Finding The Best Barbecue in Los Angeles | Food Tours | Insider Food
New Food Tours LET'S GO! Also I am very excited for a potential Korean BBQ episode of Food Tours.
Next time!
The question is, what to get? Because there’s a lot of choices and options when it comes to the meats and sides 😅
Lies again? Red Mart USD SGD
Thanks for watching!
Get Harry some non-sweet cornbread to try, perhaps with pinto beans or chili. And hush puppies with fried catfish.
I'm actually glad that they specified that Korean BBQ would be it's own thing. American BBQ and Asian BBQ are so different
Yeah by American standards kbbq is more like korean grilling and not bbq
coz korean bbq would beat american bbq so easily
@@babigoreng8059that’s a horrible take.
@@babigoreng8059 I LOVE korean bbq but that's a WILD take. It's completely different. like NIGHT AND DAY different and you are comparing something super broad and diverse to something much more highly specialized but pretty uniform. Honestly not unlike comparing korean and american cultures as a whole now that I think about it.
@@babigoreng8059 no it wouldnt LOL. just because its foreign and 'exotic' doesn't make it better. Low and slow style is unbeatable. And no I'm not American, don't bother.
I'm a simple man. I see Harry and Joe on Food Tours, I click like
100% you need to do a Texas bbq tour guys 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
Shoutout to that guy at the end, hope his son was jealous 😂❤
Hi Barry
Love that interaction between you all. So wholesome!
Great episode guys but seriously dont do yourselves a diservice going to the effort of visiting theses places on a full stomach, split it over two days and dont force yourselves to taste the food.
Joe and Harry are the dynamic duo of all dynamic duos. Never separate them, they are perfect!
Agreed
Thanks for watching!
"Love the nuts, now we're trying the wood" please this is sending me why is no one talking about this??? 😭😭😭
I don't think he meant it that way 🤣🤣🤣
Whenever Harry says something about meat I lose it and Sausages haha.
24:50 😂
Cos we’re not 14? Lol.
@@redeye1016Shut up
this is the ffirst time I see Harry face look so defeated when they bring the food lol
it's really a lot but hopefully some of it goes to others in the crew after they film each portion. wonder if harry and joe pay for some of the cost to eat at the spots too.
Take a shot every time Joe says “fantastic”
I say this to my wife before every episode 😂
You'd be on a bender 🥴
Or “right” lol
this could legally qualify as attempted murder in some states careful
To Joe's comment about BBQ sauce, McDonald's sauce is supposed to taste like a BBQ, where as the sauces at these places are actual sauces that are meant to compliment the BBQ
Well said.
Yeah, whenever I hear British people talk about how brown sauce is so wildly different than barbecue sauce, I can't help but think they've only ever had Kraft. I've had both, and brown sauce/HP sauce definitely tastes like some bbq sauces I've had. Maybe a little more A1 to it, but definitely totally within the flavor profile of good barbecue sauces.
it is a key difference obviously the support sauce is better because it's helping the BBQ you have
instead of trying to taste like a BBQ
Please never stop doing food tours -- Love you guys
Thanks for watching!
There's soooooo many categories, they could do this for years. I'd like to see them get out of the big cities and into the regions and maybe other local countries.....Cornwall, Louisiana, central Wales, Cape Cod, Somerset, Quebec, Yorkshire dales, Dublin, Tennessee.....
Do Mexican food in London vs somewhere in the US. Put the uk to shame 😂
Joe: "I think we're gonna need a box"
Harry: "Yeah, for me :/"
You guys should absolutely do a series like this in Japan, meet up with the dude you did the food wars videos with, let him take you around to find the best dishes in Japan
Given the Japanese culture of always finishing your meal, I feel that they could have some issues doing this series over there, given that they always leave most of the food behind just because they consume so much. I mean, they could still do it over several days and it would be just as good on video.
@@MrScoot27 ah, I didn't k ow that was a thing. I guess you're right, unless they had smaller portions maybe?
@@BILLIB1993 There are definitely ways to make it happen, if they really wanted to. Not sure any restaurant would want to go on video with deliberately smaller portions, though.
Harry's reaction on the food's arrival at the last place 😆😆😆😆
Guys, we really don't mind if you did this over two days lol
😂
I wish Joe shared this level of enthusiasm when Harry show him around. 😮
15:31 You okay? I am - y'all love each other and it's adorable.
Harry and Joe are a great couple.may there love last ❤❤
It's a shame that being in Southern California they didn't try California's native Barbecue cuisine: Santa Maria style BBQ. I grew up on Santa Maria style BBQ tri-tip. A real lost opportunity!
I was just about to make this same comment. How can anyone do California BBQ and not do Santa Maria Tri-tip, which is iconically and uniquely Californian?🤔
Gutted me. We do it a bit different in central California, dry rub seems more common, but tri tip in general is a great little cut to work with.
Came here for this. As a Californian... gimme that tri tip!
@@saberswordsmen1 I grew up in the Central Valley, we always did a dry rub too. Cooked over oak coals. We always served with pinquito beans, rice pilaf, grilled vegetables, salad, and grilled bread
@@saberswordsmen1 I have a hard time finding tri-tip cuts now that I live in the Pacific Northwest. I only see them during summer holidays.
Harry and Joe are the best duo hands down.
Re: Carolina sauces. Any yellow sauce is South Carolina - mustard based. North Carolina is a dark sauce using vinegar and brown sugar.
Eastern NC is vinegar, brown sugar or molasses, and usually some pepper flake. Western NC is the same adding tomato paste/sauce typically. And yeah SC is usually eastern style NC adding mustard. Heard a theory that most BBQ sauces are eastern NC and keep adding more things the farther you move away.
They have to do the best bbq in a city in Texas now.
🤔
Grew up 18 years in LA... live in central Texas now... when they said they cook the brisket 5 hours... 5 hours in for ribs and like chicken. Brisket is low and slow and like 12 14 hours. Bbq should be done in 1. TX 2. KC and 3 Carolinas. acceptable alternatives are Alabama White and Memphis
Texas bbq is good but overrated. There are better regions for bbq.
@kebeightyfour5717 idk bout that. each region has its specialty. Dino ribs sausage and brisket to texas. pulled pork for NC and ribs are kc and memphis
@@LifePhantom you made my point for me. So many people automatically say Texas bbq is best as a blanket statement. That's just not the case.
Brisket as a meat cut is usually in stews and soups in the uk as it requires long slow cooking . Smokers are unusual in the uk.
i'm so glad that KBBQ got mentioned as a separate category from american style bbq. loved watching harry try new things, and always love watching these two enjoying the food of each other's cultures.
The first place "Slab" just closed two of their three stores, including the one they were at.
Looked tasty but well overpriced, same price as Moo's which had a massive portion and higher quality
Maybe because they only cook their brisket for 5 hours.
*smoke
81$ for half pound of ribs with bone in it,and half pound of brisket with 3 medium side?!
they should close all of the and put them in jail for stealing money😁
Not a good time for restaurants at the moment.
Mann that last part was absolutely beautiful and wholesome I love these two guys this is a great pairing and they do hell of a job doing these shows. I hope they never break up. Cheers thank for all the entertainment and joys and all that other stuff guys
First time to see Harry being overwhelmed by the food, I'm impressed.
Thank God Joe is back to having some drinks w the meals. He becomes better as the day goes along
This should be a 5 part video. BBQ in the USA is region specific
Has Harry been hiding under a rock? American style BBQ is pretty popular in the UK, lot of people have smokers in their back garden/yard. Also in London, check out a restaurant such as Bodeans, great BBQ, they've been doing it for years.
Never ever stop this series you two!
Great video. Too bad they didn't go to a place featuring Santa Maria Style BBQ which is California's own style of BBQ and is fantastic.
Tri-tip!!!
Which isn’t even top 5 in the country 🤔
I’m from uk and I can’t believe Harry hasn’t had proper bbq food or brisket there’s so many scattered about !
The cornbread goes with the greens. Mix it in with the greens, add hot sauce to your taste, and then enjoy.
They never even tried the greens! Killed me since collard greens are a fave of mine to cook and have been unobtainium since the local producer in Western Canada closed during Covid. Nobody brings them in any longer
Oh, BI, thank you for giving Joe and Harry to the world! They're entertainment gold....comforting, funny but not shouty (as so many TV foodie journalists are).
This series is truly magical, thank you!!
YES!!! The episode I’ve been waiting for!! I’m glad Harry is getting that first time experience with BBQs 🤩🤩
Thanks for watching!
12:01 the in sync laugh, those cuties 🥰
They're merging into a singular British-American superhuman.
I know you guys compare UK food with US food, but honestly I’d love to see you guys travel other countries and see how you both experience the food native to the country being visited according to Harry’s UK flavour palette & Joe’s US flavour palette and compare 🤭 I do have a couple suggestions in mind 🙈
Oh lordie!!!! Number 3 looks amazing!!! Not finished yet, but deffo my favourite
I love this dynamic between this duo.
Field researcher meets with expert.
OMG harry, bbq will never be the same again
I always look forward to the Food Tours series!!! I wanna go to Los Angeles! 😍
Why dont they film over 2 day's? 😂😂
lol right?
At the end of the day they have to pour big loads of 💩
Everyone of those places look phenomenal
I could watch Food Tours all day!!! :D
There are two pretty standard ways of saying Pecan
Joe: hold my beer. 'With our forces combined...'
As a Brit I'll be the first to concede that American BBQs are a level above British BBQs. British food generally is underrated but the average BBQ here is below par. Hoping to see some Mexican food coming up on this LA tour!
All I need is Harry and Joe on Food Tours, and Big Batches.
I shall now have to visit each and every one of these places whenever I’m in L.A.! Great video as always and fantastic culinary analysis 👍.
As a brit living in the US, I initially didn't much like cornbread- too dry and crumbly. But what it goes amazingly well with on that plate isn't the meat, its the collard greens. Love collard greens. I think a vegetable boiled for that long with ham appeals to the British palate lol.
I'm in LA and have only tried Gus's. So glad to have seen this and check out more BBQ places!
There is some genuinely good barbecue in the UK. But it is much harder to find. It's growing in popularity, but I wouldn't say it has caught on.
I know many people here that are suspicious of it, having grown up with sickly bottled barbecue sauce as a condiment and think that is what it is. Additionally, many of the places that do make it are either chains, which are usually ok but not exactly groundbreaking, or "trendy" places that have an air of the hipster about them. Either way, they are usually expensive for what you get.
The Great British Barbie is improving though. The days of cremated burgers and charcoal sausages are by no means over, but the market is slowly changing and the foodie BBQ market is growing.
I've had BBQ at a couple of places in the UK and it hasn't blown my mind. There's something about the random assembly of a large amount of ingredients that doesn't really do it for me. Like who needs ribs, brisket, sausage, burnt ends, with fries, slaw etc? It's all a bit much. That said, maybe it works better with the real deal?
You two are just great. Nice UK/USA play off but always with respect. Thanks.
Harry's absolutely correct time is the currency of BBQ. Low and Slow as my Grandpa used to say. We'd smoke Turkey, Ribs, and Brisket every Thanksgiving growing up. That was a great spread with all the usual sides.
Love this content man
Another great episode guys... keep em coming 😉🥰🇬🇧 The guy at the end... amazing ❤
so cute at the end hahahaa
My favorite series on this channel!
There are other series on this channel?
Korean BBQ would be nice, but I would love to see Harry meet LA's great sandwich - The French Dip!
I love food tours, you guys are the best pair for my favorite show on TH-cam ❤
Thanks for watching!
Korean Englishman/Jollly recently reviewed a London, American style BBQ joint. Maybe there is hope for you back home, after all.
Bludso's rules. I was a little disappointed with the amount of brisket that comes on the $200 plate. But it was still more than enough food for 6 people, we even had a big box of leftovers. And every single dish you get hits so hard. The beans, the greens, the smoked sausage. All so good.
Try their pickles.
Yes, yes best series - keep it going.
Great video as always
I guess doing bbq in LA is the equivalent of them doing fish & chips in London
I hope food tours never ends!!
very wholesome ending
Really appreciate that behind baseball slippage that the crew gets to partake on the order.
love that outro!
Thank you for supporting local businesses in different US cities
always good to see texas bbq being taken to other parts of the country and the world
I am waiting for Joe to say to Harry, "Just shut up and eat the food" haha 😂 during these episodes...
I love these guys and bbq. ❤🫶
its 3 am and now im hungry, Thankyou very much.
I would love to see the two of you travelling round the world and try amazing places to eat ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Going to LA in a few months, definitely checking some of these places out.
Am sure its better in the USA but how has Joe avoided the thousands of BBQ restaurants that have opened in the UK over the last 15 years. And brisket is a common cut for roast beef.
You both are the best and make a great couple of food critics
Awesome show guys. Keep it up
Kind of a blanket statement about best barbecue. There's a ton of variety throughout the US and the world as a whole. They're all different.
Our British homeboy looks overwhelmed! 😂
CREDITS. SO WHOLESOME ♥
You need to check out Santa Maria style BBQ.
Shout out to long john silvers for their hush puppies and fried chicken planks!
Somewhat shocked at the price tag at the first place. Seems far higher than you'd get in other major HCL US cities for similar.
Arthur Treacher’s had amazing hush puppies! Corn bread with pulled pork or chicken are my favorites! Not a huge beef BBQ person, but I do love it. Just choose pork or chicken 90% of the time
We are huge huge Bludso fans in our family and friends circle. The other bbq place you guys should try is APL - Adam Perry Lang is also an amazing KING of bbq - definitely put him on your list to check out!!!!
So good, would definitely need to check it out!!! Would love to see you do a Korean BBQ tour of LA!!!!
For me these guys are better then anything the food network is doing these days. Love them.😊
Food Tours WOOOO
You guys need to do this for texas and chicago, it would be great!
Harry really looked like he wasn’t going to make it at the last place lol. Great episode
when I think of barbecue I do not think of LA but I learned something today
Would love to see food tours to give New Orleans a visit.
I felt full myself when they brought out that last round of dishes. For ribs alone I’d go with Bludso’s hands down.
There are places all over London that do great Brisket. How has Harry not found any of them yet? 🙈
usually a disposable barbecue in the UK
need to get one soon
💯
Food is amazing
O my.... I am so hungry now...But in the Netherlands we don't have these amazing restaurants. Great video love it. Thanks👍
Least favorite is slabs… expensive and you get less out of the other ones. Moo’s looks fantastic!
Only 5 hours on the Brisket? What is it, the size of a chicken wing?
Bless your appropriating LA heart
