Stateroom Features
Our intimate, all-veranda ships offer a wide variety of staterooms for your selection. From Veranda Staterooms to the abundance of extra perks and amenities in our spacious Explorer Suites, there’s no finer way to travel. And whichever stateroom you choose, you will find it beautifully designed in the understated elegance for which Viking is known.
The Viking Longships cater to an active group of guests in the 55-70 age range, seeking an experiential and inclusive European vacation, focused on the culture, food, and beverages of the regions visited by the ship. Maximum capacity is 190 passengers.
Dining
The Restaurant is the main dining room on all Viking Longships, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Open seating is the standard during all meals, on a first-come first-serve basis. Viking chefs make an effort to include local flavors, particularly during lunch and dinner.
The Aquavit Terrace
Serves as an alternate dining venue, typically featuring a lighter fare, or special event meals like hamburger cookouts at lunch. In the evenings, Aquavit transforms into a more formal space serving from an alternate menu. Dining in Aquavit is included in the cruise fare, but reservations may be needed.
Top Deck Attractions
The top deck is a place for relaxation, sightseeing and activities between port explorations. You can expect lounge chairs for both sunbathers and shade seekers, a walking track, deck games like chess and shuffleboard, as well as a putting area and herb garden.
Entertainment
Entertainment in the lounge is often of the cultural variety, with local entertainers brought on board as the cruise progresses. A keyboardist provides music for evening game nights, dancing, and speakers. Daytime activities when the ship is underway often include cooking classes or even expert guides explaining the scenery as the ship sails.

What are the entertainment options on these ships after the daytime excursions are over with and everybody is back on the ship for the night ? I didn't see really any great options in this video which gives me reservations.
If you are looking for night life, a different cruise line is for you. I think they have a pianist, and tv in the room. The European river longships have less than 200 passengers, Ocean liners are under 1,000 (some may be 2,000). It is my understanding that river cruises are more like bus tours in terms of set schedule for eating (except for the additional buffet), and tours. On ocean cruises, there is a choice of shore excursion, on river cruises everyone does the same walking tour (in groups of 40 or so) ,sometimes stopping for part of a day before heading to the next stop up the river.
Part of the atmosphere on a Viking cruise is that you will meet similar people. We sat on the top deck or in the bar and did the simple art of conversation.
If you are traveling from the west coast of US or Canada, it’s 17- 20 hours of flights.
Not much to do or see on the ship.
The city tours are similar: church, museum, cobblestone street ….
Room and dining service were good.
Food was good. Internet was horrible.
And the toilets were loud. You hear neighbour room flushes !
You can also hear the people walking on the sun deck if you are staying in the top floor.

I was a bit underwhelmed with its decor ., I thought Viking had a reputation for high luxury.. the interior seemed very dated and drab .. the Viking River Boats vary ?
You’re going on a cruise to see the many poets of call and the outdoor scenery, not to be thrilled by the inside of the ship. High end is usually a “classic” palate rather than a circus themed one.
Scandinavian decor is minimal and different than you are used to
I came on here hoping to see the different cabins. Except for a quick photo, there was nothing. Why didn't you show the cabins?
This is the ship tour, and all the rooms and suites are on the channel as well. Each with their own video.

Hold on, how tall are you mate? Or more importantly how high was the ceiling at the front desk? You were about to bust your head.
We are scheduled to sail Gymir out of Amsterdam but have no idea which dock we're supposed to go to. I looked at all of our paperwork from Viking and it's not listed. Any idea?
If you notice, there are luggage tags with Viking on them. They will pick them and take them to a van. There normally is a Viking representative at the luggage stalls.

18 and up allows. There are a few river cruise lines that offer family cruises and they are absolutely wonderful.

Thank you for this great video. I am excited to travel with my sister next year, my only apprehension has been the vaccine mandates. I do not tolerate them well and have not had any. I know I may have to get one if Viking doesn’t change their policy by late summer 2023. . My sister and I are on the EIR in November 2023. Neither of us have ever traveled on a Viking cruise. I called Viking a few days ago and they said that VAX mandates have been lifted in all the countries that our particular cruise is going to. So at this point it’s just Viking that still has a mandate.
If you're not vaccinated... at least against covid... you might not be around for your cruise next year so this may be a moot point.
More worries if you got it. Start researching studies from multiple counties on covid effects.😢

no, at every stop you do a walking tour on the river cruise. Their ocean cruises have a small gym and have the typical shore excursion options.
