Great video. I'm a new Tesla Model Y owner. Everything you said here is spot on. One thing we also have to take into consideration when driving is the speed you're traveling per hour. So within 1 hour basically you go 55mph, 65mph, 75mph and maybe on some highways a little faster. I say this because generally you will want to or need to stop for bathroom breaks, stretch your legs and/or get something to eat typically within an hour or so of driving. So even if you were getting 200 to 330 miles per charge your bladder won't allow you to go that distance without a break of some sort. People driving gas cars experience this which is why rest stops are along most highways and there's always signs for places to eat etc. This is compounded if one or more people are traveling with you as well...such as children, someone who's pregnant and even elderly folks. Also when you have your pet(s) with you. You may need to take more frequent stops. This is why Tesla and other EV owners just plan all these types of stops and charge at the same time. On some of these stops you can spend as little as 10 minutes or as much as 20 to 30 minutes depending on various factors so why not be charging at the same time. My answer to the people talking about the environment and al that....In reality none of that even matters to them. It's nothing more than a talking point. These are the same types of people who drive a gas car and totally unaware what it takes to get oil from the ground, what it takes to process it, how much electricity a refinery uses, the fact that they use cobalt to refine oil and what it takes to move and transport that gas across the country. These are also the same people who don't have a care in the world when the hop on gas guzzling planes to fly across the country or the world nor do they have a care in the world when they're waiting on that diesel burning bus to get them to their destination. Most don't care when they're hailing a cab or scheduling an Uber to get them to their destination. Their argument is all ways to justify their bias and they have no problem moving the goal post to satisfy their ego.
Very true. Just hired a Y for new year weekend here in Victoria Australia on our version of Turo(which just opened here too but had a discount 😛) It was great and very much with kids need to stop every 2-3 hours, which is about same space most DC chargers go figure 😛. It was so fast in hindsight. I got it around 40ish % and by time walked in and ordered food and peed, I had to move car before food was ready as was almost 100%(rwd LFP battery). So yeah it’s no drama charging now if dc fast charge/supercharger on the route.
I agree with this excellent comment. I would only add that even if Tesla road-tripping appears less optimal than gas vehicles, in local day-to-day driving (which is mostly what we do!) the convenience of home charging and the merits of driving an EV more than compensate for the necessary behavior modifications for road-tripping.
Really appreciate your explanation here. As a Model 3 owner in the Midwest I enjoy talking with people about EVs. The real, honest, and personal interaction you mentioned is exactly what we need more of!
It's not just the EV that's so efficient. Burning any kind of fuel in a power plant will be much more efficient that burning fuel in a car engine because of temperature. A power plant can run at much, much higher temperature than a car engine, and is therefore able to reach a much higher level of efficiency. For anyone who doubts this, look up Carnot heat engine on wikipedia. This sets the upper limit of efficiency for any heat engine. (And yes, I am an engineer and I learned this stuff when I took a class in thermodynamics in engineering school, not from something I read on the web.)
I have owned a Model Y for two years and have heard most of the same negative comments from people. What I've noticed about them is they don't care what I drive. They're really just complaining that the government is telling them what kind of car they will have to drive.
TH-camr *totally destroys* strangers with calm, thoughtful, and polite answers during normal conversation! Great videos and I love it when people are good to each other, fortunately most people are. :)
You’re literally the most real and transparent tesla owner making videos with a splash of humor👍🏼. I think it’s so funny how politicized having an EV is. It’s hilarious how I get out into a box for having a Tesla at the shooting range lol. The head pops off both sides shoulders.
Hey ,I’m a Brazilian and leaving in Massachusetts, I really enjoy your videos , you and some others channel help me with my decision to buy my MYP . Keep with the great work!
I tend to think videos like that are setups, i think a lot on tik tok are. It's nice to see this and I agree with you that is disappointing that people are surprised to see a polite discussion break out in public.
Great video addressing the points in the comments! I also own a gas vehicle and a Tesla, and there's pros and cons, but it's about educating so people can make the right decision for their situation/needs/wants
I was wonder when you’d glance at that dude walking near the car lol Saw that video take OFF. Told my brother ohhh sh*t Gjeebs is going viral! Great video Ben! Happy New Year! Congrats on the channel’s growth!
Don’t usually comment since I watch TH-cam on my Apple TV, but this one was too good. From talking about Fromm, to how much different people are IRL as compared to online. Refreshing to see real talk as compared to all the hype we are normally fed online. Keep it up man. 👍🏻👍🏻
Expressions on your dog were priceless. Great video, and I just started subscribing to you over the past month and love your videos. Love your real world, cleaning the car videos and your real world approach period😁
Fantastic Video Ben had the same conversations when I tell people I'm buying a Tesla. I test drove 3 teslas and other Ev's and as soon I tell my co-workers I get all those issues.
Happy New Year Ben, excellent video! In 2020, I traded my 2011 BMW M3 in for a 2016 Model S P100D. Although I loved my manual M3 boy racer car, I wanted upgraded electronics in my BMW, which was near impossible to do. Now, my Tesla was in need of the $2000 chip upgrade for the Model S as well as get my SiriusXM back, but I was able to do it and keep my car stock. Also, for my first year of ownership, I used my Tesla connector to charge via 110V, very slow, but I don’t put a lot of miles on my car anyway. Once I found out about rebates from my electricity provider, I upgraded to 220v. To me, 220v takes away any angst of at home charging, especially at 10 cents a kWh. Tesla superchargers and navigation make road trips a breeze and force me to stop and not try to, “just power through” a road trip. Fine when alone, but female passengers like to stop every couple of hours anyway for health and comfort.
As someone that lives in Pittsburgh. Why was your trip to Pittsburgh? I just bought a model y last week. Absolutely love it. Haven’t enjoyed driving in a long time and it brought that back like I was 16 again.
There’s definitely still a lot of education that needs to happen when it comes to EVs, which is understandable with new technology. I just wish people would bother to research and ask questions instead of just jumping to conclusions. Thanks for helping fight the misinformation.
Gjeebs... you don't need to explain yourself to all those Tesla haters. I have a 2021 Tesla Model Y, love my Tesla. As a Model YLR owner, (retired in Central Mexico), I enjoy talking with people about EVs. There are many Tesla owners here in Mexico. Keep up the great work on your posting. You're doing an amazing job informing us Tesla owners of the latest information. Cheers!!!
This was one of your best, Gjeebs! Regarding cost of Tesla, relative to gas vehicles: most new Tesla buyers are not trying to decide between Corolla and MY- they’d likely be shopping for something north of $50k anyway. Plus, the greatest expense in owning any vehicle is usually depreciation (it can actually cost you less $$ to own a higher-priced vehicle, if it holds its value more). Also: we traded an average monthly gasoline bill of $620 for $150/mo electricity, when we switched to Tesla! (no, we weren’t driving 30mpg 4cyl cars- it was premium gas-swilling BMWs, one with twin-turbo V8). BTW, we couldn’t care less about our carbon footprint- we prefer electric cars on their other merits alone.
Great video as always. Still holding out for a GJEEBS / BTG crossover episode. Think that misunderstanding went viral too. I can personally speak to Tesla being the better charging network. We have owned 2 model Ys, Nissan leaf, and VW ID4. Sold our ID4 for a model 3. Never a charging issue ever with Tesla but a few issues with EA.
Happy new year! 🎉 I drove my Ioniq 5 cross country in November and had so many positive interactions with people stopping to ask questions with genuine interest. Similar to the farmer guy.
Awesome videos. I love the fact that #1 …. Your a lefty @ golf, as am I (great channel btw) and #2 you endorse and support ICE and electric. I too have a MYR and love it!! Keep it up!
Love all your videos! So informative and entertaining! Became a subscriber before my Red MYP arrived in July, as a gift from my hubby. Driving experience x 40 years (20 years with manual transmission & 20 years with full size SUVs-Escalade & Suburban). Don’t miss the gas powered vehicles, especially when I would pump every other day paying $70.00 each time, since work commute is at least 100 miles a day without traffic. Have not pumped gas since July. Tesla is not for all. But, it’s for me! Thank you so much for sharing 😊
I much rather have a full charged Tesla every morning than having to go to dirty gas stations to fill up all the time. And for those long road trips I might take like once a year at most .. I’d still prefer charging for a half hour once or twice than 5 or 10 min fill ups once or twice at dirty gas stations.
Comments regarding EV's on-point as usual. I got a kick out watching your dog's facial expressions and eye rolling as if he were saying enough already we have much better things we could be doing. 😀
Another great video. Taking a road trip in march from Texas to Orlando, those chargers would be nice so my daughters can charge their devices. Keep up the great videos.
Some of the Sunny Boy inverters have what's called a Secure Power Supply which you could use to charge your car when the sun is shining. No battery needed!
I live in FL, and took delivery of my 2022 Model Y Long Range in September. Hurricane Ian hit FL a few weeks later. Gas was rationed. The gas stationed had a 90 minutes to 2 hrs wait if they even had gas, and the gas rationing lasted for at least 3 weeks. My community and large parts of the town were without electricity for at least 10 days until disaster recovery teams could start restoring power to the grid. Since gas was rationed, we used my ICE vehicle very very sparingly as we didn't know if we'd run out of gas, and when gas would be available again. Since I didn't have electricity at the house, we couldn't recharge my Tesla at home. However, through Hurricane Ian and the entire time after the hurricane, the Tesla SuperCharger remained open and functional. Prior to the hurricane, we topped off our gas tank, and we charged the Tesla to 100% not knowing when the power would go out. Once the power went out, we camped in our Tesla via Camp Mode which allows all the electronics and air conditioner to stay connected until the battery drops to 20%. We ran AC in the Tesla 24/7, watched the news and weather directly to the car via Tesla premium connectivity, and streamed Netflix, HULU, and Disney+. Our neighbors recharged all of their mobile devices, tablets, and laptops through our car so we could all stay connected. The Tesla was a life saver during Hurricane Ian!
Great video! I'm hoping to get a Tesla Model Y in the next couple years so I'm reallly enjoying your insights :) my only comment would be to the person who asked if you have to put gas into your EV when it runs out of electricity, perhaps they were thinking of plug-in hybrids?
Very good video.....almost all the points you mentioned in the video I have had to deal with explaining. I think if I just refer people to this video, I think alot of people will start to see where they went wrong. Then they will most likely end up more informed and want to buy them lol. you are doing great with the videos!!!!!
Great video Gjeebs!!! I experience these same interactions almost on a daily in NC with the same questions/comments usually by grossly misinformed individuals who are almost always enlightened by the time I get done trying to answer the questions. I just try to be very kind and patient even though most have never done a lick of real research but are still out in the streets spreading the narrative. I am not a Tesla evangelist by any means but I am a technologist and really just wanted to experience it for myself to see if owning the Tesla was actually feasible. Thanks to this amazing channel and among others it really helped me truly understand the real deal of the experience and the technology. Very similar I just love vehicles and feel my two Tesla MY’s help balance out my F350 Diesel carbon footprint. I always try to explain its a different approach to driving and not all EV’s are the equal. Tesla’s although may not be the “best” in terms of features or maybe even quality but they do have the strongest charging network which is “usually” the key to a bad/good EV experience. Thanks for all you do Gjeebs and Happy New Year!
@@JPatel1995 I can say from my experience the quality has been top notch with some little issues here and there on the three Tesla's I have own/owned. Just from what I see others experience with Tesla some might say the quality control isn't great.
Happy New Year - love ur vids, have learned so much. Keep it coming!🎉🎉🎉 - and as others have said haters gotta hate, they must be jealous of your game/success
I’m subscribed and I just have to say your videos are hilarious and I’m a huge fan of tesla but also combustion cars haha but I would love to win that charger mention in your video, keep up the amazing work!!
The cables are nice, kind of expensive. I agree the people interaction is good and lots of people ask about my Tesla. That is the same thing I did before I purchased one. Good video and spot on about the car, charging, etc. I like the buy whatever car you want, EVE or ICE, so true I own both.
the other fud piece that gets me is when someone points at 2 temporary diesel generators running super chargers while awaiting transformers to be installed.
I'll never understand the EV haters, people at work try to give me grief all the time and I have to just shrug it off. I'm one of the lucky ones that gets to charge at work for free, so they get a little tight when I explain total operating cost for my Tesla since AUG 21' has been $160 ( Charging & Maint.). I love the channel and the sense of humor, keep up the good work!
Hey Ben. Serious question: do you think your luggage racks had any influence on your roof cracking? The wife really wants them, but having seen how they are installed and now seeing your roof crack, do you feel there is any correlation? Thanks and keep up the good work. On your way to a million, baby!
Hi Gjeebs, I always enjoy your videos as they are down to earth and the truth, (now I am not blowing smoke up ur ****, just saying how I find and enjoy your videos). Thanks again and keep up the gr8 work. PS I will be receiving my Hyundai Kona EV 64kwh this month. :)
Damn i wouldn’t say i hated the video, but the short popped up on my homepage, thought it was interesting but had a feeling you were a tesla/elon fanboy but not enough to even hate or dislike the video. watched this because i was curious what people would be hating on , and after watching, i stand corrected. you seem like a smart dude and subbed for more !
Your Trump impression when you said "clean cole okay?" Hilarious... Although, when you talk about the time it takes to re-charge, you say that people will charge 'at home', many people are 'renters'... But even then, 'productive' people will find a way to be productive during a 15/20 min. stop/charge... such as answer/send emails/texts on your phone to clients/co-workers... make/answer calls to clients/co-workers... And/or use it to clean the inside/outside of your car. Anyway... Good video. 'I' enjoyed the content... my wife just wanted to see the cute pup... thanks for giving the pup more screentime in the 2nd half of the video... that kept my wife hooked. Keep up the good work... 👍
Here is the short: th-cam.com/users/shortshgzh1AtAa0E?feature=share
i wanna see the uncut 10min convo
Wow--metric shite ton of basement dwellers around here apparently.
Get out of the house kids, experience reality.
It's funny that you had to make this video explaining such a harmless and good natured video. Smh. Haters gonna hate. Keep up the good work!
this. idk why people would comment if they didn't like the video or hated it, just move on..
Haters are a joke 😂

Great comment!
I agree with this excellent comment. Your dog is super chill and looking at you like, "what the heck are you doing, can we move along please?"
Really appreciate your explanation here. As a Model 3 owner in the Midwest I enjoy talking with people about EVs. The real, honest, and personal interaction you mentioned is exactly what we need more of!

I’d watch Gjeebs freestyle all day. Content is great, but I’m mostly here for the humor.
Same! This video kinda reminds me of the old Rich Rebuilds rant videos…funny! 👍
Ya I love Gjeebs and his humor!
It was a nice way to end 2022. Thanks Ben. Love that you included that human interaction.
That 1st camera swap was hilarious & made my day, 😂 I love the camera-play ode to school/infomercial video(s). Thanks for keeping your content light.
I have owned a Model Y for two years and have heard most of the same negative comments from people. What I've noticed about them is they don't care what I drive. They're really just complaining that the government is telling them what kind of car they will have to drive.
Never lose your sense of humor. Hard to communicate with haters. Love to try the charging cable. For android if possible. Thanks

love the videos Gjeebs, your the reason I got my Model Y 👍
Keep spreading knowledge, happiness, and angled cord connections
This cracked me up so you win one of the cords! send an email to rgbgfive@gmail.com
The guy outside on the speaker phone is hilarious 😂
Way to be transparent and real. Appreciate your videos. Thanks Gjeebs!
Some people simply don’t want to face facts that are right in front of them.
Happy New Year! WOW over 100K subscribers, you went from 50 to 100 in no time. Well done!
Hey ,I’m a Brazilian and leaving in Massachusetts, I really enjoy your videos , you and some others channel help me with my decision to buy my MYP .
Keep with the great work!
Very good point about how you can charge it off grid
I really liked that short! What a great interaction. I always really enjoy your content. Keep up the great work!

Great video Ben! Happy New Year! Congrats on the channel’s growth!
Great video. Very unbiased information. Great job! It’s refreshing to see information that is real and understandable.

Happy New Year Ben, excellent video! In 2020, I traded my 2011 BMW M3 in for a 2016 Model S P100D. Good video. Like how you addressed the usual fud that gets brought up all the time when it comes to tesla's or EV's in general.
Happy New Year Gjeebs!

Great Video, I talk to lots of people that come up to me in rural areas when I travel between San Diego CA & Key West FL about my Model Y
The haters are just misinformed and need to be educated! Your videos are funny and informative. Keep up the great work!
Happy New Year to one of my top 5 youtube subscriptions!
Who knew the farmer interaction would be the most viral video. Loving my MYLR and looking to my first long road trip and using a supercharger.
Happy new year! 🎉 I drove my Ioniq 5 cross country in November and had so many positive interactions with people stopping to ask questions with genuine interest. Similar to the farmer guy.

Comments regarding EV's on-point as usual. I got a kick out watching your dog's facial expressions and eye rolling as if he were saying enough already we have much better things we could be doing. 😀
Are we going to see a new Tesla added to your family this year? Also would love to see more Turo videos! Congrats on 100k
Another great video. Taking a road trip in march from Texas to Orlando, those chargers would be nice so my daughters can charge their devices. Keep up the great videos.

I love your dog, just sitting there patiently! ❤😊❤
As always, great job man. You are really good at this.
Great video! I'm hoping to get a Tesla Model Y in the next couple years so I'm reallly enjoying your insights :) my only comment would be to the person who asked if you have to put gas into your EV when it runs out of electricity, perhaps they were thinking of plug-in hybrids?
Filling up at Costco here can be a 30 minute experience as they're significantly cheaper than anywhere else, hence a queue to the pumps is common.
Congrats on 100k man!
Very good video.....almost all the points you mentioned in the video I have had to deal with explaining. I think if I just refer people to this video, I think alot of people will start to see where they went wrong. Then they will most likely end up more informed and want to buy them lol. you are doing great with the videos!!!!!
Wow 100k plus subs! Congrats!
I would argue Tesla is way better quality than any other ev and it’s not even close.
Good stuff Gjeebs. Great work as always.
Your dog is very cute! stay humble!
I did a 1000 mile day a few months ago. Could not imagine doing that without FSD.
I’m subscribed and I just have to say your videos are hilarious and I’m a huge fan of tesla but also combustion cars haha but I would love to win that charger mention in your video, keep up the amazing work!!
You won! send an email to rgbgfive@gmail.com
Love the tesla videos here and the golf videos on your other channel
The cables are nice, kind of expensive. I agree the people interaction is good and lots of people ask about my Tesla. That is the same thing I did before I purchased one. Good video and spot on about the car, charging, etc. I like the buy whatever car you want, EVE or ICE, so true I own both.
Great explanatory video! I would love to win one those two cables. Thanks Gjeebs!
I used to warm up my V8 Chevy service truck for 20 or 30 minutes on a cold morning, major range loss and hassle.
Really appreciate your info
Great video!! Happy New Year !!
Keep your cameras rolling all the time for more wholesome content🥰 I'm getting some cameras to record possible reactions
the other fud piece that gets me is when someone points at 2 temporary diesel generators running super chargers while awaiting transformers to be installed.
Great video. thoroughly enjoyed
Lovin your vids. Informative and entertaining.
Great videos! I get questions like that all the time.
No the roof was cracked before them. We hit a rock
@@Gjeebs thanks man!
Bro I love your videos. You have helped me tremendously with my model S. I deal with haters daily lol. It is what it is. I love my tesla!!!
I just saw it as a fun short video. It’s a question you get all the time when owning a Tesla.
Love your dog..so dern cute. Love your videos and I am IN LOVE with my TESLA!
Appreciate it!
There’s a farmer’s daughter joke in here somewhere. 🤣 Good message on human interaction. 👍🏾
Good video. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Setting the record straight for the haters and the simply uneducated! Nice work
Your Trump impression when you said "clean cole okay?" Hilarious... 👍
