You can find damaged pieces that you can modify anywhere. Do not cut up pieces that are still intact. Also they will be a lot less expensive. Trust me…
I did a similar repainting of the island superstructure in Navy battleship grey. I got mine severely sun color damaged. I also turned the deck 99 the correct Navy direction. Interesting some of the other paint choices you made like the crane. I was surprised with the inside of the blast shield painted white. Overall, I like the direction you are going with your build. Print or build more flight deck and brace parts and make the flight deck longer, so it doesn't look at tall as it is long.
Wait a sec did he make the stickers up on the tower say 99 like they should but then the stickers on the end of the deck say 66

Its all old stock stripped down, repainted with new stickers. Custom made most of the add ons

I'd still like to see someone, with the skills, resale the toy down to fit 1:32 figures and aircraft. Might be closer to accurate proportions.
