I got the 2023 dragster America about two months ago and I love it! Rides and sounds unlike anything else, although it was the design that got me hooked at first. The SCS (Smart Clutch System) is amazing. You don’t have to worry about the clutch anymore, and is really handy when you are stock on traffic.
Still one of the sexiest bikes on the market, but I believe the original Dragster RR in red and white, with the white spoked wheels, is THE most beautiful example of them all! The white rim with the black spokes on the single sided swingarm makes the rear wheel appear to be totally disconnected from the bike yet following it everywhere. The current RR wheels in their dark colors lose that effect.
You've pretty much nailed it. The only other difference I would say is that I think the pegs on the Brutale are slighly higher, contributing to that sporty feel. I went for Dragster as I like the looks more and I like the leverage of the wide bars (though they are a pain when filtering). The SCS is fantastic if you ride a lot in traffic.
When I rode a Dragster a few years back, it felt like a motard - felt like I was perched over the front wheel. Very responsive steering, and I was chucking monos without even trying. I’d go for the slightly less insane Brutale.
That makes sense now that you pointed it. The Dragster is evident in its name. I suppose they brought in the front wheel rake and extended the rear wheel.
I’ve got a 2015 Dragster RR and its mad. I ditched the bar end mirrors for a more conventional set up which is easier thru traffic. Also had the seat altered to try and stop me sliding into the tank, which didn’t really work. Absolutely love the bike - it’s a keeper 👍
Yeah, pretty reliable. I swapped it last year for a ‘22 Brutale which is the same engine but being a ‘22, has updated electronics. A couple of hiccups when brand new - A faulty tilt switch on the Dragster and a weird software fault on the Brutale but these were quickly sorted and engine wise, not a squeak. I did 9000 miles on the Dragster and I’ve got 3500 miles on the Brutale
I traded it back with the dealer I bought it from. Over 7 years it dropped from £13k to £7k which I’d guess is fairly typical. Probably could have done better with a private sale but I’m sooooo lazy. BTW, I can thoroughly recommend Bennett’s of Barnsley. It’s 150 miles from where I live but I’ve been going there for 20 years now coz they’re so helpful and knowledgeable
If you want to go fast in the twisty bits get the Brutale, easily the best “big bike” I’ve ever ridden on a mountain road. A triple the demon child of a twin and a four, a counter rotating crank and narrower section tyres this thing changes direction almost by thought alone, try it it’s addictive 😁👍
I have owned my 22 Dragster SCS for about two months now and WOW! Its my first MV, I have had an R6, YZF, and Buell Lightning 1200 and this Dragster is by far a more superior bike. The light body and short wheel base really make the bike a part of your body. Where you think, it goes. There is so much torque its mind blowing. More torque than my 1200 cc V-twin buell. The SCS is awesome. Not needing the clutch lever is weird at first but its incredibly convenient at traffic lights and in quick shifts. I absolutely love the Dragster.
@@aka_pierre yes. It still works perfectly if you prefer to ride it like a normal bike and operate the clutch manually. You just don’t have to. I still use it at time accelerating in first gear at lights because I do love shifting. It’s part of riding, but it truly convenient to not HAVE to because the clutch less requirement mixed with the smoothness of the speed shifter is mind blowing
Both stunning looking bikes, Dragster edges it on the looks, but maybe the Brutale the sensible choice, have an older MV on my bucket list, Cheers Motobob
It depends on which one is available. These are difficult to find. I am looking primarily at the " Rosso" models. It's a bit more pricey for the Dragster. I like the bar end mirrors on it. I used to like the Triumph bar end mirrors best but these are better. And the Kineo wheels are cool. But I like the Brutale just a bit more. With Ducati making its new Monster look like a MT07 and being built in Thailand, I think that I would not have an issue with the MV. Yet MV Augusta has to seriously expand its dealership base.
Yea that’s a common problem with MV, the dealerships are very few and far between. The Rosso models are definitely a good way to see how an MV feels. As for your comments on the monster, very true, it’s either stay true to Italian made or why are we paying such a premium. Hope you end up getting an MV, they are a dream bike; but just to be honest, make sure you have a dealer close enough you’re willing to go to because they can need a bit of warranty work sometimes. I have an MV dragster lh44, amazing bikes.

Just bought a 2018 dragster in grey. The 2021 models are better and I like the TFT and the electronics , but the colors they offer are a bit dull and they are not doing it justice. This is a stand out bike and even if you are not a poser , when you pay that much you want to look at it admire it, it needs to stand out. I haven't riden the Brutale, but the dragster did not feel like it doesn't want to corner and with a 190/55 rear Tyre I am sure it will be as nimble as the brutale. Remove the standard 200/50 rear tyre and spin on a 200/55 or a 200/60 and the bike is actually more flicky and nimble than the Brutale - That turns the Dragster from a posers bike into a riders bike that can also pose for the camera...
