The apartment, her fashion, the city, dance hall, cool crowd and group of friends, the dance style and the real tenderness and passion shown subtly between her and her partner. C’est magnifique! The great Northen Soul dance moves, it's their own thing and magnificent it is! Roisin Murphy learnt a pretty well-executed version in this film clip, and the great actor Paddy Considine made himself look like a natural (which he probably already was). The whole clip is a great testament to the north, a place you can't help but love, both for its people and their customs. The way they dance is not dissimilar to the 'Melbourne Shuffle' which is no doubt inspired by the northern UK version, but slightly different. It's an absolute joy to watch, and something the northerners can completely claim is their own. I hope, despite music globalism, it continues as an art-form all of its own, a reminder of a simpler, less globalized age.
