s in the US. Don’t preach to me. I love mine but I am 1% where I drive a total of 6 miles per day. And I charge in my garage every night. And average yearly temp where I live is around 70. 1%. I can tell you factually when I spent a few days in cold temps 40’s. I lost 70 mile range at my normal 100% charge. Cold weather speeds up charging but drastically drops range. High temps 110 plus drastically increases charging time but have excellent range. Ionic 6 AWD LIMITED, Kia ev6 GT, Kia Niro wave.

@@uutube243 I can't speak on the non teslas and how they handle cold temperatures however if instead of 300 miles I get 150 in cold weather why would that matter to me on a daily basis? I never drive more then 150 miles in a day so it doesn't affect me.. It becomes a mood point. I just took a road trip in the winter and it added 1 extra stop to my 500 mile trip. Making it 3 stops total 8 hour driving time 1 1/3 charging. It's a non issue.
