Hello. What is the correct length of the shaft assembly? Mg tires rubbing when turning left. I replaced the hub, just as you did. The cv joint came apart, replaced the whole cv joint shaft assembly. Reassembled, and now it rubs turning left.
19mm should be smaller than 3/4”, but obviously the tolerance on yours shows. I actually ended up trying an 18mm and then a IRWIN socket, then out with the angle grinder for the four bolts.
we did ue a bearing puller to push it out, as it had been in there for a long time and created a seal with rust/debris etc if new it slides in and out easily just be careful not to damage the splines you can apply a little oil/grease when refitting.
In this situation something like this may help: www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-bolt-nut-remover-set-6-pcs/6083d - bang it on then use a breaker bar to crack it, after replace the bolt with a new one hope that helps we have had many problems like this ourselves.
you can also try cleaning it up with a wire brush, shocking it with a hammer, penetrating oil and finally heat. for some bolts I have use visegrips (curved jaw locking pilers, a quality brand not rolson) but only as a last resort but they do work.
This was a god send of a video thanks guys everything explained clearly with list of tools used. Great job
Thanks, that's what we were aiming for to include as much detail as possible to make these jobs easier as they can be difficult enough.
Thanks Gents. I’ll be tackling this on my LR D2 when my hubs arrive in a week or so. Good video.
About to tackle this job. Thanks for the detailed video!
Great video guys thankyou
thanks, hope it helped.

Is that a clarke impact wrench. Where did you find the torque settings
It is, and 490Nm for hub nut workshop-manuals.com/landrover/discovery-ii/torque_wrench_settings/axles/
Does the drive shaft come out all the time or is it possible to keep it in place.did you use a bearing puller Tia

I took the half shaft out to clean it. I'm having problems reinserting it. It goes in so far but I don't think the splines are lining up inside.
we had the same problem, so just took it out and carefully tried again eventually it went in properly.
@@DanielJohnHowTo Thank you I will try that.
@@DSOwen-s9u we also tried a bit of light oil as well
@@DanielJohnHowTo Thank you for that advice. I managed to get the Half shaft back into position with just a bit of wiggling and jiggling. :)
@@DSOwen-s9u that's all it takes sometimes, thanks.
Did mine today, well tried to 😕 one of the 15mm bolts holding the bearing in has rounded and I dunno how to get it out 😭
