Just rewatched Batman Forever, forgot how interesting and fun this film was. Val Kilmer is severely underrated!!! Batman forever is completely underrated in my opinion. Thank you Joel Schumacher, Rest In Piece!!

This documentary is great because it highlights how great forever could have been and how Batman And Robin was doomed from the start

Don’t care what anyone thinks. The batmobile was sweet as a kid, and the sonar suit is still one of the coolest on screen suits. Returns suit is still my favorite.

Wish the dark tone Schumacher was going for Batman Forever didn’t get removed. Val Kilmer’s performance would have been more consistent with the film rather than him being serious and fairly dark only for the film to go back and forth between light and dark. Batman & Robin is too campy for me. While that style worked for Adam West’s Batman, by the 90s people were more interested in a serious take on Batman not so much a new Batman done in a campy way. Studio interference had a lot to do with how Schumacher’s films turned out. Of course that’s not to say Schumacher didn’t have any hand in some of the light hearted nature of those films, but it’s clear from the work he did before and after Batman that he’s more of a dark filmmaker and I wish we would have gotten a dark Schumacher Batman. RIP Joel Schumacher.

You have to commend Joel for taking responsibilities for his mistakes. He is just such a nice guy. R.I.P Joel.

I bumped into Joel Schumacher when I was visiting Universal Studios and we were in LA on our way there - I was a child and Forever had just come out and I was of course wearing my Batman shirt. I walked up to him and said that Forever was the best Batman film I had ever seen - he turned to me with a huge smile and said “why thank you little man, I’m so glad you enjoyed it!, that means a lot to me”

Although Joel got the reception that he did from people, his visual sense of directing was immaculate. What I loved about his Batman films was how colorful, flamboyant, and most importantly FUN. Please don’t forget he himself could only do what Warner Brothers ALLOWED him to do.

The duality between Bruce Wayne and Batman was what Batman Forever was all about. I think Val Kilmer for sure explored the psychological aspect to the character. The one thing with Carrey's Nygma is that he did play the eccentric type creator obsessed with riddles, but you still had that Jokeresque performance.

Watching this documentary again made me realize where Andy Muchieti was surely inspired for the first appearance of Keaton's Batman Batwing in the next The Flash movie. The way Val Kilmer's batwing is hanging in the batcave is too similar to the way it was shown in the flash trailer, only upside down
